I am disappointed with the service received from Halfords.
On 10 January 2026, I had four tyres fitted. After one tyre was damaged by a pothole, I visited National Tyres and Autocare in Shrewsbury, where I was initially informed the tyre (with over 7mm tread) would be replaced under warranty and was given an appointment for 17 March 2026.
At the appointment, a different staff member charged me £143, stating I had to pay 35% as the tread was only 5mm. This contradicts the earlier inspection confirming over 7mm tread. I purchased all four tyres at the same time, and the remaining tyres still have over 7mm tread. I also contacted customer service, who stated the tyre was only 5mm. This is difficult to accept, as the tyre has covered less than 1,000 miles in two months.

Don't waste your time or money on these con artists. Took my car for an MOT and had it aborted in the first 5 minutes after claiming my car had a dangerous level of oil in it and that the head gasket was going (I've had the car 2 years and have never touched the oil or had any problems with this before or at previous MOTs) then claimed it would be several hundred pounds to get this fixed. Took it round the corner to AD's autos and they dropped the oil level and did the MOT and low and behold, my head gasket was completely fine and my car passed the MOT
Terrible service, avoid.
Terrible service, or should I say lack of.
Booked car in for tyres online, paid extra for time slot, that time slot was cancelled, second time slot cancelled, went in a third time but no luck. Not once did I receive an apology. Had to request a refund and go elsewhere as needed the car for a long journey the next day. LTC tyres came to the rescue with a proper service. Will probably wait for a week for the refund to come through no doubt. Avoid!

I wasn’t sure what to expect as this is not my usual branch but I couldn’t wait to write my review! Everybody was extremely friendly, chatty and helpful. They went above and beyond also aligning my rear wheels, even though I just booked a front end. They all went to great lengths to explain everything they’d done, which was very interesting. I may well go back to the Bexleyheath branch as the experience was so great. Thanks guys. Extremely pleased and impressed!
Serious Safety Risk – Avoid This Workshop
I will never use this workshop again.
After having my tyres replaced and wheel alignment done, my car pulled to the left, the steering wheel shook and was crooked, making it unsafe to drive home. The car is now completely undriveable, it creates a serious safety risk, and I am honestly afraid to drive it. The staff claimed everything was fine, even though the car worked perfectly before the visit, and the problem only appeared after leaving the workshop.
Because of this situation, I already had to take a day off work, and now I will have to take another day off just to fix their mistake somewhere else, which means even more inconvenience and extra costs.
This is already the second time I’ve experienced such a problem at the same workshop. These people are irresponsible and are putting others at risk.
The lack of responsibility, ignoring complaints, and downplaying dangerous issues is completely unacceptable.
I am surprised that Halfords partners with such garages.
I strongly do not recommend this place – a total waste of time, money, and a serious safety risk! Anyone who values their safety should avoid this workshop at all costs.

My daughter took her car to this garage for a MOT. She had recently had a full service at an independent garage and this was to be a routine MOT.
They very quickly quoted her an extautionate amount to fit front brake pads and tried to talk her into replacing further (advisory) items to a total bill of over £800. At this point we removed the car from the premises and a small independent garage fixed the brake pads for half the amount quoted by the above garage. They even tried to charge £37.50 for a MOT retest if we returned it.
Mechanic on reception offered no explanation when I collected the keys and gave me no break down or description to what faults they believed were wrong with the car.

I recently had my new car serviced at the garage in Crewe. I paid for full diagnostic checks and a major service. The team picked up on a faulty steering system and with my permission sorted out the problem on the day including resetting the tracking. I was very pleased to drive away with peace of mind and would be more than happy to return in the future.
Avoid at all costs
You might be thinking that your new tyre fitting will be done at the allocated time you booked , but be prepared to waste at least 2 hours of your day waiting around for what should be a quick job as is done in most other places. My main issue however, is that they offered unsolicited advice advising me that a very expensive part of my car to replace was in a very bad state and about to imminently fail . The part in question had been replaced less than 2 years ago , but i also then got it checked by my mechanic friend who told me that there was nothing wrong with it. Reception are in on the scam and happy to relay these untruths to the poor customer. Lesson learned...avoid at all costs.
Questionable knowledge about different car’s needs
Purchased 4 tyres from Enfield Halfords/National tyres in July 2025. Wanted 4WD alignment but when I booked they weren’t able to do the 4WD alignment but could do the front wheels which I had done - took over 2 hours. This month - March 2026, I had to have the front tyres replaced as the alignment was out by quite a way. Both tyres had no tread on the inside but plenty on the outside. I went again to Halfords/National
and had them replaced. This time in Bangor. Again I asked for 4WD alignment. When I arrived I was told the alignment would be a long wait due to only having one ramp available. I had booked in for 8:30 and they couldn’t guarantee it would be done by 11:00. I declined and have had the alignment done elsewhere. Took an hour and a half to have two tyres replaced.
My concern isn’t that they couldn’t do the alignment but they didn’t once suggest my car might need the ADAS system resetting. Not through their booking/system or in person.
It did need resetting and the other well known company I used did suggest it and do it. Took an hour to test my alignment, adjust the alignment and reset and test the ADAS system.
Puncture repair
Really friendly bunch of guys. Ritchie, the manager, helped me with a puncture repair. He was very honest. Other tyre companies would have forced me into buying a new tyre, but Ritchie did his best to repair the existing tyre.
The other guys were chatty making everyone at home.
Couldn't have asked for me. Top place. Without doubt would go there again.

They took my money for a booking 4 days away, the website offers a specific installation date and time, then two days later I am told they have no-one available, meaning I am left stranded and have wasted two days when I could have booked in with another provider.
I will never, ever use this service again. Do not take my money up front if you cannot act in good faith and deliver on a booking,

Had noticed my passenger front tyre the tracking was out and needed sorting after fitting new tyres on the front, didnt want to have the same problem again. So I got in touch with National Tyres, and asked if they could sort the problem out, the lads there have been great and managed to get it booked it, checked and sorted by the time I finished my coffee. Great service, friendly, quick and they habe been happy to go out their way to get the job done, highly recommend them.

Booked mobile tyre fitting on my car, 4 tyres and not a particularly low value purchase. Booked fitting which was re-scheduled, then re-scheduled again for the following day which was then cancelled at 16.49 after I’d waited in all day. They then re-scheduled for the following week. National can’t have been surprised when I cancelled and requested a refund. Disgusted really doesn’t adequately sum up my feelings on this hopelessly inept company. Once bitten, twice shy. Buyer beware……

Fantastic customer service from Chris, Davie, and Matt. All three staff members were very professional, kind, and informative. They went above and beyond to explain the issues in layman’s terms and recommended the best solutions. They also kindly helped by pumping up my tires that were low on air. The MOT service ran smoothly and was completed on time. I would highly recommend this branch. The team is doing a great job. Thank you very much!

Awful experience after booking an MOT, they called 12hrs before the MOT and left a message asking me to call them back but without any return number so when I turned up for my MOT they flippantly told me it had been cancelled and they had tried to call me, Mark gave the impression he really didn’t care about the inconvenience and made no attempt to resolve the issue or suggest any other options,
