Returned a faulty item 3 weeks after…

Returned a faulty item 3 weeks after purchase, was told they had processed a refund (which legally I am entitled to) Cotswold then emailed a credit voucher, 20 minutes waiting for customer services to answer phone still not sorted….

A fantastic online and in store experience

Absolutely brilliant experience with Cotswold Outdoor in Harrogate.

I managed to cause myself a bit of trouble at checkout online (entirely my own fault!), but the online support team were incredible — lightning fast to respond, genuinely attentive, and sorted everything out with no fuss at all. It instantly turned what could have been a stressful moment into a really positive one.

When I went in to collect my order in store, the experience just got better. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in, the click & collect process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were friendly, approachable, and clearly happy to help. Even on the way out I was acknowledged with a cheerful goodbye, which is such a small thing but makes a big difference.

From online support to in-store service, the whole experience felt professional, welcoming, and genuinely customer-focused. A great team and a shop I’ll happily keep coming back to

Very disappointed

Ordered from Cotswold despite it being more expensive than others as offered next day delivery. Item still not received 3 days later - why a company would risk its reputation using such an unreliable courier is beyond comprehension. From looking at the reviews that I wish I had read prior to ordering it’s a common issue.

I experienced great customer service…

I experienced great customer service from Leo in the Catterick store this morning, he was very helpful and went above and beyond to help find the right walking trousers for me, he had a great knowledge in the trousers he was helping me with and they fitted perfectly he also recommend treatment products which were on sale in the store to help keep the trousers I purchased lasting longer which was a great extra, lovely young man I will be highly recommending to family and friends to visit the Catterick store in the future.

Needed a pair of hiking boots for new…

Needed a pair of hiking boots for new adventures.

Made an appointment, Leslie listened to my requirements and came up with the right boots quickly

He measured my feet - when was the last time anyone did that?

Turns out I was too big for my (old) boots

The answer, bigger boots 😂

Then it was a matter of trialling them on the rocky ascent and the slippery descent ramp to make sure they suited my needs

Great advice on walking style and boot care too

Can’t wait to try them out in the wild

Another few purchases today

Another few purchases today. This time Edinburgh, great service, brilliant selection of products too.

Been to many CO stores around the country and it’s the same everywhere, knowledgeable people and the best brands.

I also get the chance of using my discount card, so even better.

CO is always my go to with regard men’s clothing.RAB, TNF, Fjalraven and Patagonia my usual choices.

When not in a CO location, I’ve always found their website easy to navigate and online shopping including delivery is as convenient as can be.

Keep up the good work.

Very disappointed with Cotswold Outdoors- loved the shops but not the online experience

I ordered an item on Friday 23rd Jan with a promise of Next Day Delivery. The item appears to have reached the courier Evri in time for next day delivery but since then I’ve been getting a message saying delayed and they will attempt to get the item out next day. After six days I was still getting same message. I contacted Cotswold Outdoors who advised they were looking into it and had asked Evri to send out item ASAP, to no avail. I have now been asked by Cotswold Outdoors to complete a declaration form for them to process the refund or replacement. This is very unsatisfactory as I have no printer and it can’t be done online. I bought and paid for goods in good faith and feel like I’m having to jump through hoops to get a refund!

Thank you for your response to my review. I have now also received information from your customer support team advising that I didn’t need to print form; this was after I contacted them following their initial advice which clearly stated the form did need to be printed. It would have been helpful to provide this option at the outset.

The declaration form does not need to be printed. Please contact our Customer Service team, as they will be able to help you complete the form online. This is required as part of the courier’s process before we can arrange a refund or replacement, and once it’s completed we’ll be able to move things forward as quickly as possible.

ORDER DELAY USING DHL

I ordered something on 19 January this year and it was sent out (by DHL!) 21 January. Despite constant emails to them, all they could say was it has been delayed (main problem with DHL). Cotswold did not keep me updated unless I emailed them and even then it was "sorry for the delay" which didn't help in the slightest. I have used Cotswold before and the service was excellent but this time it was poor. Shame. Oh, the item I bought did not come in the original bag and some of the pockets were open which suggests that this was a return as the item was out of stock when I checked many websites.

I have since heard from Cotswold Outdoor who say they want to “put things right”. How can they do that? Turn back the clock? I will await their response now I have given them the details by email.

Update 11 February: not a peep from Cotswold.

Now I have had a response today, 18 February. Only a month to do this.
Their reply said about the use of single use this and that but the original one I bought was in its own packaging so that makes their comments untrue for this item. Apparently, this makes it right.

It gets a 1 star only because there are no options for a less than 1 star

It gets a 1 star only because there are no options for a negative star rating. This company is using a courier that is worse than useless and they have a completely ineffective system of (so called) customer service.

Order placed 16 Jan, email from courier 17 Jan stating 'out for delivery' then 'unable to deliver next delivery due 24 January.'

Nothing since - it's now 26 January! The courier is useless and the company is pathetic. They even sent a 'request for feedback on customer service' before they'd given any customer service.



NEVER - NEVER again will I order online from this company.

Pathetic!

Your response is to ask me to send more details - What? Like the details I've already sent and received no response? This company is beyond pathetic.

YOU have failed to deliver - now refund or replace. It is NOT incumbent upon me to send you a declaration of non receipt it incumbent upon YOU to take your courier to task and require them to explain their incompetence.

I'm not interested in your internal processes. The relation between the courier and the supplier is for those parties alone. It is for YOU to verify with the courier the state of their delivery NOT me.

You are liable to fulfil the terms of the contract between us.

You have 24 hrs to confirm immediate replacement or refund at 16:00 30 Jan 26 I will contact my bank and arrange for the payment to be reversed unless you take immediate action.

What a shambles! Pathetic and a cast iron guarantee I will NEVER order from Cotswold Outdoor again.

Your incompetent courier actually delivered today 30 January after first having stated they would deliver 17 Jan, then 24 Jan (neither of which they did) then, out of the blue, delivered today 30 Jan 2 weeks late.

Your company name is tainted by your incompetent courier and massively sub-optimal customer service.

Failure to deliver is YOUR problem not mine.

Pathetic and guarantees no future business - EVER!

Excellent product advice from great staff

We went twice in 2 days-and bought 2 walking jackets and a pair of walking boots in the Liverpool store on Church Street. Served both times by Mark who gave excellent detailed advice and delighted with the purchases. Highly recommended!

Dreadful!

What has happened … I have spent a fortune with Snow & Rock which sadly is now part of Cotswold Outdoors?… my order on the 18/1 was acknowledged and on the 19/1 a message saying it’s on its way … then the weak link … Evri (useless)sent a message saying due to the package size it will be a “special courier”… by the way it was ski poles!… then nothing … no delivery and no response from customer service or their CEO!.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. I have a query regarding my return label and I have been on hold for over an hour over two days, the telephone rings but no one answers!
Both my husband and I were trying over 2 days!
Ridiculous & Unacceptable!
Why have a customer service helpline if you’re not going to answer the telephone?

Terrible customer service

Ordered a pair of shoes. Parcel arrived and its light weight suggested something wasn't right.
Sure enough they had only sent me one shoe. This was funny for about 10 seconds so now I'm the one inconvenienced having to sort out a return.
And they say 'simply pop into your local store'
There isn't one anywhere near me. The nearest is a 40 mile round trip.
If i'd read the reviews of how bad this company were, I'd not have bothered. no wonder they're no longer on the High Street

further to the above.. before posting this review I tried to ring Cotswold Outdoors. There was a 25 minute wait time so I gave up. I tried what I assume was their online chatbot 'Milly' who was of little use. However they did eventually send me a link to the Royal Mail who collected my single shoe today. The parcel has now gone. I doubt Cotswold Outdoors will return my money (£130+) as quickly as they took it?
They haven't actually bothered to message me to say when/if I'll get a replacement product or a refund.
So in conclusion CO Customer Services are probably expecting me to say how great they were at collecting my shoe (singular), but no. I'm extremely annoyed as I'm going away this weekend and I hoped to wear them on some long dog walks. So I at the moment I have no shoes and no money. I will never use this this company again and I suggest you do avoid them too.
Customer Services: why have you had so many one star reviews in such a short space of time? Senior Management: someone in Customer Services needs the sack.

Parcel left outside opened!

Delivery is what i am not happy about being my goods were left outside by evri who didn't even bother to knock on my front door so just left parcel outside but when I went outside to check i noticed my parcel was ripped open exposing my goods!
I've tried reporting this to cotswolds but no reply even so not answering my call to rant about this. I'm not happy at all especially with evri who haven't got a clue whatsoever!
