None of the USB ports that I tried throughout the airport (integrated into seats and at tables) worked as of early July 2026. Just provide working power outlets everywhere. USB is a security hazar... Mehr ansehen

Awful experience, hard to get low quality WiFi, power plugs that do not work, dirty and waste everywhere, staff in shop with big attitude issues and do not want to work
Passengers had been bullied and humiliated by Geneva Airport ground staff 04July2026– Flight no. TK1920 Ground crew are very rude and bully passengers, keep insulting
Outdated security systems still require you to remove liquids and electronics from bags, but signage leaves much to be desired. Small TVs above security demonstrate more slowly than the time you are... Mehr ansehen

Dreadful airport
Dreadful airport. No signage, no staff to ask, no seating apart for a few upstairs (but no signs to tell you where to go) Only one water fountain in the whole of the airport. Filthy toilets. So much for Swiss efficiency. Enough said...
Arrived on the France side with a wheelchair...
Arrived on the France side of the airport and when we tried to navigate our way to the Swiss side, my father's wheelchair would not fit between the poles designed to stop luggage trollies passing through. Access would have been fruitless in any case as on the other side were only escalators and stairs ... no lifts. Was met with possibly the most unhelpful response from ground staff with responses ranging from a shrug or 'I just work here...' once we finally obtained assistance having been sent down several dead ends, we were late for our flight. As members of our party rushed through the chaos of passport control, they were advised by some officious, obnoxious member of ground staff:'you should have got here earlier' ! Unbelievably unhelpful.
Huge praise goes to GVA assistance who came to my father's eventual rescue and were very kind and helpful.
Geneva Airport: you let down your magnificent country.
Just Horrible !
Swiss London to GVA plane was 1.5 hours delayed … did not get out at a gate but had to take a bus … walked then 20 min as none of the 4 escalators were working !
Luggage supposed to come out on belt 6 … half of it came … we waited another 30 min … nothing … then someone told us to check belt 3 where it was laying one on top of the other ! It’s prime holiday time !!! ??? Get better service in a third world country airport than in Switzerland!
If you want the worst possible airport experience: Geneva will provide it!
Based upon my experience I believe the airport is the worst I have been to. Dirty toilets, disorganised and slack security and farcical immigration lines. When you think Switzerland you thing accuracy and quality. Those traits would never apply to this awful, joke of an airport.
Not as bad as I was led to believe
I was apprehensive about travelling through Geneva airport due to very negative reviews however my experience was not quite as bad as others described.
I arrived in from Ireland on a Sunday evening at 5pm. The passport control queue was fairly long for us EU citizens but moved quickly. I was about 10 minutes queuing to go through self service passport check. I had hand luggage only so cannot comment on time waiting for baggage. The airport was quite crowded but I made my way easily to the train station for connecting train.
Return journey was on a Friday evening 6 pm flight. Airport was very crowded and with temperate of 29 degrees very warm. I checked in online with hand luggage so did not use check in desks or baggage drop counter. I had booked priority for security queue so got through with only one other person ahead of me. From what I could see the ordinary queue was not too long either and people seemed to be getting through easily enough.
As others have said shops, cafe’s and duty free very expensive. No seating to be found apart from cafe areas. Departure gate not put up until one hour before flight so cannot sit at gate where ample seating available. Passport control on this occasion was a breeze to get through for EU passports, straight through with no queue at all, again self check booths. Once at boarding gate there was no indoor walkway to aircraft. We were all packed like sardines onto a hot bus which I could only compare to a sauna. There were only a couple of seats so the majority of us had to stand crushed against fellow passengers. Overall an average airport experience made worse by extremely high outdoor temperature and crowded terminal
Passport control absolutely the worst…
Passport control absolutely the worst had another one &half hour queue to get through.and this is the new part of the airport terminal get back to Manchester 5 minutes to get through Passport control.
Shocking wait at passport control
Shocking wait at passport control. 5 staff members for all passengers in Terminal 1. Currently over 1 1/2 hours wait to get through. Come on Swiss people you can do better.
Yet again terrible passport arrivals…
Yet again terrible passport arrivals queues. 1.5 hour delay and absolutely no attempt to improve this situation. The Swiss know how to make the British unwelcome
Very badly organised
Very badly organised, boiling hot even in early June, overcrowded, nowhere to charge the phone, and one socket that is actually there doesn’t properly fit eu adapter. Queues in duty free with incompetent staff unable to organise the job…information desk employee a bit unpleasant…confusion where to go for security, additional confusion with French part. One of the worst airports in Europe.
The worst experience going to security…
The worst experience going to security I have ever had. The guy made me toss a lot of money worth of creams and just treated me horrible.
I am shocked!
Incredibly long waiting time for…
Incredibly long waiting time for passport control. Hundreds of people waiting.
Most overpriced airport in the world…
The most overpriced airport in the world… 2 sandwiches and 2 soft drinks, 45 Swiss francs, absolute disgrace and this was the cheapest food outlet once we went air-side. Once food purchased we had nowhere to sit as seating is so limited… People sitting in the eating areas without purchasing / eating food. People just sitting on the floors and luggage lying everywhere…
Also beware of duty free prices, everything much more expensive than in UK shops.
I bought some Lindt Lindor chocolates, twice the price that I would have paid in the UK - then discovered when I got them home, the chocolate was obviously past its sell-by date, all chalky and gritty… Paid 17 Swiss francs for the pleasure!!
Staff in all the duty free shops were extremely rude.
Queues at the Border / Passport control leaving Geneva was dreadful, took almost an hour to get through and only 3 staff working. Even when travelling as a group, they only let 1 person through at a time, adding to the delays.
Airport is tired, dated and dirty, I will be avoiding Geneva in the future when planning my travels.
Worst airport I have ever experienced
Worst airport I have ever experienced. Huge distances to walk, enormous passport control queues on arrival and departure. The temperature melted the chocolate in my bag. It was sweltering in there. Once through the security scanners, it was chaos airside. There was no space to sit anywhere, the cafe's were crammed with passengers. I genuinely don't know how people with health conditions cope with this airport. It must make people ill from the heat, the distances and the lack of places to sit down.
I travel a lot and it is the worst airport I have ever visited...which shocked me considering the wealth in Switzerland
Awful
Slow, inefficient, threadbare and staffed by rude and indifferent people. Why can Geneva not run an airport as efficiently and professionally as Zurich? Zurich is world class, Geneva is useless
Very long waits at passport control
I have to use the airport a lot and the passport control arrivals and departures is terrible. Usually a 1 to 1.5hrs wait on arrival and plane had to be delayed on departure recently as it took so long to get people through after gate was called as it’s after security. Very badly organised.
What a terrible airport
What a terrible airport. A 200m queue for non EU passport holders on arrival and an even longer queue for immigration on departure. The whole airport is massively over crowded and chaotic. Nowhere to sit and tiny restaurants jammed to capacity. We were sent to the wrong EasyJet queue on our departure so waited for 30 minutes only to be told at the desk that we had to join the back of an even bigger queue further down the departure hall. We were kept waiting in the departure lounge far too long. There were so many people on our flight delayed by immigration queues right back to duty free (300m) the flight was delayed by 30 minutes. The airport staff in red T-shirts were clueless and refused let us jump the queue to board our flight. You could hear constant final calls for many other flights with missing passenger who I assume were in the same huge queue we were in. Total chaos and I will avoid this airport at all cost in future. It is a disgrace…you have been warned.
IT CANNOT COPE WITH INCREASED DEMAND
I have used Geneva airport for years but never before during the ski season. The airport just cannot cope. Flying in we had very long delays at Border Control, followed by a 50 minute queue for a prebooked car hire. On the way out we were not allowed to book in more than 2 hours 30 minutes before our flight. The rude check in staff just told us to go away so they could carry on with their conversation. There is no seating in departures so we stood for 40 minutes by the bins. Then Border Control had half the booths open - so the queues to exit the country were 45 minutes. A horrible experience (and apparently it is worse on Saturdays)
Easily one of the worst experiences…
Easily one of the worst experiences I've ever had at an airport. The airport is inadequately sized for the amount of flights they are accepting, clearly.
There was a huge huge delay for getting through a passport control (easily over an hour in a line) which it doesn't take a genius to realize will happen if you reroute 10 flights (I counted them) to 'go to gate/boarding' at the same time through a bottle neck.
Outside of this, you could see huge amounts of people sitting on the ground because the airport simply has nowhere enough seats, and also the staff were absolutely hopeless and had clearly zero training on how to handle any crowds or situations.
On top of this the actual facilities are average (4g doesn't seem to reach the airport so you need to find a booth for a printout receipt for WiFi access??) And the cost of food is ridiculous. A burger at the only option for a burger (that I could see anyway) was 30 CHF. Which is about £30.
Overall, coming in and leaving Geneva airport has been the worst airport experience I have ever had and I will be doing everything in my power never to come to this airport again, as will my friends with me.
Crowded
Crowded, lack of seating, abysmal WiFi and overpriced. Unfortunately no improvements from previous visits.
What an absolute shambles of an…
What an absolute shambles of an airport.
We have been shuttled back and forth between the 2 Terminals for hours.
The security queues were unacceptably long, as there were very few staff.
The passport control on leaving the airport was farcical to be truthful. Woefully understaffed and apparently a single booth shift change means all staff have to stop what they are doing, for a nice chat.
Then there are the baggage handlers. What can I say. 2 hours after our scheduled departure and they still have not all arrived.
Is this really the service you expect from an International Airport?
If I could leave 0 Stars, I would.
