BUYER BEWARE!! SCAM: THEY RESELL YOU PLANTS AT OVER DOUBLE THE COST!!! I ordered a plant for $35. I waited an extremely long time for the item to be shipped, only to receive a completely different plant, which came with HOME DEPOT tags still on it, as well as a Home Depot price tag of $12.98. They are now refusing to refund me and ignoring my emails!! Stay away from this scamming company! Update to this review: they issued me a FULL refund.
I received my order with missing items. I reached out to customer support twice. First to inform them of the missing items. I was told that the fulfillment team will ship the items out to me.About a week later, I followed up on the shipment and was told I would be personally notified.Although the response to my inquires were timely, it has been over a month since my order was delivered incomplete. I feel that I have given this company enough time to fulfill my order.I sent my last email asking for a refund and have not received a response. I am disappointed with my experience

I didn't have the best first experience with this company. Their customer service definitely needs improvement( not sure if they don't have enough staff because they are a new company, but they definitely need to work on email response time and providing a valid phone number for customers to contact them, otherwise people like me, get suspicious...)
I have to start by saying that I was wrong to say that Soil & Clay is not a legitimate company. I did eventually receive my order this morning. Every plant was packaged carefully and arrived safely. Even the heat pack was still warm. I ordered 3 plants and 1 came free. I haven't yet inspected the soil and all the foliage carefully, but I already discarded one of the plants - it was infested with spider mites. I know people take time to treat the plants but I just have too many to risk it. And when you buy a plant you generally hope to get a healthy one, at least I do. The other three plants look alright, but definitely not worth the price.
I have been buying my plants from a small company in Florida, they have the healthiest plants and great customers service, maybe I am spoiled. Just wanted to give your company a chance too. Thank you and best of luck with your business.
Ordered a plant from them during a sale. Got a confirmation that it would be held due to winter storm. Ok, fine no rush. They shipped, but took a week to get here. Ok, Fedex dropped the ball there, I get it. Its warm where I am, so I expected a plant that was at best a little wilted from lack of sun/water. No... Plant was showing obvious signs of neglect—It was wrapped correctly, but completely dry, soil and dead leaves all over the box and the base of the plant. The leaves it still has are very crunchy or spotted, some wayward branches hanging off. It is also root bound (slid right out of the pot, even after I watered it), and just not having a good time. I know it wasn't Fedex’s responsibility to care for it or prune it. Good news is that it’s alive and looks like its trying to stay that way (there are some new shoots at the base), but we’ll see how/if it recovers after I give it some rest and a new pot. Thanks, but probably won’t order from them again.
Plants arrived in amazing condition, packed perfectly and with great care! Loved the selection of pots to choose from as well. Will be ordering again!! Great selection for beginner plant parents and lots of pet friendly plants to choose from.

Don't waste your time. I can't speak to the quality of their plants/products because I never received them. I placed my first order using the buy 3 get 1 promo. I purchased 4 plants and two pots. A week after placing my order, an email was sent to my junk mail stating the pots were broken and they would exchange them for different pots (most of all the other pots on their website were sold out). I told them to just refund the pots and ship my plants. No response. I sent another email asking for an update. They replied they would ship the rest of the order. 4 days later, still no tracking number provided. I sent another email asking for a tracking number and if they STILL have not shipped my purchase (almost a month later) to provide me a full refund. As a new customer, I should not have to be continually asking the company for updates on where/what/when is going on with my purchase. Definitely not placing another order with this company. Save your time (and money) and go elsewhere.

Ordered based on the buy 3 get 1 free promo. Plants quickly arrived within a week! However, the money tree I ordered was completely dislodged from the pot. I placed it back in the pot with the soil it came with so I am hoping it will be okay. Also, the ZZ plant was received with brown and yellow leaves and the bulbs were completely exposed. After examining, the ZZ plant’s bulbs had root rot and fungus gnats. I sent an email and am currently waiting for a response.

Do not buy from this company. They truly don’t treat their plants well. Plants come with root rot and infested with spider mites, gnats, and other bugs. I’m truly disgusted by their business practice. We got a replacement that was equally disappointing and no one replied to our emails. Save your money and don’t make the same mistake we did.

I placed my money tree plant order on January 2nd and availed of their ‘Buy 2 pots get 1 free promo’ it’s getting close to 2 months and I have not received any shipping update. All items are FULLY paid thru Afterpay. What’s worse is they don’t even update you. If not for me writing to them constantly, they would not communicate. All I get is this lame excuse of winter weather condition. I received my snake plant from another company and it took only 5 days for delivery. Given their weather pattern is different from other plant business online, Soul and Clay should have at least straightened this out on their website description regarding shipment delays.FYI, I only started getting “Dear Winter” email last friday 2/13. Yes, they offered either a store gift card or items to throw in together with my order on 2/3. It’s Feb. 16 and still nothing. Something’s totally wrong! Imagine those who bought items as gifts?! I just leave everything to HIM. God bless whoever are the people behind this company. I hope they have in their hearts to stop this scam and straighten things out with their customers to the soonest possible time. - frustrated Me

Update 3/2/2021 - Finally received my order. Sadly, leaves dried up. Some leaves fell off. Had to cut severely bent stems. Not sure how to rehab this plant! Also, I did not receive perks as offered by them. No welcome letter and/or card as how to care for your plant included in the box. Nothing! Very much disappointed. Never again!!

My order shipped incomplete. Not only did they refund me, but they made sure to expedite the missing items. Would definitely recommend on account of their wonderful customer service. The plants are beautiful too.

I placed an order about 8 weeks ago and still have not received my order. I have written them 3 times and they’ve said they are shipping soon with heat packs because it’s winter. But I still have not received the order. Also, I asked for a refund and they said they don’t do refunds. At this point my money is just being held hostage. You can’t launch a business and then just take someone’s money without giving them their product. This order was a Christmas gift to my husband and I wish I had just bought from another place.

I bought four plants for myself and one plant for my brother and his wife. All were delivered, but three from my order were dead and the one I sent them was dead. They gave me store credit for my order, and I bought three pots. Only one pot was delivered. I was told the other pots would be sent but the email stating so was very unprofessional and I didn't receive a confirmation. I'm also not getting any responses in the last couple of weeks.

Ordered four plants in December. All four plants were damaged when they arrived - looked like from extreme cold temperatures. I reached out to the company and provided photos, at which point they said they would replace the plants. A month has passed and I still haven’t received my replacement plants. I have followed up twice via email and have received no response.

Update 1/25/20: I received a message from a Customer Service rep stating that the plant in question is out of stock which is why it was not able to be shipped. I was also given the option of a refund, store credit + $10 gift card, or an exchange. I opted for the refund. One of the owners also reached out to express their apologies.
Placed an order for a Christmas gift in early December and still have not received the item nor any shipping updates. I've emailed the company 3 times about the status of the order and each time the response is "It's being prepared". I only ordered 1 plant. They will not refund me either. Definitely stay away from this company.
