This is a lovely place to live
This is a lovely place to live! The staff are really kind and helpful, and there are loads of great common areas to sit and socialise with others in the building, which makes staying away from home a lot easier (the cinema room seems to be everyone’s favourite on a chilled night in!).
Edinburgh College Residences Review
After a housing crisis in Edinburgh, Edinburgh College Residences was the only place still available to move into by the time my semester began. While I can't say I enjoy my hour and a half commute, the facilities have been great. The rooms and their en-suites come in great condition, with a fair amount of storage space. The kitchen is nice and fairly modern. I have not personally ever needed any repairs, but when one of my flatmates did, that was dealt with in a timely manner. I also had a lot of stuff delivered from self storage prior to moving in (I had previously lived in a semi-furnished flat). They stored it with no problem for about a week before I arrived. If you go to Edinburgh College, or somewhere else nearby, it is a great location as it is directly next to a huge supermarket and a gym. Overall, my experience has been very positive.

i’ve had a great experience with this company. no problems at all with them and can only say good things. my only wish is that i could pay weekly or monthly instead of 2 instalments as im struggling to pay back on time without asking help from parents.

Amazing time staying here, any problems get sorted out really quickly even got a whole new fridge the next day. Lovely staff who really make you feel at home and taken care of.
Avoid anywhere run by CRM Students
They will set up a payment plan for you; which you pay in full and on time. Then they forget that they set up a payment plan, threaten with debt collectors at your home address and charge you for the experience by not returning your deposit.
They also take 5 months to reply to an email.
Useless - find somewhere not run by CRM Students.

Window broken in kitchen (Jammed open so freezing cold). Did not fix for over 3 months. They said they did not write it down. They just did not mark down that the window was broken even though the previous company were emailed about it and so were they.
Lift broken for moveout days (Over a month with no fix in sight).
Internet speed illegally advertised as "Superfast" by previous owner when it does not meet OFCOM's definition of 30Mbps download speed (It was 20). CRM would not fix.
Any refunds? No

Biggest scam company ever
Biggest scam company ever. They don't refund you your money, despite their own policy. Aside from that, they try to put you off by telling you that your refund is being processed while it never is.
Marichelle and Alasdair are the most horribly lazy people I have ever come across and should get fired immediately over there EXTREME incompetence.
Hope they know I have an attorney and will be taking legal action against them.

I can only speak very highly of the service we have received from the new Crown Place accommodation in Swansea. My son has signed a contract with them, but is now unsure whether he will be able to start his course, and won't know until 19th of September... 19 days after his first rent payment is due. CRM have been very sympathetic to his circumstances and are holding his room until he finds out on 19th, without receiving his first payment. Can't say fairer than that. Thank you such CRM and the accommodation manager!

Now I am asking for my deposit and I have heard nothing from them. The woman - AMBER was my agent and she was very unprofessional! She is not answering my messages and calls! I would NOT recommend

I have been emailing them since May about some questions that I have for my check-in in september and they still haven’t replied to any of my emails. Plus, a friend of mine is trying to cancel since she’s not doing erasmus anymore and she still hasn’t been able to cancel her booking.
Avoid using CRM
Not been impressed at all with issues all stemming from incompetence from the management.
At the start of the year, the letting agent changed to CRM students. When taken over, CRM said that they did not have any contact details, any tenancy agreements or a list of who was living in each apartment. All tenants were contacted almost a month afterwards but some who did not know who to contact for any issues, rent payments, etc were in doubt. There was no decency to have a letter put under each apartment door or letter boxes explaining the situation and/or what to do.
The property has had 3 break-ins when living there. One of these break-ins was during CRM running the building. This included someone being able to access the roof. After each time, no preventive measures were taken.
After Easter, I came back to the apartment where there was no hot water. It was reported after 2 days to remove doubt that the hot water tank could have been empty. I then waited 2 weeks to then be told I would have to wait another 2-3 weeks for the issue to be looked. I find it hard to believe that they cannot find a plumber or someone to come from another building CRM runs in Sheffield. The time waited was reduced to 2 and half weeks after a complaint was submitted. Would I have been told to wait 4-5 weeks for this repair during winter?
Towards the end of the tenancy, I used the laundry room and gained access to use a washer. On return about an hour later, the fob would not let me into the room and neither did 2 other tenant’s fobs. At this point, it was an issue with the lock rather than the fobs and needed washing urgently as it had work uniform in. I was told to call the out-of-hours contractors to open the door but would have to pay a fee of at least £35. CRM were not prepared to pay or reimburse me the money despite the issue being out of my control and not my fault.

Poor experience
Poor experience, porter always gone and inconsistently notifies people when their mail has arrived. Didn't have a porter for months, thus communication for specific things became a nearly impossible. Lived in their "Studio" in Lancaster huge waste of money. Sharing 2 big kitchen amongst 50+ people makes theft inevitable and holding thus accountable tricky. "Kitchen" in the "studio" room is a microwave and a terrible fridge. Equipment for gym constantly broken. And only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers amongst 50+ student once again a terrible idea. Truly a last minute thing otherwise far better priced and facilities in other accomodation elsewhere. Benefits large room, lots of storage ensuite, 3/4 bed, large desk and good internet but stupid ethernet port design/location which results in 98% ethernet cables unable to fit without modification which will eventually damage the cable also bad desk chair, was willing to pay for a replacement and they give me a kitchen chair for free instead when my desk chair broke. No wonder the original porter left so much work and managing for one person when there should be multiple

Leeks and Floods - zip Leicester
I would really like to emphasise. DO NOT BOOK FLAT 34 OLD ZIP. We experienced 2 major leaks one cutting off our mains and setting the fire alarm off, and a few minor leaks where we could hear water dripping on the ceiling. We also had a flood in which a main pipe burst and we had to move out (however alternative accommodation was provided) the company made no effort to inform me of my flooded flat as I was out of town when it happened and I was informed through my roommate who gave me all the wrong details to go forward with. It wasn’t until I called them and they still didn’t really know what to do.
Since the flood (March 2022, now June 2022) they have not correctly aired out the basement atrium and so I’m sure there is mould growing in there as it currently smells like death
Also side note don’t get a basement flat as the windows are tiny and you get no ventilation and through living here for two years (including the pandemic) it’s taught me how important windows are for your mental health.
I was staying in the Zip Building in Leicester. CRM took over from homes for student with no notice in October. We didn’t have any access to post (there were post boxes but no keys were provided and were told to send packages to yoho building which is a 20/30 min walk away)
Hot water is frequently out of order and wifi loves to disconnect from my phone, laptop and iPad, which really sucks
It is in a great location close to the uni and centre of town. And my temporary accommodation in flat 11 (old build zip) was lovely
New caring manager needed
The Lumis cardiff manager has terrible customer service skills. They also lie alot and back track when confronted.
Worse thing is, they do dont care about the well being of students ..it's just a 9-5 to them.
