Awful company to deal with, who do not reply to emails or attend meetings when scheduled through their online portal.

I booked 3 and no one from collective legal the little feedback I received turned out to be lies. As they had not responded to any of my house buyers queries or ordered searches on my forward purchase. Neither have they responded to any communication sent from estate agents. Despite telling me multiple times they have. I am now in the process of changing solicitors and formally complaining as both my sale and purchase have become dangerously close to falling through because of their lack of action.

Absolutely disgusting service. They have missed 3 completion dates. Doubled the quoted price, with fees that weren’t relevant to my case. Unable to clarify why additional charges were required. No communication and unable to ring under their name, it is required to book a meeting with no meeting slots ever available. Finally able to get through to Collective Law and they were unable to get a response off my solicitor. As a first time buyer I used this service as recommended by the auction company, they have since been removed off the panel due to their terrible service. DO NOT USE!!!

I am currently using Collective Legal for a property sale and, so far, the communication has been extremely poor.

I have sent repeated urgent emails to multiple email addresses and have struggled to get any meaningful response. I have also tried calling the numbers I have been able to find, including a mobile number which went to voicemail.

This is particularly frustrating because the sale is time-sensitive, the property is empty, and delays are causing me significant stress and practical difficulty. I have made the urgency very clear, yet I am still having to repeatedly chase simply to find out what is happening with my own transaction.

I have now booked a telephone call and I am hoping somebody actually contacts me as arranged.

At this stage, my biggest concern is not just the delay itself, but the lack of communication and the difficulty in getting hold of anyone.

I will update this review depending on how the matter progresses.

Same story as all of the most recent reviews. These people are criminals who will take your money and then ignore you.

I am a first time buyer who found an amazing property and they have now lost me that property due to their criminal incompetence.

The company have been reported to the SRA and Legal Obudsman.

I will now be pursuing them for damages.

Please avoid these criminals.

Interestingly, the only time I have received any form of communication from Collective Legal over the last month, despite repeated attempts to contact them, was a request to edit this review.

Avoid this company. Absolutely dreadful, no communication, dragging out deadlines. I am sure they are making things hard to justify their jobs!!! They are messing with people’s lives!!! Honestly do not waste your time with these people!

We are still in the middle of our purchase and sale all with collective legal, from dodging calls to out right lying the whole process so far has been absolutely abysmal. Pushing exhange dates further and further back, never updating us, blaming the issues on other solicitors when we have spoke to every person in this miniscule chain.

I have never witness a firm so miss managed. No one can tell you anything, you can’t ever talk to anyone. Im daily over 20+ calls just to try and get in touch with someone it’s horrendous.

Please save your self the drama and go elsewhere

I shall just say all negative reviews previous to mine have summed our experience entirely. Tom Young’s is possibly the most accurate to ours.
Since March we have been in the process of buying and selling in a chain that was simple. What should have been a straightforward process was held up at every opportunity by these cowboys. Even to the point on completion day the opposite ends of the chains conveyancers had to serve them notice as they held funds back unnecessarily.
Then to cap it off they overcharged by 3 grand on top of the promised fixed rate quote. At no point was I made aware there would be extra to pay until the final bill.
I will be going to the Legal Ombudsman and hopefully they can recompense me to some extent.
Also, Homey the agents that are in between were equally useless.
I am now waiting until the end of October for when I can take my complaint to the ombudsman.

I genuinely would be very wary of any 5 star reviews on here from Feb 2026 onwards. I did spot one who is actually dealing with my complaint at Homey.co.uk. So possible fake internal reviews.

Edit: to make matters worse, they have not completed the transfer of property properly and now everyone in the chain is being chased for the wrong service charges by propert management companies. There really should be an option to give zero stars.

One star is actually being generous. As an estate agent who regularly refers clients to solicitors, i was promised great things by collective legal/homey. However I have 2 cases with this firm both are taking forever to process with no clear end in sight. I can not communicate with them, the number doesn't connect, they didnt join the teams call we organised, we have been passed to three conveyancers within the firm, I have escalated and promised we will be dealt with urgently (and haven't) they dont speak great English so communication is difficult at best. They charge clients upfront fees, I am loosing the will!! I I dont even feel they understand the legal process as I myself have had to assist with enquiries. The list goes on!
I am completely and utterly embarrassed and ashamed that I have associated myself with this company and will never use them again. Avoid

Not very helpful with getting feedback or updates. When asking for clarification of what they want they just keep repeating the initial query so we have be using ChatGPT to understand what they are asking or just take a random guess.

When emailing for updates or feedback of any kind I have been ignored, not even acknowledged. It has even made me question whether I am email the correct email address.

If you want clear correspondence and any queries to be addressed promptly (or even at all) I would recommend using another conveyancer.

Very disappointing but a good conveyancer seems to be impossible to find.

Avoid at all costs!!!! This company is horrifically bad and their communication is even worse!!! My daughter nearly lost the buyer for her house because of them!! They don't care about helping the people that are paying their extortionate, in fact it seems like they don't actually want you to complete the sale of your house! Why should my daughter have had to pay 2 additional months mortgage payments because of their incompetence!!!

DO NOT USE!!!! Absolutely the worst, most stressful experience EVER for our family. Lost our buyer because of all the delays and now we have lost the family home we were buying. Sheer incompetence of this firm is unbelievable. It was an easy sale and purchase, two in the chain. Started this is March. We were not told it is just a UK front with all "solicitors" overseas (Sri Lanka). All good reviews are clearly fake. You can't ring anyone, they don't answer emalls and rarely turn up for the booked calls and when they do they say they cannot give an update as they're not the solictor on the case. Should have (finally) exchanged 3 weeks ago, but 3 dates all missed which is why buyer has now pulled out. Devastated to lose our new family home. Will be raising a complaint with ombudsman and SRA which more people need to do. This firm needs to be struck off. Save yourself a lot of heartache and do not use.

Absolutely dreadful!!! Zero communication. Was meant to complete 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing. Would NOT recommend. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Do not use! 0 communication, missed every deadline and the service is appalling. 1 day before completion my solicitor went on holiday without handing over my sale and left me chasing them till 5pm. Pay more and leave the stress.

This is the worst most unprofessional company I have ever had the misery of dealing with my house sale and purchase is possibly the simplest you can get I’m buying an empty house and selling to a cash buyer 🤬 collective legal have made it a misery they don’t reply to my messages it’s impossible to talk directly to them and I’m supposed to be moving in six days I have no idea if collective legal will be ready so I can’t book a mover or arrange help! If your in the early stages please just go somewhere else they will cause you so much unwarranted stress and anxiety

Everyone was extremely helpful and responsive. Agreed timelines were met at every stage and felt very stress free. The online process was easy and efficient. Would definitely use again.

This is the worse company I have ever dealt with if I could have given no stars I would.
I am nearing the end of my house auction deadline and collective legal have done nothing. I have repeatedly tried to contact them but no one answers a phone or emails. I had tried to set up an online meeting but no one turned up.
As others have said I have been passed around to 3 solicitors but had no meaningful contact apart from being told they were working on it through the online app.
I have no confidence in this company and suggest no one uses them. I expect all the positive post are by them as I can’t imagine anyone has had a good experience

Overall, I had a positive experience with Collective Legal and the Birmingham team. Abdul was helpful throughout the purchase, took the time to answer my questions and explain matters when I needed clarification, and dealt with a number of additional issues that arose during the transaction. Most importantly, everything came together in the end and we completed on the agreed date.

There were times during the process when I felt communication could have been a little more proactive, and I occasionally needed to chase for an update. A few matters were also identified quite late in the transaction. However, when I raised questions or concerns, the team responded constructively and worked to resolve them.

The final stages were handled particularly well. Communication improved considerably, the team worked with the other parties to get us ready for exchange and completion, and Abdul kept things moving through to a successful completion.

Overall, a good service and a successful outcome. With slightly more proactive communication throughout the process, it would have been a five-star experience.

My case is suppose to be handled by Shenaya an Emaan. Communication has been almost non existent, except the one day I manage to get put through to Shenaya. Once I got through, no useful updates were given apart from 'everything done on your side'.
Difficult to call especially after the 'booking system' was introduced when you call the main number. I've set up an appointment. I joined and waited 10mins for someone to join but nothing. I had high hopes especially when the other 'actions' are with another team within the same company. I'll update this review if I hear anything.

It has been 4 months since the legal process started. No communication from the solicitor's side. I have had to chase them to get any updates. They ignore emails and messages in their own app. I have not been able to speak to anyone to get an update for 3 weeks now, it feels like they are avoiding me.

I have had a terrible experience with Collective Legal. There is no way of communicating with your own lawyer. Multiple emails go unanswered, there is no phone number for you to reach them, they don't turn up to agreed meetings. I went days calling every half hour and got no response. They are handling a very high volume of cases and do not give dedicated, personalised attention to your case. There are huge delays in routine paperwork and there is no attention to detail. My property sale and purchase now appear to be falling through as a result.

I would advise all those considering utilising this company to dig into the reviews - the huge volume of 5 star generic and effusive reviews which do not appear to have been written by actual clients, and then the second highest number of reviews are the one star reviews like mine which are full of specific details of facts which actually occurred.

I see that Collective Legal respond to the negative reviews regretting that they are unable to identify the case so sadly unable to help resolve whatever issues are being alleged. Given I've had no response to my multiple attempts to raise a complaint with the company directly, I will include my full name here (Flora Alexander) so that you can indeed identify the case and the two property transactions I am referring to - in case a public assessment of the failures of this company has more impact than my private efforts.

My complaint concerns repeated and documented failures within Collective Legal's control: prolonged non-communication; failure to return calls or answer material questions; lack of a reliable means of contacting the lawyers responsible for my files; missed scheduled meetings; inadequate progression of enquiries; inaccurate or incomplete work; lack of meaningful legal advice; and ineffective supervision and escalation despite the known urgency and financial consequences.

These failures have occurred across two interdependent transactions subject to increasingly critical deadlines. Both transactions are now at serious risk.
