I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Vauxhall Chingford.
I purchased a Peugeot 2008 in March 2025 with approximately 47,900 miles. Within just 6,000 miles of ownership, the vehicle suffered a major failure — a cracked gearbox housing — with a repair cost quoted at £7,000.
A failure of this nature is not consistent with reasonable expectations for a 5-year-old vehicle. In addition, the car experienced multiple issues shortly after purchase, including an oil leak, electrical faults, and interior defects, raising concerns about its condition at the point of sale.
Despite this, the dealership has declined responsibility and instead offered a “goodwill” contribution, leaving me to pay £4,500. I do not consider this reasonable given the nature and scale of the failure. The explanation provided relies on “wear and tear” and the fact I declined an extended warranty, which does not address their responsibility to supply a vehicle of satisfactory quality.
This situation has caused significant inconvenience, including loss of use of the vehicle, additional transport costs, and ongoing financial commitments.
I have now escalated the matter through the finance company and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Based on my experience, I would advise others to carefully consider their options before purchasing from this dealership.

It's a shame I didn't get Nick! I went in due to recall and the greeting at the Service Reception at 10.05 was miserable. No smiles, no hello and very little on what happens and where I could wait ( I did look about). I won't be visiting them again! Sorry guys but that 'welcome' just wasn't...welcoming.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience here and felt genuinely uncomfortable as a customer. I was left sitting and waiting for my sales advisor for far too long, with no clear communication or acknowledgment. What made the situation worse was the behavior of the managers from the nearby office, they were loudly laughing (almost screaming) and joking in a way that felt completely unprofessional and disruptive.
The atmosphere was chaotic and disrespectful, almost as if customer presence didn’t matter at all. It honestly felt degrading to sit there waiting while staff carried on so noisily without any regard for how it might come across.
The whole experience left me feeling ignored and unwelcome. It was disturbing enough that I just wanted to leave. (Which I did ) Absolutely unacceptable service.I won’t be returning. If I could give a ZERO I would.

Rawnok was extremely patient and knowledgeable about the car I purchased and very accommodating to my time scale. He was very good at keeping me up date . Also he was very good at listening to my requirements and suggesting what would be a best fit for me.
Nick was amazing at checking in with me throughout the sales process and listening to any concerns which I had and going above and beyond. Nick has also been on the car journey with me for approximately four years.
Sonia is also amazing talking me through the car specification and always accommodating and friendly on each visit I have to the dealership whether I have come in for a service or MOT. Before changing my car she always kept me informed on my visits with the pricing of cars I expressed an interest in and talked me through my options . Sonia has been on this Car journey with me for the past four years and counting. She is very welcoming and friendly a real asset to Vauxhall Chingford .

I recently brought a car from here in December the car has given me nothing but issues from after a month after buying it. I took it back a few times to get the many issues resloved. I have been dismissed and not listened to finally the car a (2025 plate) brakes stopped working while I was driving on a fast road on my way to the dealership. I finally gave them the keys I'd had enough.I have called they say they will call back they don't .. I haven't heard from them since the car is still there!! Customer service is zero after they have sold you the car you are on your own.

Overall, I had a very positive experience with the Vauxhall main dealer. Christopher was the person who helped us, and he was professional, friendly, and very helpful throughout the whole process.
