We bought a van which was delivered to us. Two of the tyres were not road worthy and I had to have them replaced straight away. When I telephoned the salesman he agreed from the photos I sent that they were right on the edge of being legal but would have to refer it to his manager. I was offered a free service as compensation which I declined as I do not trust this garage. I have not heard anything since even though I was told he would ring back the next day. I do feel scammed that I’ve been sold a vehicle that was not road worthy. I’ve had to buy a new battery within a couple of weeks as well, so after forking out £30k, I’ve had to spend more on top which wasn’t ideal! I would not buy anything from them again, the trust has gone and communication was terrible. Once youve paid I don’t believe they care. How this got through an MOT I have no idea as the wipers also had to be sorted. If you’re thinking of purchasing a vehicle please bring an expert with you to look it over. There were other issues but communication, trust and a roadworthy vehicle should be at the top of your agenda not grab the money and ignore.
I see there is the standard response received from Lookers just now from my review and they’ve even forgot to remove the “template” for 1/2 stars at the top! I had already made a complaint through the website and no response ……. Says it all to be honest

Phoned dealer to register a warranty claim 4 days before warranty expired and book appointment. Dealer confirmed car would be dealt with under warranty and booked an appointment for 2 days after warranty expired. Service Manager then refused warranty claim on a failed wheel bearing at 19.4k miles because the car was not on their ramps before warranty expired. He said he would listen to the call to check our claim that this dealership requirement was not explained and get back to us, but this never happened. Unprofessional and totally avoidable.

Brett made a potentially difficult trade in so easy. I was trading in my mum’s former motability vehicle. This was something I was dreading since she passed away. Brett made the transition easy and was so personable he put my concerns to the back of my mind and made the transition a more enjoyable experience.

I took my car to Mercedes Benz Gatwick (MBG) for its MOT
MOT: Certificate and Emission Report issued
Vehicle Health Check: A useful 3 page report with details on brakes, tyres, etc.
MBG Customer Experience: Good
March 2025
I booked my car in to MBG for its MOT. After booking, Mercedes called to say that the booked appointment was no longer available. Made a new appointment over the phone only for Mercedes to cancel again. Finally took my Mercedes to another MOT testing centre.
MOT: All done in 60 minutes at another testing station.
Vehicle Health Check: None
MBG Customer Experience: Bad

Decided to give MBG another opportunity. I called in to the dealership, met a member of the service team and confirmed my vehicle registration along with my name, address, e-mail and contact number. Car booked in for an MOT at 08:00 on Thursday 19th March 2026.
Thursday, arrived at MBG at 07:50 but no customer access until 08:00. Called in to reception and MBG managed to get both my name and address wrong. The car was taken in for its MOT and was finally finished by 10:30. MBG also carried out a vehicle health check but failed to supply any further information or documentation relating to the general health or condition of my Mercedes.
MOT: Certificate and Emission Report issued
Vehicle Health Check: No information supplied
MBG Customer Experience: Poor
MBG has a lovely facility but they appear to be struggling to get the basic things, such as the customer name, address or appointment dates/times correct. Disappointed with Mercedes Gatwick in March 2025 and once again in March 2026.

Was sent a link an hour after dropping off the car to keep me informed of it's status but all it did was take me to a page to book a service
Normally get a video of the car health check but that didn't happen until later in the day when I received a message around lunch time to say the car was ready and I rang them to question it when they had said it was booked as an all day job. When I rang to ask if it was really ready and had they stopped the health check video I was asked "did you not receive it and let me send it again" of course it was instantly received...strange eh ?.
When I picked the car up the bill was over £200 less than quoted, I had said it was an oil service but the booking geniuses said it was a major service with spark plug replacements recommended, turns out it was just an oil service because the major service was done last year....it's all in the system.
The system for updating the progress of the vehicle didn't work, the video report of the vehicle check wasn't sent until I asked for it and the work that they booked it in for was absolutely wrong, all in all not a great experience.

Had a service and MOT on same day. Brilliant customer service can't complain. But car failed MOT on rear brake pads. Asked on a price on a 2019 tiguan and was quoted £600.
Now I know that pads cost £50-40 wholesale on this model. How on earth can the price justify this?
I know it's a main dealer (lookers) but they don't have to rip customers off in a cost of living crisis.
Is this normal for using main dealers?

Tim at Lookers Chelmsford went above and beyond for both myself and my Mum when we were both purchasing used cars, hence the reason for returning to Tim. For my Mum he delivered the car to her door and took her old car and even helped with the paperwork that had been lost by sending off for new forms as she isn’t particularly technically minded and didnt know how to obtain replacement documents. For myself, I had test driven a car at another branch of Ford where customer service was dreadful. I wanted the car but didn’t want to deal with that branch again. I contacted Tim and explained the situation and he went to collect the car for me and made the process incredibly easy. Will always return to Ford in Chelmsford and ask for Tim as he is honest with his thoughts about levels of cover required, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. After having the car for a few days I reached out to ask a few questions and he was straight back in touch with advice. Can’t recommend Tim and the team at Lookers Chelmsford enough!

I took my car in for repair to the rear bumper on Wednesday 18th March, which I had to leave with them for a total of three days, i received a call on Friday morning from Kirsty to advise my car would be ready for collection just after 1100 am. When I arrived i found myself waiting for almost an hour as my car was not actually ready. During my wait I was told that my car was being washed. After the hour wait the car was finally ready, upon hand over I found a large dollop of bird poo down the drivers side of the window of my car, which I was told must have just happened. One day after collection i have now noted that the rear bumper of the car is not actually fitted properly with screws on both sides of the vehicle that hold the bumper are not properly secured and all four screws are sticking out. How can this be allowed surely the work must be signed off before being released back to the customer. On calling kia again today I was advised that Kirsty, the person that handles vehicle repairs was not on shift therefore no further action could be provided until Monday when they will get her to give me a telephone call. I am now driving a car where the bumper could potentially fall off, without any resolution given today to fix. I am now going to have spend another one of my days at kia stockport trying to resolve this issue ! Which i have already paid for. The team at kia are very good at selling your a product but their after sales is very poor. No consideration made for the inconvenience caused or the risk that the bumper could fall off my car. As my car was being left for the repair I was provided with a car that was in a dirty state and which I was charged £25 per day for the privilege. On top of all this I feel I must highlight that when attempting to get a vehicle either in or out of forecourt is a total nightmare and a disgrace due to the fact that there is never anywhere where you can park without dodging other vehicles which a just left parked everywhere, A potential accident waiting to happen. A totally unacceptable service, I will definitely think twice before purchasing a vehicle from this branch again in the future or for using them for any future repairs.
