Horrible company and overall experience. Maintance never appeared to carry out repairs and for over £900 a month you’d expect better. So much for 24 hour security you’re lucky if anyone’s at the desk... Mehr ansehen

Great student accommodation in a good…
Great student accommodation in a good location with everything around you. Worth the price. Friendly and helpful staff all year round, nothing to complain about!
Avoid if you have other choices
I lived in one of the buildings for around 2/3 years so I feel like I managed to get a good idea on how I feel and long story short no I wouldn’t recommend.
Pros:
- Management staff were always very friendly and there to help with anything I needed
- lobby and hallways very clean and kept on top of especially during pandemic
- Free coffee was a plus (when it was working of course)
- gym, cinema and dinning room in the building really came in handy sometimes for socialising although during pandemic these were either restricted or closed with no money back
- ideal location, perfect for work and right in the middle of the city near a very nice area
- apartments are well looked after and although the first studio I had was dirty when I moved in, the situation was very quickly handled and other than that I couldn’t fault the quality of the studio
- accidentally damaged something within the studio and landlord let me off, which I really appreciated and thank them for
Cons:
- I’m a girl and lived alone in one of the small studios so you can imagine having maintenance men several times and one time even another resident just walk into your apartment without a previous warning really shook me (maintenance let him in thinking it was his apartment) the one while I was in the shower really effected me and scared me. This unfortunately didn’t happen just a couple times and more like several that it just became the norm, I never really felt safe because of it and I always worried about showering because I knew someone could just walk in at any point, so I had to begin locking the door to the bathroom. Although they did email most of the time for fire maintenance etc, there seemed to be a lot of ‘emergencies’ that weren’t really emergencies at all and should have probably given us all 24 hours notice.
- despite the pros it is quite expensive for what you get and I didn’t realise that at the time until I rented afterwards, I used to pay £650 for one tiny studio whereas now I split bills with a partner and only pay £390 for a 2 bedroom large flat
- during the pandemic they didn’t offer students their money back or a reduced rent amount even when they weren’t there for months on end, this really bothered me because all the rent money wasn’t just for rent, it was also for utilities too that wasn’t getting used, so overall they pocketed the money
- they used circuit laundry
- honestly I could go on and on but I do feel like my other complaints are just very petty and had more to do with problems with neighbours more than the actual company or building
Pros and cons
Great accomodation in Cardiff. All mod cons. Just make sure you don't fall into financial hardship as you will be pursued ruthlessly even if a crisis has caused your hardship.
Kayleigh and Jane very helpful
Beware international students
Beware international students. I stayed for 3 months at Vernon House over the summer. I had a wonderful time in London and had enjoyed my stay at Vernon House until it was time to receive my security deposit back in full which I was told by the property manager I was eligible for. After 3 months I still haven't gotten 1,785 pounds back. They have continuously told me that they sent the wire, that's it's cleared, and been transferred to my account, which I and my bank can attest is not the case. Furthermore, they have ignored my request to place a trace on the wire, which makes me think that they never sent it. When asked, they sent a payment details report that did not have complete information filled out on it and did not have any information required in order to trace the wire. Save yourself the hassle and rent through another agency.
Place is great
Place is great, and pretty affordable too.
Does not care about the health of its…
Does not care about the health of its tenants. We have had a broken oven for months that smokes out the whole room and heats up so much the cutlery drawers are hot to touch. There is no ventilation in our flat no window, only a glass fire door to the outside that “cannot be opened”.the only way we can get the kitchen to a normal temperature and without smoke is to open the door to the corridor. The maintenance/ grounds people know about this problem yet still steal every doorstop we buy and do not care about our well-being. constantly in and out of kitchens and rooms without permission. We had one maintenance person who opened the fire door for us as he could see it gets so dangerous in there but the grounds person just kept shutting it and taking all door stops and ventilation away
Edinburgh CRM.
This is my second year staying at Haddington place, and I have had very few issues at all. I stayed here throughout covid, not leaving to go home in fear of potentially getting stuck, and felt incredibly supported by staff during the pandemic. They go above and beyond to make you feel safe, worry free and the place is honestly so lovely to live. Glad I didn't choose somewhere else.
Perfect location, really great communal areas too. The only few faults I can point out are the fire alarms, temperature and laundry. The laundry is a tad expensive, the rooms are so hot! And the fire alarms go off a few times a week, but that's just student accommodation for you. I'm here for the second year it's so good. Highly reccomend.
I wouldn't let these other comments bother you. People are obviously angry at the situation. Don't go home through covid if there's a chance you might get stuck and miss out. I heard many people were helped and didn't have to pay the remainder, when it came to not being able to move down at the start of the year. unsure what happened to these guys. We're past that anyway!
Love love love.

Stayed here for a year as a working professional and have nothing bad to say about anything. The staff have been very accommodating and especially Mat Page who i have been dealing with since day 1.
Close to virtually everything in the city.
They only slight downfall was the size of the apartment but honestly its more then enough for any student for an academic year!!
Like a lot of the people here have…
Like a lot of the people here have reviewed I was as well forced to pay the full amount of rent for an accommodation I am not picking up the keys. Do not give this corrupt company any money. They don't care at all about their students in this pandemic
DON’T STAY IN ANY OF THEIR ACCOMMODATION!
My experience living in CRM accommodation has been nothing but stressful and inconvenient. I as well as many other students have not received any sort of refund or compensation for the situation of COVID-19, in where i have only been able to stay in my accommodation for 3 months but i still have to pay my contract for the whole year. We have tried to talk to management and other staff about this but nothing has still been done. This has left me, not only financially but also mentally unstable.
- During my stay there it has also been very inconvenient with reoccurring problems with heating, shower being clogged, fire alarms going off all the time and so on.
These problems are not only experienced by me but also by many students who have/are living in this accommodation. They have no consideration for the situation of students who may be having financial or mental problems due to this.
This should be something no student should experience and therefore i don't recommend staying in any of their accommodations.
DON'T BOOK.
Horrible experience. I've been stuck outside the UK for months and my room has been empty but I am still forced to pay full price for it. They don't respect students. In Manchester at CRM Ropemaker Court there's a big rat problem and nobody is doing anything about it. One staff member even told me that "it's normal".
They IGNORED student petitions for rent reduction and had the audacity to say that "everyone is experiencing financial problems". Yeah well not everyone has to pay for a room they're not using
No means of understanding for their…
No means of understanding for their students when it comes to the accommodation payment. I haven't been in the accommodation for nearly over a month due to the advice on not traveling unless its essential but most importantly looking out for my own mental wellbeing during this time of the pandemic, yet I was still required to pay FULL price payment. This is utterly disappointing.
10 reasons to (and not to) stay with CRM.
10 reasons to choose CRM, 10 not to:
Hi. On the whole, the CRM building I’m staying in (Luneside, if you’re interested) is actually quite nice. There are some things that need work but it’s also a newbuild, so this is worth considering.
Reasons not to stay in CRM accommodation:
1- THEY USE CIRCUIT LAUNDRY!!! Like damn I really hate that. £10 a wash, having to use a stupidly made app? I thought I’d only have to deal with them on campus. But no. The shifty vultures get everywhere, and unless I want to walk a mile with my dirty laundry, I am forced to suck it up.
2- The doors don’t open sometimes. I often get stuck in the conservatory downstairs. The doors just don’t open! It doesn’t matter how many times you swipe the fob, sometimes you’re just stuck there until it decides to work. This can be really infuriating, especially when I’m late leaving for a lecture/ seminar. I much prefer normal keys. Plus they’re probably cheaper to replace if lost.
3- Safety measures can get frustrating, IE: Very sensitive fire alarms, windows barely open. Can often feel like freedoms are heavily restricted, especially during lockdown.
4- Having air con or not is pot luck. My neighbour has it but in this flat we don’t. Then again he struggles with...
5- Heating. The heating is timed. I’m living in the North West of England.. mornings can be rough. And sometimes the radiator just doesn’t turn on at all! BUT, CRM has listened, and the great people who work here have said they’re looking/ able to fix the issue.
6- Oven doesn’t inform you when it’s at desired temperature. This can be especially frustrated when combined with issues stated in no. 3, as excessive smoke can often occur in the oven. Maybe that’s just me though.
7- Windows condensate, once this stops, puddles build up around the windows from the inside.
8- Gym equipment is often dysfunctional.
9- THE LIGHT SENSORS MAN!! I can turn switches off. I know not everyone can. But I now call my corridor ‘the cryidor’, as when it’s late and dark, I have to put my hands over my eyes like I’m crying to get to the kitchen. I just really hate it. Same goes for bathrooms. I like darkness.
9&1/2 and 10- Hobs eventually turn themselves off automatically, and the extractor fan isn’t very powerful.
Reasons to use CRM accommodation:
1- The staff on the whole are lovely people. I had some rough patches with them to begin with, but that’s why they’re great. We got over it so well and now I’d say I genuinely get along with everyone who works here. They’re always there for a chat. They’re incredibly helpful and genuine people who go the extra mile for the residents safety and general wellbeing.
2- The place is easy to keep clean. Not only does also it look good untouched, but making a room here your own is, in my experience, quite fun. A typical mix of plants and lights and the same place is now my very own universe. I love my room.
3- A nice view, if you’re lucky.
4- Wifi is very fast.
5- kitchens are spacious and finding rooms in fridges is easy enough (I found)
6- Always have events on. I don’t really do them right now because of lockdown and work. But it’s nice to know there are things going on.
7- The residents here are great people.
8- There’s a gym and a garden.
9- Pubs all around!!!
10- Just a generally decent place.
To conclude:
I think CRM needs to work on their values between both safety and residential freedom. Not being able to open a window fully, when it gets hot, because I might “fall out” is just annoying, especially when others can open them fully. Just general fairness needs to be taken into consideration, as some flats seem to have got a better deal, despite paying the same amount!
I think more work should be done in the gym and communal areas. The main machine has been broken for like, 5 months now, and the communal areas need bins.
Do not stay here.
Firstly, after moving in at the beginning of September the room was filthy as well as the kitchen, the surfaces in the room as well as the bathroom (including the actual shower and toilet) were covered in some sort of grime and dust. The rent is extortionate for what you receive and you will receive no support apart from an occasional email from the site manager which will provide absolutely nothing. There is a bullying problem at the accommodation and those involved are the ones who have a good relationship with the site manager. In terms of support during the pandemic there has been absolutely none. We received a guilt tripping email that made it seem like it was a choice that we are not returning to the accommodation and not the ongoing national lockdown which means we are legally unable to return. We have been refused financial assistance and any questions go unanswered or are entirely vague. Do not stay here, numerous tenants leave within the first 2 weeks and if you have the sense to try leave any later you will once again receive no help with leaving the tenancy or selling your room on. This is a horrible place for students leaving home for the first time and you will be taken advantage of.
No regard for student mental health, pure greed
I actually give CRM zero stars, but that is not an option.
My daughter is suffering from very bad mental health and has been advised not to return to her private student halls as the isolation will be very bad for her and they don't know what might happen. The GP wrote a letter stating this and we forwarded it to CRM but they have rejected the request to cancel the contract. She will not be returning, as she is very unstable but apparently being so unwell that you cannot leave your home due to being very mentally unwell is not a valid enough reason to be released from your contract. Disgusting.
I would give them ZERO stars if I…
I would give them ZERO stars if I could. In the last 10months we have all had to make sacrificed except CRM it seems. They are still charging students who have limited means to earn, FULL rent for a fraction of the services and facilities . All communal areas have been out of bounds throughout. We know why but Covid but the savings they are making in not running these services. Having furloughed staff are not being past on at all to their residents. DISGRACEFULL. If you want to know your children are being fairly treated by their landlord rent elsewhere. They say they treat each resident on merit in a copied and pasted note sent to any resident that questions them.
DO NOT RENT A ROOM WITH CRM/Lumis.
DO NOT RENT A ROOM WITH CRM/Lumis.
Only if I could rate 0 stars. CRM are an absolute joke. Due to the pandemic, I have not been living in the student flat for over a month and have been with my family.
Yet, I'm still bring charged the same amount of rent and had to pay over £2000 for an installment. Whereas, other nearby student accomodations in Cardiff have been offering their students 50% off their rent as they're aware students aren't living in the accomodation during these difficult times.
I will not be coming back to Lumis.
“Student Wellbeing”
This pandemic has been so hard on all of us, but students in particular have struggles both financially and mentally.
We’re paying full price for facilities which have been closed for the majority of our time, whilst being told that they would remain open through lockdown from the manager himself.
The rooms were not properly cleaned upon arrival, the so called ‘student-well-being’ there always on about is a complete lie. The only thing this company care about is money.
I STRONGLY suggest you NEVER book accommodation under CRM. They are a fabricated company that appear to care about their students, when in reality they do not.
DO NOT BOOK ACCOM WITH CRM
What an Awful Awful student accomodation company !
I’ve never know such poor maintenance and hygiene standards as well as disregard for student safety and wellbeing.
