We would like to thank Mercia Movers for their fantastic service. We had little time to plan as we exchanged and completed in a short period, but Mercia had availability and was able to help with this. From the booking process to them moving us on the day, everything ran smoothly and made our house move very easy. The removal guys were fantastic, very experienced, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They arrived on time and worked extremely hard to ensure that we were in our new home in a timely manner. Highly recommend Mercia Movers.

We used Mercia Movers to relocate from Chester to Melbourne, Australia.

They offered ourselves a video survey prior to the move so that they could make sure we would be ok sizewise - it was a good job they did as I was unsure and the surveyor was very knowledgeable and this ensured we weren't panicking on the day when the lads came and everything fitted absolutely perfectly.

The communication in the minefield that was customs, was brilliantly handled and the goods arrived in Australia on time, and delivered to our new house.

Now we have unpacked everything (we were too overwhelmed with everything on the day of delivery to unpack) so instructed the crew just to leave in rooms, and we would sort out later - me and my wife have gone through everything and nothing damaged at all. I'm delighted with the service from start to finish and would like to thank Mercia for their help and wish everyone all the best for the future!!

Don’t use this company! Our belongings were shipped from the UK to Australia. Not everything was delivered as expected. Missing tools totalling hundreds of pounds, that my husband relies upon for his trade did not arrive. The removal guys didn’t pack / wrap the tool box. However, they assured us this would be done prior to shipping. This was the large tool box which we didn’t receive!! Mercia however, are not interested and said we signed for the goods, but we had refused to sign as there were missing tools! Prior to shipping, we sent Mercia a detailed itinerary of the tool box contents, with approximate values so that we could purchase insurance. Mercia replied stating that we had missed the deadline by a couple of days to purchase the insurance, even though our stuff had not yet been shipped! Then the same toolbox did not arrive in Australia!

I have the recent pleasure of moving house from Sutton Coldfield to Buckhurst Hill. The team and service was first rate, especially Andrew whose attention to detail, reassurance was professionalism was first rate. Secure packaging, communication and perfect manners made the experience a seamless one. Thanks so much.

I recently used Merciafor a move from France to UK and what a disappointing disaster it has been. The team that came to collect my things in France was friendly.
unfortunately the good part of the story ends there. My gears arrived with lots of damages and has been really poorly handled. New white furniture arrived with Black mark and scratches on it, beautiful oak furniture arrived badly scratched and the worst of it is that they do not care a bit. The only answer I got from them is you said insurance was to expensive (which it is in my opinion). But no apologies nothing, the handler Simon kept on speaking about insurance as insurance is a for them a excuse to do a bad job and so they do not need to care about your belongings if you are insured.
Conclusion OK price, really poor handling and quality and below zero customer service. Avoid at all cost.

In order to reply to the Mercia mover answer to my comment. Location of the property in France is accessible without the trailer of your truck as advised at booking. You choose to loan a smaller vehicle on your own based on Google map informations! I did load myself this rented véhicule twice and helped your team to load your truck where they parked it. The oak wardrobe is not a wardrobe but an antic clock that was totally refurbished not long ago and was in perfect condition when I loaded it myself into your truck. You are basically careless and the worse is that you do not feel a tiny bit responsible for your total lack of care and customer service.
Also how would you explained that an entire table .able top was smashed to pieces?

You replied that we should expect some stuffs to get slightly damaged during a move. That makes my point as your poor standard of care. Shouldn't the expectation for a removal company to deliver with no damages. Furthermore when we moved from UK to France years ago, we did not have any damage whatsoever on our belongings. STUPID ME i should have go back to this polish company instead of Mercia movers

We contacted Mercia Movers in June to move us from Oxford back to our home town of Yarm. A date and time were agreed at the beginning of July. The three guys arrived on time and within an hour had the whole house and garage emptied onto their vehicle, only stopping briefly for a drink of water. We waved them off on a Friday and the same crew arrived bright and early Monday to unload into our new home in the North East.

I used Mercia movers to move several boxes, a couple of suitcases etc nothing majorly big to Malta. The Uk side was not a problem however I told Kate that I could not move my boxes on my own from the kerb side to the third floor (there is a lift) - I have injured my arm and would not in any way be able to move the boxes on my own - she quoted a hefty fee for a third party in Malta to literally pick up the boxes from the kerb and take it via a lift into the apartment. GBP700 to be exact. I thought it was stiff but I was stuck and had no option. On the day one guy turned up looking very worse for wear and a 7 year old child. As I contracted with and paid Mercia and not with the third party I contacted them to plead my case. Kate agreed compensation was called for but when the third party told her that I got my boxes what am I complaining about and refused a refund on their side. Mercia just left me with this extremely high cost of paying one man £700 equal to EUR811 without a further adoo. The work took one hour fifteen minutes. If Mercia cannot vet their third parties and then participate in taking advantage of someone in a position where they have no other choice I will not use them again. It is a pity as I need to move my business to Malta too but I will not be exploited like this in the future.
IN RESPONSE TO MERCIA MOVERS DIRECTORS COMMENTS - I did raise a concern for the price in two emails one dated 20 July and again 27 July whereby I stated that the quotes were steep and mentioned that clearly I had no choice. I will either forward the mails to Trust pilot to verify or perhaps send it to the consumer council. My interest was not at the heart of your business despite me telling you that I was in a difficult position as I could not take it up myself. Despite being made aware you did not offer alternatives. I have attached one email stating price included two people this did not mention one man and a 7 year old child, my other emails which i could not attach shows my concern for the price twice without any alternatives offered. I had an excellent experience with the Mercia movers; shipped several boxes to Madeira island. Kate, the consultant allocated to my shipment, was superb. She guided and supported me throughout the process and answered all my questions (no matter how silly some of them were). She was efficient and responded to all emails in a timely and professional manner. I recommend Mercia movers for any move. Thank you!

Right from the start Mercia Movers gave out a reassuring friendly vibe.

Simon carried out the video assessment and was spot on with his assessment in terms of volume.

Everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly.

The team who moved us were respectful of our stuff, really efficient at packing and they worked so hard and had to deal with limited access out front of our apartment and we were on the 3rd floor.

We had no major issues with anything. If I was being really really picky there was a mark on back of 1 rug but nothing worth claiming against insurance on (note to myself to get rugs wrapped next time as they're vulnerable). To put this into perspective our stuff was moved out of our apartment, into smaller van out to the main truck on outskirts of the city, over to UK, back to a smaller truck and then to us. Its a credit to them that we have no breakages or damages

All in all and excellent experience with a company that I would definitely recommend and loved working with.

Mercia responded with a reply claiming my review is wrong and they didn’t mess up my move to California. I moved with them somewhere else and not California and they took 4 months to deliver my stuff and fraudulently overcharged volume. My original reply is below.

Merica movers overcharge. I was given an initial estimate and then when the movers came I was told that I need pay for additional shipping space. When their local partner delivered the goods to my place their bill of lading had capacity that was almost exactly to the initial estimate in terms of space. When I inquired about the difference with Mercia movers I was told that the local USA carrier "eye balled" the volume and that our volume was correct.

I recently moved all the goods to my permanent address in the USA and the local carrier charged me the same volume as the local carrier which was way less than the volume over charged by mercia. When I told them about the situation the driver said "you fell for the oldest trick in the book" and that LTL carriers never "eyeball" anything and volume is very accurate.

Very unethical that I was 1) over charged volume 2) lied that Mercias local partner who had lower volume "eyeballed it" 3) My goods sat around for 4 months before being delivered with some excuse given regarding port congestion whilst I had colleagues have their shipments arrive in 4-6 weeks from Europe.

My advice to anyone is 1) Contractually confirm the delivery date to receive your goods t 2) Don't be fooled by them saying you need to book more space.
3) Just don't deal with them at all knowing that they were play the "oldest trick in the book" with overcharging.

Having moved many times, I have to say that Mercia Removers have been outstanding.
I moved from Germany to England and they took care of everything. They sent a smaller vehicle that could fit into the car park. As I lived on the third floor they organised an extra man, from a German removal company, to help remove the larger items. Every detail was carefully planned.

I used moved Mercia Movers for a move from Derbyshire across to Sydney in Australia.

I was unsure initially how to approach moving as this is the first time, we as a family, had moved but from my first contact with Mercia I felt at ease, and special thanks to the Operations Team there who helped guide me through the paperwork required for customs otherwise I would have been lost! The packing team were extremely thorough and efficient.

The goods arrived here in Sydney. The only delay was when the goods got to port but that was down to customs – everything appears so much slower in Australia, the lifestyle is brilliant but then some of the services need a bit of a kick now and again! Once cleared, the goods arrived in great shape and I can now relax. Please read the negative reviews before allowing Mercia Movers to take possession of your items, as these reviews reflect their business ethics and a pattern to how this company operates. Concerning reviews, I wrote a review about my dissatisfaction with Mercia Movers back in September 2022 and
soon after, I was offered £150 to remove my review which I declined. This review is an update of that one as I have now accepted, I will no longer receive a refund after months of trying and enduring one
issue after another. The first problem I had with Mercia Movers was that my furniture sat for four months in a heated container going nowhere. Updates were nonexistent, and they only answered when I emailed them. Four times I was given a date for departure which all came and went without progress. I finally received my items eight months after they were collected, however, the second problem I had with Mercia Movers was that many of my items were broken, marked, scrapped, and defective. I had
taken out removal insurance at a cost of £335 but was told that they were unable to agree to a total loss of the items I claimed for? So, I received £100 for a marked, scraped bed base which I insured for £600, and which was in excellent condition before the move. I also received money back for a large floor
standing vase and marble table, both arrived smashed to pieces. They informed me that everything else that was broken, was not covered? Their excuse was that each item boxed needs to be itemized at
packing time. This is confusing as Mercia Movers packed all my stuff? Also, each broken item was acknowledged and recorded on their forms at unpacking time, but this means FA when seeking a claim. And apparently, electrical/ mechanical items are not covered if no external damage exists. So, my TV,
printer, shredder, and wall clock that now do not work, probably because they sat in a metal container for four months throughout 2022 summer, are unclaimable. Basically, I had £1054 worth of damage and they paid me £180. Third issue with Mercia Movers and probably the biggest, OVERCHARGING. They
charged me for using 14.2m3 in a container. Sixteen months prior, I had moved from Australia to the UK using a different shipping company and my furniture/items took up 7m3 space. As I had one or two more items going back, I assumed the area usage would be a little over 7m3. I was ‘gob smacked’ to
hear it would be double. They informed me of this after they had collected my stuff so I had no option but to pay for 14.2m3. I did question this, and I got answers, but they seem to be just excuses. However, they agreed to pay me a refund of 2m3 totaling £631. A few months later, I received an invoice stating
the total space used was in fact 9.1m3. I delayed accepting a 2m3 refund until I spoke with the International Consumer Services (ICC), a mediation organization. But at the end of the day, the ICC has
no authority, and as Mercia Movers refused any liability, I would have to go through the legal system to get any reimbursement. And now, after months of sleepless nights, the ICC has informed me that Mercia Movers have refused to pay me the £631, so I’m out of pocket by 5.1m3 not just 3.1m3. If I can prevent another person going through nine months of misery by this review, I’ll gladly forfeit my losses. Mercia Movers appear so friendly to begin with but once they have your belongings, they are full of excuses, overcharge, bad communication and absolutely no agreeable customer service if you complain. THEY DESERVE NO STARS.

The reply from Mercia Movers is absolutely mind-boggling?? They are trying to justify bad performance and put all the blame on me the consumer. I have no control over how my furniture was stored after collection, whether that be in one storage container or two. Surely, like all the other shipping companies, it comes down to the total cubic metres used, not how they store your belongings before being moved to the shipping container. And I’m not sure how a customer can know EXACTLY the amount being shipped before an estimate. Also, I have no idea what they’re talking about when they say, my items were in a self store before collection and that I packed them myself? They packed all items at my house. I’ve had ten months of these excuses and by the way, I was living in the UK when I advised them of an APPROXIMATE calculation, not Australia…
They still haven’t explained after all this, why I was charged for 14.2m3 and I used 9.1m3?

We used Mercia Movers to help us to relocate from UK to Lyon (France). We had a lot of possessions as we wanted to take all of our belongings with us. We needed a big truck and many boxes! We found Mercia Movers to be very helpful in every regard. They were extremely attentive and responsive and always easy to get hold of. The crew that did all the heavy work were also very courteous and helpful. They did a great job for us. I highly recommend them.

We used Mercia Movers for transporting some of our household contents to South Africa. Communication prior to moving day was excellent. Queries via email were promptly and clearly responded to. The team that arrived to pack was efficient and friendly, although we had a slight issue with some items being left behind due to space constraints. Better communication by the team on the day would have enabled us to prioritize the packed items. The consignment was successfully handled and arrived at its destination with minimal hassle.
