Be suspicious

Not having heard before about Crossover I just went into the application process for a VP marketing role completely blank. Sure enough I passed the basic fit, CATT and English language test. But then thing did start to become weird. I had to do a so-called "real work" test. For this I had to write some marketing copy. There were some criteria which you are told about in advance , so I made sure I did hit all of them in my content piece. After I submitted it, I had to wait for over a week to get a message that I only had gotten 1 out of the 3 stars required and my application was rejected for that reason. However, when I checked the document history I could see nobody had looked at it. I just got a bad rating out of nowhere. This feels quite scammy and looking back I guess it all has been a waste of time.

Looks too good to be true for a reason

I got rejected after the Basic Fit stage consisted of 5 or so questions to which I responded positively. It left me with a strange feeling so I decided to go on Trustpilot to see what other people think. And sure enough -- looks like Crossover is some kind of data harvesting, clickbait project. The fact that you can't just delete your profile seems to prove it. What a waste of time.

Terrible experience. They fire you at will in just 1-2 weeks of joining, pushing your entire career into chaos. Immoral, unethical and unempathetic organization. Highly recommend against joining them. If you still plan to do so, make sure you have an alternate career path ready after they fire you.

Loads of money at your fingertips!

The only Job Offers you will receive are from a company called Trilogy which I'm 90% sure is some sort of related company to Crossover. They are just using your time and effort to build out a candidate portfolio to attract real customers.

Don't waste your time. The reason there are so many people saying the tests are unpassable is because they are not designed to be passed. Like YTF is there a 30 minute English test.

Either they are a dumb company with a dumb idea about making everything perfect, thinking people can be turned into data. Or, they are a scam just using you to get more money.

Oh, and lets not forget the reassuring fact they have videos and articles all over the internet defending their legitimacy claiming they are not a scam. That certainly doesn't raise any suspicions.

Their tests are a failure

I'm literally a certified genius, so to tell me I didn't pass their "cognitive test" just means they don't know how cognitive tests work.

In short: almost the entire test is numerical math problems, the kind no one actually ever does in real life. Yes there were some actual cognition questions, but very few. Just math, math, and more math. I have a disability related to reading numbers, but again, I am a certified freakin' genius and reading numbers has nothing to do with critical thinking. Nothing.

This is just one more example of how millenials are not the right people to be running things. Maybe some day they will shut up and listen to those of us who created the tech industry, but it's not looking good.

Dodgy site to get free work done from prospective employees

It feels like this is a fake site, set up to gather free users ideas and data. Similar to other reviews, I sat for hours on end doing spurious tests, until I was subjected to the real work assessment. I then spent several more hours doing a virtual, in depth product customer discovery session. Once I completed that, crossover went absolutely silent and ended up closing the job posting and giving me 0 feedback. Won't make the same mistake again

Stupid assessment which ultimately reflects badly on company

I have taken many standardized tests in my day--IQ, SAT, and GRE and have generally scored in the top 10 percent. Here, you are only given 15 minutes to answer 50 questions--my overall score was not high enough to continue the process and when they said I could explore other potential roles other than the one I was initially interested in but was presented pretty much the same test which I had initially. In the real world, you have hours/days not minutes to complete real projects and these questions or mostly trick ones that are not job specific enough to carry over on real data analytics projects. So just because you are an exceptionally good and fast test taker under extreme time constraints does not mean you are going to be a great data scientist or programmer where you often have to think through creatively through complex tasks. They just seem too lazy to really evaluate candidates carefully and on a case by case basis--even though I went to a top 20 school--who cares? Plenty of people go to less well known schools and excel in these roles and job titles. Thus, they are throwing out the baby with the bathwater--sometimes they likely land on good candidates through this process but they shoot themselves in the foot just as often.

Extremely condescending.

I'd be really surprised if companies actually find candidates with good ideas and a spine by employing this service.

I would never want to work for a company that believes in this system. It's asinine to expect top professionals to go through this mind-numbing application process before even having a conversation with the company to understand what the vague "top paying" role actually even is.

I scored in the 95th percentile for their "aptitude test." I was then subjected to a further language test, despite being a native English speaker. I got to the final question and decided to just quit, because I felt utterly violated and disrespected by having to do this ridiculous exercise, and thought, what would it be like to work for a company who believes in this? No thanks.

As the last reviewer said, employees are not cattle. And why do I need to share my entire desktop screen with them? GDPR insists that companies do not ask for more private data than they need to perform the service. Pretty sure this is far beyond what they need. How would I "cheat" at repeating sentences back to the microphone in a different tab? I understand maybe submitting a voice introduction video to prove I am a true applicant and not a recruiter, but this exercise seemed so sketchy and went on and on. How are they processing this data? Now they have recordings of me saying 25 ridiculous sentences like:

"Always wait for your manager to be in an agreeable mood before you ask for time off" ....?

What the hell, frankly. AVOID

Don't waste your time applying to any…

Don't waste your time applying to any jobs on this site. I was applying for several C-suite level marketing positions. I have previous experience as a CMO.

To start the "qualification process" I took an SAT style cognitive ability test that had nothing to do with the roles I was applying for. What does my ability to pass the SAT have to do with my ability to market your company and help you grow your revenue? You have to answer 50 questions in 15 minutes (18 seconds a question). I have worked with amazing people in the past who could have never scored above the 85th percentile doing SAT style arithmetic and identifying visual and number patterns, but produce the kind of results that help 10x businesses. You have to score in the 85th percentile to move on. I scored in the 90th percentile and was able to move on to the next stage of testing, but the entire time I was thinking how ridiculous the test was for someone in a marketing role.

They then made me take two English proficiency tests that took 20 mins each - literally listening to audio and repeating it back to the computer like I was in 3rd grade. That was followed by elementary reading and typing exercises to confirm that I'm proficient in the English language. I'm applying for a CMO role, you don't think I know how to speak English and type words? I'm pretty sure if you just glanced at my resume or linkedin profile you would be able to see that I'm proficient in English.

Then after hours of superfluous testing, I had to complete 3 hours worth of "real work experience" assignments. So I created an entire Go-To-Market strategy for the business and I guarantee you if you handed any marketer my work they would have implemented my processes, methods, and strategies into their business and they would have instantly seen results. I have an entire portfolio of real world results I can show you to back it up and as part of the application. I even provided links to case studies of the results I've produced for some reputable Fortune 500 companies.

So after nearly 5 hours of testing and homework, I was finally finished and submitted the application....and less than 12 hours later I get an email saying my application has been rejected. After jumping through all the other pointless hoops, I was not even awarded a short interview to assess my actual abilities related to the job?

But since I had already completed all the other ridiculous testing steps, I decided to go ahead and apply for another position (your testing scores roll over to other applications). So I completed another "real world work experience" assignment for the CMO position at another company. I put in another 2 hours of work developing another go-to-market strategy (something I've charged thousands of dollars for as a marketing consultant) and within 24 hours of submitting it, my application was rejected.

It's a complete waste of time. The cognitive ability tests have nothing to do with the actual job and then the real world work assessments seem to be nothing more than companies getting free labor from top candidates.

Avoid crossover and stick to platforms where a simple cover letter and resume are rewarded with an interview and the chance to show who you are and what you have accomplished as a candidate. I could have sent out 10 personalized cover letters and resumes and then followed up with personalized messages to the hiring managers on Linkedin in half of the time I spent on the Crossover's process....and I guarantee you I would have gotten at least one interview.

Fraudulent - view from MD of national SaaS business.

Please do not waste your time. The site, roles, and videos explaining how crossover work all look great.

I applied for 5 roles completing 5+ hours of tasks. I was informed that I had passed everything for 3 roles (skills assessments and Real work assessments).

The system says 'congratulations for reaching the interview stage!'
'Hang tight as we are working to assign an interviewer.'

Of the 3 roles I reached interview stage with:

1) simply disappeared with no contact, feedback or reason. The whole premise of the site is that if you complete everything successfully, you get an interview. This didn't happen.

2) I received confirmation that I had not been accepted for another role - after reaching interview stage, and without being interviewed.

3) The third role is still visible when I log in, showing my progress, and 'waiting to assign an interviewer for me', for the last 8 weeks.

This was a massive waste of time and highly suspicious to me. Please carefully consider this, the site and videos look great but the claims are untrue.

At one point a video said 80% of people that make the final stage on cross-over get offered a job.
This '80%' makes no sense.

Please do not get taken in by the great visuals, videos and marketing. A total waste of time.

Applied for a VP of Sales role having held senior leadership roles on C-level with well known brands within IT software. For some reason I did not pass the test although I have been a top performer in my previous leadership roles. A total waste of time..........
