So helpful and understanding
At a time of change and worry I spoke with a lovely woman who understood our dilemma and showed great empathy. I was trying to navigate a system which is difficult and hard to manage especially if you are emotionally effected. Within a couple of hours I received a short list of homes that matched our criteria.
I would certainly recommend this service.

Norton Lees Nursing Home -Excellent? Though CQC Rating ‘Needs Improvement’?
Hello,
I don’t t have experience of this Care Home, Norton Lees on Warminster Road , Sheffield, but it has been suggested for my elderly mum, by SCC brokerage as has it has available beds.
I see in Trustpilot the home( Norton Lees) Sheffield is rated as excellent by carehome.co.uk, Yet the CQC Reports that it ‘Needs Improvement in all areas’.How can there be such a divide between opinions?

Our Review Scores are based on feedback from people who have experienced the care first-hand, whereas CQC ratings are based on regulatory inspections. Both offer valuable but different perspectives, which is why we always encourage families to consider them together when making a decision.
We're not sure where you've seen Norton Lees described as 'Excellent', but this isn't a rating we've given the home on carehome.co.uk. Trustpilot is also a separate review platform, independent of carehome.co.uk.

Fountains Care Home Rainham
After visiting my wife every day for exactly a year, I found myself needing to use the their servics as a temporary resident. I had a knee replacement on 3rd October, but couldn't return home on my own. Claire agreed that I could stay there while I recovered. I arrived Sunday 4th in the afternoon. I was on the ground floor & I was SO well looked after. My experience only underlined my previous findings on floor two, where my wife is.
The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The whole facility is sparkling clean. I found the food to be varied & served hot & was tasty.
The staff are well trained & obviously care for the residents. It is not an easy job , but they carry out their duties with compassion.
I was able to leave for my own home 8th October.

Fordingbridge Care Home
It was difficult to find the right secure, dementia care home for our brother (72) who has Korsakoff. Syndrome. From the outset the Fordingbridge team at all levels have been helpful, empathic, and professional. The team lead quickly appraised and understood our brother's needs, both his clinical diagnosis and how to manage his personal quirks and preferences and need for autonomy, limited though that now is. The care team on the floor are consistently kind and attentive, and treat him with warmth and good humour. There is a good atmosphere here and the home environment is spacious, well appointed and clean and the food seems very good. A year on, his second year in care, he is more settled, happy to have a large tree-surrounded garden with shady places to sit, either alone or with some of his friends. It's been a big relief to find the right place for him.

This is a misleading website as the…
This is a misleading website as the homes pay a fee to be on the site. People with negative experiences have to jump through hoops to share their concerns. You just have to compare the reviews on the site to Google reviews to see the difference.
Reviews from staff are not permitted - many care homes look wonderful, smell lovely and have all the mod cons while it is the staff on the floor keeping things going even though management may be driving them into the ground. I have personal experience with a care home that I reported to CQC for resident safety concerns while working there that has a 10/10 score on the website.

Every registered care home in the UK is listed on carehome.co.uk. Some care homes choose to pay for additional visibility on the website, but whether a care home is a subscriber or not has no influence on the reviews we publish. We publish both positive and negative reviews, and maintaining an authentic picture of people’s experiences of care is extremely important to us.
We do not accept reviews from current or former members of staff because they cannot offer the same impartial perspective as someone receiving care or their family or friends. A positive staff review may naturally favour their employer, while a negative review could relate to an employment dispute rather than the experience of care received by residents.
Our aim is to give families the clearest and most reliable view possible of the care and experiences shared by other residents and their families.

the girl i talked to was very compassionate and understanding, She took time to listen to my concerns and offered guidance when required.
She followed up with a great information pack along with a selection of care homes which she suggested may suit my mums need best.

My Mum is living in a care home
My Mum is living in a care home. She has settled in very well. The home is excellent. It is always very clean. It seems that her room is cleaned everyday. Her bedding is always fresh and clean. She has a pleasant room looking onto a garden area.
The dining room seems pleasant and clean. The menu that is served is on a board that is easy to see with some pictures as well as writing. The menu is varied and Mum says she enjoys the food.
Mum is very well looked after. She is clean and well kept. A hairdresser comes also a chiropodist.
Whenever I visit there are always plenty of staff even on a Sunday morning.
Whenever I have a problem it is dealt with immediately.
I was reluctant to place Mum in a home but I could not cope with her dementia at my home. When I took her to the home she was frightened and didn’t want me to leave her but she settled in within a few days.
I would recommend Belmont Grange in Ilfracombe to anyone who needs care for their elderly family.
