My brother, nephews and I scheduled a Japan trip with this business and were told that our trip was cancelled due to Covid, even though this was after the pandemic. They told us the only option was to get a credit towards another trip. We went ahead and booked another Japan trip, of course costing more money, and ended up being told just weeks before departure that our trip was cancelled because we hadn't paid all the expenses up front. Yet the only thing we hadn't paid was gratuity which their terms stated didn't need to be up front. Therefore, they took our $2500 and offered us no refund.
We tried repeatedly to talk through this with them on the phone, but they would not acknowledge the terms, and would not refund our money, and they were so rude and condescending in all their communication. This business is a Joke!!
So, unless you have thousands of dollars to lose, please do yourself a favor and avoid this business.

Scheduled a vacation to Peru for Jan.'24. We did not send them copies of our passports when they requested them (oversite on my part) The only follow-up UTO made was ten days prior to the payment deadline they sent an email stating the payment was due in 10 days, if payment was made disregard the email. I didn't finish the note as full payment had been made. The passport requirement was later in the email.

Three weeks prior to the trip I contacted UTO and they stated my trip was cancelled because they never received our passports. I requested a refund of money not tied up in non-refundable reservations. Their phone number from that point forward was answered by a machine suggesting I use their online help person. That person stated I had to speak to someone on phone. No one would answer the phone or return my calls. I did not receive any refund at all!

UTO is a Rip Off Organization they cancelled our trip right before COVID and then said the trip was not available after COVID cleared here in the US. They said they would contact us when it became available. Our contact with them has been sporadic because if you can speak to someone, they promise to follow up then they do not respond to emails or messages. Just try calling their customer support and hold until the line goes dead. Tired of trying, $4,000 gone

I’ve had two trips cancelled by UTO, one to China last year, which I had to threaten litigation to get a refund and now a trip to Thailand. They cancelled my Thailand trip because I didn’t enter my passport within the 180 day timeline, today is 179….. no email reminder. They did have my passport for the China trip which they could have used, it’s still posted on my profile. This trip was already paid in full. They offered no refund or credit, which I would never travel with them now anyway. I wasn’t even wanting a refund initially, I just wanted to go on the trip. I am out $837 for a trip that I paid in full for on 12-9-2022, the trip was scheduled for 06-14-2025. I strongly recommend that nobody gives this company any money, I’ve already contacted TICO in Canada as well. Be warned!

Like many others, we were swindled by UTO Vacations to the tune of $3600 USD because of a cancelled China trip. We were offered (by email, I have the proof) to have a refund, but it never happened and we were given a travel credit. Now, we are unable to use it and they refuse to answer calls. What a scam.

We booked a trip with UTO Vacation in 2019 for a trip to China in 2020. When the trip was cancelled UTO Vacation did not provide us a refund. They were the only company we dealt with that did not provide refund for a COVID cancellation. They never offered us a replacement trip with when the travel restrictions to China were over couple of years later. And the credit we had with them expired. So we ended up losing the money we paid. There was five of us who never got our money back. I bet there are far more cases like our case. I don’t think they should be allowed to operate as travel company in Canada.
Word of advice … Avoid booking with them.

A deposit was made for a trip to China in December 2019. The trip was to take place 2020-10-19. The trip was cancelled due to the Covid Outbreak and not rescheduled because of travel restrictions in China. I was granted a travel credit that was extended until 2024-05-19, however, the trip is not available. The web site continuously says "Temporarily sold out". Today I tried to call UTO. The calls were disconnected five times. I finally got an online chat and told that the credit can not be granted. It appears that I am not alone in my disappointment with UTO. Why does such a company have the approval of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) when so many negative experiences are reported?

This company is a SCAM. I booked a trip to Machu Picchu in 2023 for April 2025. When I tried to upload passport information I was told I missed the deadline of October 2O24. They will not cancel my trip, refund my money, or give me travel credit. You can't reach anyone by phone. Buyer Beware!!!

Hi All I have filed a tip to the FBI as well for this company to be investigated for being a Scam. I have filed tips to the news outlets waiting to hear back . I would urge you all to do the same. If we are not going to get a refund at least this company will be shut down and or put on blast for the false advertisement and keeping their customers money. Their is a class action lawsuit that is being worked on. I submitted my information to them as well. Hoping this company is held responsible for the wrong they are doing to their customers. It is so sad that this happening to so many of us. My mission is to blast this company on all media platforms and make them responsible for their actions.

Like everyone else on this site, I am dealing with a scam of a company! We placed $2,900 for 5 people, in deposit before covid hit! The average cost for a 10-day China trip was $1800 pp (flight/accommodation and transportation). Now the cost for the same trip is $11,499 per person! The credit of $2,900 is useless as now a trip for 5 that was $9000 is now $57,495!!! The only way to reach someone is via DM and they are following their script! PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!

Our family booked a trip to China and Japan after COVID. There were then travel redirections imposed in China. They sent us an email from an address that was just someone’s name giving us a few days to tell them if we wanted to proceed with a Japan only tour. I didn’t see the email right away because I had been traveling the week I received it. When I contacted them they said they had cancelled our reservation because we hadn’t responded in time and were not eligible for a refund. They said we hadn’t responded to pay the current price for a new tour which was an additional $1000 or so. We decided that we’d rather not lose the money altogether so changed plans and decided to go to Peru. Our trip was again cancelled and the money put in as a credit. At this point they have $10k of our money and since then have increased the cost of all of their tours to >$10k per person so there is no way anyone can use their credits. There needs to be a class action lawsuit. This is just insane that they just stole our money and jacked up the prices so that no one can use their credits

My partner and I booked trips to China and Japan back in 2019, totaling over $3,000. Didn't end up happening because of COVID, obviously, but instead of honoring the great deal they advertised to us, they converted it to travel credit, set to expire in 3 years. Once travel started opening back up again around 2023, we tried using that travel credit but the deals listed on their website were way more expensive, and I'd read horror stories on various sites and forums like reddit about people being charged additional hidden fees at the threat of having their entire trip canceled, so I was obviously wary of giving them any more of my money.

The expiration date eventually lapsed without us getting any chance to use those travel credits, so that was $3,000 lost to this scam company. Soured me on ever booking with a travel agency again. Avoid UTOvacation at all costs, and if you end up a situation like mine, try calling your credit card company to see what your options are.

I purchased a package, after they canceled the trip and numerous messages without response and still UTO Vacations are unable to fulfill my package. They will not issue a refund and now my travel credits expired. This was because they didn't offer my package ever again or any reasonablly priced trips! We booked the Splendid Japan 9 day tour since 2019 and because of Covid we could not go until Oct, 2024.
Instead of delivering what it said in the tour itinerary, Instead of putting customers in the hotels the level as advertise in the itinerary, the booking operator, Janey tried to make us pay extra on flight and hotels.
As said in the tour itinerary, we would fly to Osaka and be greeted with the tour guide and they would transfer us to the hotels. However, no transfer was organized when we arrived at Tokyo airport and no flight to Osaka. We had to buy flight from Tokyo to Osaka on our own dime and paid the taxi to the hotels. The hotels were 2-star hotels with no breakfast which was advertized in the itinerary (4-star hotels with breakfast included). We also had to pay tax on these hotels.The tour guide Anna was terrible; she did not LEAD the group efficiently which let some of us got lost. WE WERE VERY STRESSED ON THIS TRIP.
STAY AWAY FROM UTOVACATION OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

We booked two trips with UTO Vacations as a result of them canceling a trip to China and providing us with a travel credit for future use. Sound familiar?
The first was a trip to Central Europe. We paid for transfer service from the airport to the hotel in Poland. No one showed up and our tour guide had no clue what we were talking about. We arranged our own transportation to the hotel with the assurance we would be reimbursed for our cost. The following day we were told we had paid for several tours when, in fact, we had. We were told we would work it out later. On the final day of the tour, our tour guide said we would have to arrange our own transportation to the airport. You guessed it; we had already paid for transfers to the airport! We spent the next month arguing with the manager of UTO, Janey, before she finally said they would comp us for the unpaid tours. We had already paid the full price and UTO was attempting to milk us for more money.

Second, we booked a trip to Japan. We, again, paid for transfers from the airpot in Osaka to our hotel. No one representing UTO showed and we had to make our own way to the hotel. Our guide, Justin, slept in the van during tours, and while friendly, didn't know we could go the the observation deck at City Hall. It was clearly marked and we finally convinced him we could go.

Upon our return we asked via chat and email for a refund for the money we spent on transfers and did not receive. It took 3 chats and 3 emails to get a response. The final response was that they were sorry and they would allow a travel credit for our next trip. There will NEVER be a NEXT trip with UTO.

We booked a Thailand and China tour a couple of years back. UTO cancelled the tour but refused to issue refund eventhough THEY were to one to cancel the trip. Instead, they issued travel credits but we couldn't use it because other tours are EXPENSIVE. So, basically, they advertised a great deals, cancelled it later and kept your money.

I encourage you if you have been scammed by UTO to share your story's. UTO has been scamming people for years and it won't end unless they are all put in prison.

We used UTO for a trip to China before COVID in 2019. It was very cheap and it went great. Due to this experience we booked again with them on 2022 to go to Japan/China. As China was still closed, they provided a credit (2788 usd as we were 4 people and purchased extras). I have been watching the different "offers" since then, and they never have reopened a trip at a similar price (that included both flights + hotels) to be able to use the credit. All the different trips implied more than 3x the cost per person. Up until a few months ago, those new trips were at least "reasonable", but it seems that they hyper inflated all prices on purpose (trips now cost more than $10,000 usd per person, which is insane) so that all credits expire without customers being able to use them. This is extremely unethical and is a scamming mechanism to keep all the money without offering a service. I believe they went bankrupt after COVID and this is their way to recoup losses at the expense of customers.
