HDD Lifesavers
Kevin and Emma did amazing on recovering my HDDs data. I was only expecting to get a small amount of stuff back, but they got all my 77gb of my data! I'm so grateful to PITS for their effort in getting my stuff back to me. I'm definitely gonna recommend them to my friends in the future!
Good overall assessment and retrieval of data
I was concerned that my drive would not be accessible due to its age and size of files but PITS were able to pull almost all my data. Mailing defective product was easy with their prepaid mailing label. Pricing was fair due to the sensitive content I had stored.
I contacted pits data recovery…
I contacted pits data recovery requesting they can get all photos and some data that I had accidentally deleted from my recycle bin, after paying over £490.00 al I have received is memory stick with only some photos of and a few parts of data that was just on my harddrive. So if you just want a part copy of what is just on your harddrive on a memory stick for over £490.00 go to this firm. Before I contacted this firm I already contracted another firm and they retrieved more data but not all I Required for less than £60.00. Incidentally Pits data recovery are refusing to give me a refund dispute what is on their contract if they can't get the information required they would give a refund.
Expect your drive will never come back
I sent in my drive for an evaluation being told it may be $250. A couple weeks pass and they never called me back, so I had to step up and call. Once my drive was in their possession, the new quote was $2400 and tried to sell me on a discount of $1500 for a testimonial when no work was even done yet. After telling the rep that I could not afford it due to an emergency he wouldn't have it. As much as I wanted the drive back to send to another, he kept guiding me away from this decision. In order to get anything back, I had to sign. It led me through a slow, antiquated process to receive my data, some of which I did not want to be recovered. Customer service was awful and never properly guided me through the remainder of the recovery. Their previous response to this review is that they will hide behind their contract, which I only signed after I spoken to Mister "Rise and Grind" (I'm sorry I could not find his name on any of our correspondences but remembered this as a comment he said when speaking on the phone). I should have never sent my drive if I properly knew what I was getting into and I suggest you do too!
There's is still hope on recovering data
All the research I did to try and recover the data stored on my external hard drive led me to believe is was a loss after the drive no longer worked. I placed it in a drawer for the last 5 years or so. But I decided to give it another try recently, and I discovered PITS Data Recovery Service.
I was very nervous shipping my hard drive, but I followed their instructions and was notified when they received it.
Within a couple of days they advised they were confident they would be able to retrieve the data from the drive. I gave them the approval to go forward and it was the best decision I could have made.
They were SUCCESSFUL! I was extremely happy with the outcome! The entire process was smooth and easy and everyone involved was very professional and courteous!
I highly recommend PITS Data Recovery if you find yourself in the same type of situation.
Thank you so much Pits!!!
Beware
I sent my SD card into this company because I had vital footage on it that I wanted to retrieve. They advertise 99% success rate but I must have been the one percent because they found nothing. They had charged me for finding my footage and they then even had the cheek to charge me extra something like £14 to return my Unreadable SD card. After not finding any footage you would have thought that any reasonable company would have just put the SD card in the second class post and sent it back with their apologies. Nothing of the sort. I will never use this company again. All they are after is my money. Shocking.
4TB hard drive recovery
It wasn’t my first time being referred to PITS Global and once again, I was very impressed with their level of customer service. After submitting my faulty 4TB hard drive, I was kept well informed throughout every stage of the process. Thr service a
isn’t cheap, but there were no hidden costs, and everything was handled with good professionalism. They could recover the irreplaceable data. Fred was particularly helpful and approachable, making the experience feel personal rather than dealing with one of those faceless and cold "corporations". Couldn't thank PITS enough.
I had an unbelievable experience with…
I had an unbelievable experience with PITS. I thought my data was gone forever and they retrieved 100% of it. They were very responsive and always communicated with anything I needed and questioned throughout the process. Would recommend to anyone in need of getting data back!
Successful Recovery - Worth it!
Losing an external hard drive and trusting someone to help recover data can be a scary and stressful process. PITS Data Recovery had excellent communication, reassurance, instructions, and customer service from the moment I called them and throughout the process. They were very passionate about making sure I completed the process and recovered everything on my drive. This can be expensive, so they worked with me on options and in the end it was worth it. 25 years' worth of precious photos/memories saved, and important documents recovered. They rated highly on my BBB research and lived up to the reviews. I will recommend them to a close friend who has experienced similar hardware failure and loss.
PITS Data Recovery Was Excellent
PITS restored the data on my corrupted hard drive after a highly skilled tech expert said he couldn’t help. The company was very professional, following up several times as needed. PITS did what they promised and I couldn’t be happier.
Very hard to work with
I tried to verify files on a call and the call was so choppy with their software it was untenable. I then request the cancellation 60% waiver as in their terms and they refused to multiple times, for months, until they then invoice me today. They tried to intimidate me with legal statements relating to their contract and terms, which ChatGPT completely stated was rubbish. This was not appreciated - go to another company.
Outrageous pricing and sneaky business practice
Data Recovery Service Options:
Option 1. Economy Data Recovery
- Avg. Turnaround Time: 4 weeks
- Price: $3,145
Option 2. Standard Data Recovery
- Avg. Turnaround Time: 2 weeks
- Price: $4,088.50
-----------------------------------------
This is the email I received after waiting weeks for them to complete a diagnosis. They charged for this diagnosis of course. There was not a single mention of pricing when I called in. They happily took my device and said they were certain they could fix it. A site online said expect around $300 and we ended up at 10X that!
If you like overspending, you're in the right place!
My experience with this data recovery…
My experience with this data recovery company:
I was billed for shipping to the location in New York and an examination. (main lab is in the first floor of an apartment building). My first quote was almost $2500, but they came down to $1200.00 when I said I had a preious quote elsewhere (red flag). Wanted 33% of that as a fee to "try" to get data that is non-refundable if/when they fail. Assured they have 99% recovery history on the phone, but I can't find any proof of that claim. I had them return the drive (another fee again) and then sent the drive to SalvageData that paid for the shipping to them in Ohio. After receiving it (24 hours later)stated that the drive was unrecoverable due to the ECC and XOR not available for my chipset. NO CHARGE! I paid return shipping ($6) and the drive was returned to me two days later. Had I attempted recovery with Pits, it would have been impossible to complete and I would have lost a great deal of money (which I believe they should have been aware of) Further research of their UK tax filing ( I could not find a US corporation or even listed as a business within CA or NY State where they are located, resulted in a startling computer and fixtures/asset in 2024 of less than 10K pounds! That kind of equipment cost/depreciation does not sound like a top of the line clean room or lab to me! That is public (and you can google it if you like). Since I can't find a picture or a video of their lab anywhere (including the website and youtube channel)-I am unsure if it even actually exists and IS state of the art as they claim to be honest. I had red flags go up all over the place and I listened to my gut and went elsewhere and I am glad that I did! After reading the BBB reviews and complaints as well as here... I am confident that my refusal to pay them any more money than I had already and try elsewhere was a correct decision. They were very nice on the phone... but frankly, I did not trust them at all, and everything felt like a scam when dealing with them to me.
I wish I woud have read more reviews…
I wish I woud have read more reviews prior to hiring this company, but my emotions got the best of me. I accidentally deleted my whole laptop. When I called and inquired about the recovery process, I did tell them what I had already tried to do on my own and they believed the engineers could still retreive my data, even though I mentioned that the data recovery I tried corrupted my data, and of course, "not to worry".
Once I sent my device in and paid the initial fee along with the required 33% of the total fee ($1,600) quoted it took at least 30 days to get any update only after I reached out for a status update.
I was then told that unfortunately, my data was unrecoverable for the exact reason I mentioned in our first phone call. I now do not believe the engineers thought they could do it either, but that's not what the "sales" team tells you.
When I received my device back, it would not power on nor charge. I did not even receive my device in the original box I sent it in which was the original box the device came in. I sent an email to my account manager, and left them a message the same day but did not hear back, so I called and spoke with someone else who suggested I send an email so they could forward it to the engineers. It was only then that I heard back from them indicating that I needed to send my device back for assessment. There is no way I can send my device back to a company that frankly baits-and-switches with a "no retreival, no pay" claim. I paid almost $600 and I was left with no data and now a non-working device.
I had to send my laptop in to HP an the motherboard needed to be replaced. I expressed my frustrations with the company and requested a refund and they have not responded once to even acknowledge my request. Accidents happen but be careful when choosing a company to assist as you may lose more than you orginally did.
Extortionate prices - save your money!
Initially went with PITS as they seemed friendly on the phone and went into detail telling me how they could retrieve my files. For reference I had an SD Card with a few files not showing up (around 10 images and x2 .MP4 clips less than 20 seconds each).
Paid the initial fee of £49 and then received another email asking for an additional payment which was extortionate considering what needed to be recovered. Also without me even seeing the results and whether they were recovering the correct files. Absolute waste of time and of course had to pay the additional £18 shipping fee back despite not proceeding with their service.
Here’s what I was quoted for the small files I asked to recover.
Option 1. Economy Data Recovery
- Avg. Turnaround Time: 4 weeks
- Price: £490
Option 2. Standard Data Recovery
- Avg. Turnaround Time: 2 weeks
- Price: £637.00
Never pay for anything before data has…
Never pay for anything before data has been retrieved!
I paid a significant amount for data recovery services, only to be told that recovery was not possible. Additionally, they do not provide a report unless you pay extra. After growing increasingly suspicious of their claims, I arranged for my husband to collect the drive from their London office. To my concern, they handed it over without verifying his identity or requesting any form of confirmation. They have since refunded what I initially paid after I complained about this.
I then contacted another data recovery company, which only charges once data retrieval is confirmed, and they successfully recovered 99.8% of the data. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against trusting this company, as they appear to engage in misleading practices.

Be careful before paying for diagnosis
I price compared with various sites and went with Pits because it was local. I paid the diagnosis price and delivered the hard drive to Wimbledon. I received an email that the hard drive had a "mechanical failure". The price to get data would be £1245.00 and take up to 4 weeks, or pay 400.00 more for up to 2 weeks. I asked to confirm what data they can retrieve and was told " they would need to go through the physical stage of the recovery," which is what I believe the paid diagnosis was for. Unhappy with the price, I collected the hard drive and went with the second company on my list. They collected the hard drive the same day, did a diagnosis free of charge, and sent an email with all 99.9% of retrievable files within 3 days of receiving the hard drive. The price was 550.00. On payment, I received the downloadable file after 5 days. I wasted my time and money with Pits. As Pits did not recover my data, I cannot comment on their ability, but from delivery to the shared building, it did not seem to be what they market their business to be or do. (less said)
STEER CLEAR - absolutely atrocious company preying on the desperate and the ill informed
This is the second time I write a review of PITS. They succeeded in getting the review taken down - because I pointed out a competitor behaved infinitely more transparently than they did, and charged literally a tenth of the price. I shall write the review again, and this time the competitor shall remain unnamed - so PITS (who really are the pits) cannot claim to TrustPilot that my review contains 'advertising' (it didn't, and doesn't).
I cannot emphasis this strongly enough. PITS are an awful, awful company. Do not go near them. Do not give them any of your money. Do not believe the reviews on here written by accounts with only one review of any service, ever (of which more later). Don't let them make you the next victim of their scam.
I had a very simple case. I had an external hard drive with important photos of time past on. I left it in the cupboard for a few years, and when I sought to retrieve the photos later the drive was making a clicking noise and wouldn't load. For the techy amongst you, this simply meant the heads had failed. It is a very straightforward fix for a data retrieval company to do.
I delivered my device to PITS by hand (their London office is in Wimbledon). They rent a small room in a complex with dozens of other businesses offering low rent services to exotic communities - Chinese medicine with dodgy ingredients, acupuncture, lawyers specialising in criminal matters involving far-off jurisdictions and the like.
Their office is a few yards square. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a clean room. They opened the door to me, and tried to shut it behind them to prevent me from seeing - but it was messy, and they were not in protective suits. Perhaps there is a clean room at another location - but certainly not at the small room they rented next to the tiger medicine and rhino horn sellers.
They said they would charge me £49 for an initial assessment. So far, so good - this is entirely fair, and in line with industry norms. They said (verbally) that a simple fix would be 'low hundreds', a complex fix would be 'high hundreds'. That second price was above market trends already - but I wasn't expecting the case to be complicated. I agreed to go ahead and paid the £49.
After a few days they wrote to me saying that further expertise was needed. For this I would need to be charged thousands. For an 'economy' option, with a turnaround time of 4 weeks, the price would be £1750 (presumably plus VAT, although this was not specified). For 'standard' service in 2 weeks, the price would be £2250 (again, presumably plus VAT). Faster service was negotiable, with the price rising correspondingly.
I was appalled. These figures were an order of magnitude higher than what I was quoted in person. I refused to go ahead, and having been shown that PITS was not honest (the prices given were a direct contradiction of what I was told in agreeing to pay the £49), I did not trust them to send my drive securely in the post, so I again drove to pick it up in person.
I arrived at the office again and found the mess of an office. The staff came out, and I asked where the guy I had spoken to was. Apparently he had left the company at short notice - always a good sign.
I asked for my drive back. Once I had it in my hand, i asked what was wrong with it. The guy gave a very woolly response, but stated clearly that he had opened the drive and had seen a given problem. I probed a little and pushed him to explain what he had seen. He couldn't and didn't, and then admitted that he had not open the drive - so therefore he had lied - because in the event this wasn't necessary.
I fail to see how he could diagnose the problem (which I already knew to be failed heads) without opening the drive. I then noted the contradiction in what he had said. Ultimately, this boiled down to his having lied.
I took my drive with me and found a competitor. I won't name the competitor - again, this is how PITS succeeded in getting my previous review taken down - but if you search data recovery on Reddit you will find them soon enough. Suffice it to say they were well recommended, and deservedly so. They recovered all my photos for a few hundred, and were entirely transparent throughout.
When I got home I did a little more research into PITS. Reddit and review sites are full of stories like mine. Initial contact with PITS, promises made, then requests for thousands of pounds or dollars for nebulous services. Some reviewers were desperate and reported paying. Others - like me - eventually found competitors who we apparently aren't allowed to name. But through every story, the same strand - a baiting from PITS, promises, then requests for exorbitant sums, preying on the unknowing.
Looking at the reviews here, they do not reflect what is said elsewhere. Many reviewers review no other company. Almost as if they were fake. Buyer beware.
I had a DROBO 5N with a failed RAID…
I had a DROBO 5N with a failed RAID array due to a physically damaged hard drive. The system became completely inaccessible, and I was extremely concerned about losing 10TB of important data.
After researching data recovery services, I reached out to PITS Global Data Recovery Services in NY. From the first call, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and clear about the recovery process. They provided regular updates, which made the situation much less stressful.
The service was efficient, and the pricing was fair and transparent. Most importantly, I received my recovered data without any issues. Based on my experience, I would recommend their services to anyone facing a similar situation.
extremely happy
extremely happy
My hard drive expereinced huge damage in Hurricane Helene and was hard to recover. Although I have a Geek Squard membership, they couldn't do, but PITS came through like a champ.
They were able find important files that I thought I had lost forever. It's not inexpensive, but to me, worth every penny I spent
