As a concerned parent I went into the store after Paul had installed a car seat. The car seat seemed to have a lot of movement so I went in with my concerns to check with the staff if the seat was safe. All I wanted was for the seat to be checked.
The manager KIERON was absolutely unprofessional. He was RUDE, disrespectful, had no qualities of a manager, and was not even willing to check the seat to give me reassurance.
Marcie then came to my assistance. She checked the seat and gave my assurance it was safe. She was brilliant and should be a manager.

Wouldn't give any stars ... paid £449 for new xbox x did it online to collect it, ordered it to the wrong area they won't help charge this have to wait 42hours for any refund and mess about.
I've rang up customer service they were no help a tall JOKERS!
No customer service so avoid this business
After I pushed submit of my on line order I realised I had sent the parcel to the previous address that I had used. I tried to contact them immediately (under 1 minute) . Their automated e mail says they'll come back in 72hrs, their bot said wait for the tracking e mail. Tracking e mail now recieved and surprise I can't change the address because the courier hub my parcel is at doesn't deliver to my address. I could have told them that- so the e mail advice is to refuse the parcel and let it be sent back, they will issue a refund & we start again. This is so wrong on every level its not green, it puts unnecessary strain on all the resources involved in a chain and its not customer service.
Their answer is that they deal with your orders so quickly they can't amend- nonsense! Amazon can & do and they deliver the next day. You can also cancel on line with Amazon which you can't with Smyths. Be honest once you've been paid you don't care because you have the money.
Lazy staff
The staff on the entertainment desk wouldn't get a gaming chair down from the display to let me check it for size of my son sitting in it before I bought it. Absolutely ridiculous (and lazy!)
New management Tralee store
After years of poor or non existent management in the Tralee store it is now under new and excellent management. Previously in the store it could be difficult to find someone to help you if you did they would roll their eyes as they went to the stock room (with the exception of the girl who does the car seats). Had a great experience yesterday with the new manager going above and beyond to help me with an issue that he technically didn’t have to. I could also see more staff in the store and all busy working, you could tell he is running the place well. I just hope smyths are able to keep him.

I went into the Salford store to collect my items, waited a few minutes while staff were gossiping at the till, I went over to ask if anyone was serving the click and collect counter to find the person who was talking at the till was and she walked over to me and served the person who just came and was on the other side of the barrier and not in the cue instead of me that had been waiting, I asked why and she said she didn’t see me. She did as I saw her looking over repeatedly, shocking service with no apology for the wait. Talking to other members of staff are more important than serving customers in this store. Also why do you get a large bin bag without a handle to take the item home in? It looks terrible.

I can see there is item in stock so I placed the order. And when I arrived in the store the item is out of stock. The staff and the manager said yes because someone else taked it and thats why is out of stock. I did it so I have the item in store. But they say someone bring it to the till and pay it before I placed the order. How is posaible? I checked the store stock after a few seconds when I placed the order and its shows out of stock...
So please do not buy items when its shows 1 in stock or even 2...
Very disappointed about them and about their stocking system.
If someone bought the same item the cashier can see on the screen is reserved or its out of stock...

Horrible experience with this store . Purchased two car seats and was demonstrated how to use then both in store . No offer to demonstrate in car or fit it in car . When we fitted it into car realised one of them wasn’t fitting well . We decided we wanted to return it as we were not happy as it shook from side to side. Went in today . 2 days after buying it and told they Do not accept returns for car seats , even though we were told to keep the receipt and paperwork to prove we had seen a demo so we could return it if needed . To cut a long story short , the manager made out It was my fault as we fitted the car seat at home ( even though they did not offer ) and then To make matters worse , we was told when buying the seat , our 1 year could stay in it rear facing until she was four , to be told today she would need to be forward facing in a few months … the whole reason we bought it was because she could stay rear facing until she was four not a few more months 😡thankfully Victoria came and saved the day and was amazing and solved the problem. , however the manager did not help . His condescending and patronising nature towards me was disgusting . I have looked all over the small print of the website and cannot find anywhere that they do not accept car seat returns . They need to broadcast this and make sure staff in the car seat and baby section are fully trained , offer all the demos and know there stuff . Would recommend seeing Victoria for baby stuff but not smyths Peterborough

Myself and my friend went looking for an Xbox series X and received the best customer care we have encountered in a very long time James was helpful pleasant funny and friendly after a very bad start to our day we left the store in great form with the perfect present for my son's birthday and that was thanks to James would definitely travel from Blanchardstown to Jervis St again and I think Smyths should have James give customer care classes to the rest of their staff
Don't order online.
I made an online order for a child's car seat, had I been able to see it I wouldn't have bought it, my nearest store is too far away.
When I received it I saw the poor quality but because I had looked at it Smyth's told me I had to take it to store.
The answer is never buy anything online from them.
Not reliable and bad communication
Unfortunately they make a promise of next day delivery. They have an inexpensive extra fee for this service, the delivery didn't happen for us and there was no contact from the company or the delivery company about what was happening. Attempts to track the parcel simply meant that we had no idea when it would arrive. Ordered it Sunday and it arrived on Wednesday. Good service if we hadn't paid for delivery on the Monday. Disappointed child etc!

AVOID - Sells Defective Products
If at all possible avoid - they know about defective products and still sell them. Shop around online and you can easily buy from other companies. Very poor customer service.
Excellent customer service
I have had the most excellent customer service from Smyths Toys. I made a mistake, thinking they had sent the incorrect item to me so they sent a replacement very quickly. I apologised for the error and was told that as I did not have a store near to me to just keep both items. How courteous and efficient all the staff have been. Thank you.

Opened their website for the first time in my life and was met with:
