Turned up after 55mins, immediately looked at the lock and quoted £189 + VAT + cost of new lock + installation.
I chose instead to pay the £40 cancellation fee (never stated up front) in order to deal with a more ethical company.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Update to my review. I contacted my London Locksmiths about my excessive bill for my new lock and got this - no apology but a refund of £408. You must make your own decisions.

Fake Website, Scammers Thieving Con Artists Galore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Report to the police-the more reports it will become more evidence, national crime agency, action fraud, your local MPS and councillors, google business complaint redress does not work because website is FAKE!!! A thief has 40 days and this scammers need to be locked up for STEALING and CONNING people.

I have NEVER encountered anything as frustrating as a business that exploits people's misfortune. These guys are doing it and by fraud. Starts off with you calling to be quoted a price which clearly tripled. They are not even qualified locksmiths but I did not have the luxury of research when I came across them!

After accidentally locking myself out of my flat, I found myself in a difficult situation. It was a simple Yale lock, something any skilled locksmith should have been able to open. To make matters worse, I’d also locked my phone inside, so I had to borrow one to find the first available locksmith online. It was winter, it was cold, and I was in a hurry.

When I called, I was quoted £50–£75 depending on the type of lock. Fair enough. They asked for a callback number, which I didn’t have since I wasn’t using my own phone.

The locksmith arrived quickly—within 15 minutes—which I appreciated. However, things took a turn for the worse. He attempted to open the Yale lock with a plastic tool, gave up almost immediately, and announced that he’d need to drill it. Suddenly, the price jumped to £175, completely contradicting the quote I’d been given.

Then came the upsell. If I wanted to replace the lock, he claimed the cheapest option would be £95 for a basic lock with three keys—something he referred to as "B&Q prices." I later discovered the same lock from Yale directly costs £55. Clearly, there was a significant markup. He even tried to frame this as a "deal" by saying he wasn’t charging me for labor, as if that justified the inflated prices.

Under the circumstances, I had no choice but to let him drill the lock. I declined the replacement as I had other locks on the door, but even so, I was charged £225.60 for a process that took less than 70 seconds. There was no mention of a call-out fee during the initial phone conversation, which felt deliberately misleading.

This experience left me feeling completely taken advantage of. Businesses like this rely on people’s desperation, positioning themselves at the top of Google to catch customers who don’t have the time or tools to research alternatives. If I had my phone and time to explore other options, I would have certainly chosen differently.

Charging over £200 to drill a hole and then attempting to sell me a lock at nearly double its retail price is nothing short of predatory. To add insult to injury, the locksmith had the audacity to claim he was doing me a favor by not charging my an additional £45 for labour! The kicker is what he showed me on his phone does not appear on the website which was finally able to review when had a phone. You are preying on people and stealing in broad daylight by providing misleading quotes. Your phone operator is ho pretended I did not tell him the type of lock. How are you a locksmith and don’t know lock types oh I know because you are scheming con artist! It’s only a matter of time!

Avoid this company!

This company run by Romanians who scam pensioners. I want them to know they won't get away with it. Action Fraud contacted and Trading Standards . They should go back to Romania as this is unacceptable to rob us of our money. Half my pension was taken . Got a small refund but I should have got it all back

My friend was staying in my place when I was on holiday. He lock himself out and had to call a locksmiths. Sadly, he found one through google rather than through other methods checktrade. He called them and even though in the website they say that they will let you know their prices, they didn’t. A locksmiths attended and quoted him £555 to change the lock. The locksmiths made not attempt to verified who was the owner of the property and drill the lock, without contacting me. Hence, even though they are obliged to make all possible efforts to verify who the owner of the property is, they didn’t. He was charged £189 to for opening the door by drill, they charged £225 for a new lock which new would cost between £20 to £30. Another £49 pounds for labour and VAT on top. After several complains I manged to get £350 back and this is what I did:
- I got two quoted from reputable locksmiths for the same work which quoted maximum of £169
- I reported them to the Master Locksmiths Association who they share these reports with the police
- I wrote a letter to my MP
- I reported them to the Citizens Advise Bureau
- I reported them to trading standards of my Local Authority and the Local Authority where the company was based
- I reported them to google as it is one of the companies that comes up first if you google locksmiths in London,
- I wrote several letters to them highlighting the following:
o Not providing any information of the prices during the initial call and despite saying in the website that that is they do this routinely
o Lack of professionalism by not making any attempts to confirm ownership of the house
o Overpricing their services after comparing them with the quotes received
o Charging £225 for a lock that if of the same security level would have cost £20 or £30 only
o Although they told my friend that they matched the security level of the old lock, no evidence of this was left in the house
Note that the company uses different names and different web page addresses, I will list the ones I know of:

- I contacted them in two different email addresses but I only got a response when I added the second one, no one ever responded to the first one which was the one in the paper bill they left which started with "office", I used the ones in the website that had "onlineservices247"
- I called the numbers in the paper bill and online but no one was ever helpful.
If you were unlucky enough to use them and you think that you have been ripped off, do the things I mentioned above and email them to the "onlineservices247"

Wish I had read the review before booking these cowboy con artists. Guy didn’t even try to open the lock. Made a small effort to bypass the lock and then drilled. Cost me a nice 200£. Avoid like the plague. Hope they go bankrupt for being the criminals they are. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Addendum to my review on here:
I have complained to the Master Locksmiths Association about mylondonlocksmiths. I would encourage everyone on here to do the same. I cannot put the link on here, but if you go to their site, you will see a page where you can submit a complaint. Needless to say, mylondonlocksmiths are not MLA accredited! But MLA have a list of those who are. I have bookmarked their page in case I need a good honest locksmith in future.

Pros: it was easy to book the service on Friday evening over the phone. The tradesman was on time, friendly, and the new lock seems ok. Hence 2 stars. But it almost got a one-star review.
Cons: I am sure I was ripped off for the £400 fee! I was told over the phone the fee would be about £145 + VAT. However, I ended up paying: £60 callout, £145 for a replacement lock, and he didn't even replace the entire lock mechanism for that price.
I'm sure you wouldn't pay £145 for a Yale lock in the shops!
Then it was £129 for the labour which took only half hour, plus the £60 callout which was not included in the labour cost. I thought that the norm with all kinds of work is to include the callout cost with the labour fee if any work needs to be done. But I didn't think of this until after the locksmith had gone.
Then on top of everything, I paid £67 VAT.
Although I'm glad someone could come out at short notice on a Saturday, I still can't shake off a feeling that I've been ripped off!

Complete ‘rip off’ £900 for a callout labour and new lock. I had to pay because the guy destroyed the old lock. Never use this company. Useless and expensive!!

Really fast and efficient service - Dan was super polite and sorted the issue immediately. He was able to provide a new lock there and then with no fuss. Will definitely keep his details to hand

I phoned the company and ask them to inspect and repair the lock on a garage gate. The locksmith attended on 12 March 2024, inspected and removed the old lock. He quote a services charge of £250 including VAT. I told the locksmith that the quote was outside my budget for the job and ask for the old lock to be refitted. The locksmith advised that the old lock was damaged beyond repair and couldn’t be re-fitted. I asked the locksmith what would be the minimum price to fit a replacement lock and he quoted £200 including VAT and I agreed with him to proceed. I phoned the company mid July to complain that the door pull on the lock was loose; the bolt and strike plate were poorly aligned making it increasingly difficult to open/close the garage gate securely. The receptionist dropped the call without allowing me to finish my verbal complaint. I made a formal complaint by email and have received unsatisfactory feedback. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to make a claim on my credit card company for a full or partial refund. Please avoid, at all costs, calling out or using this locksmith because of their substandard customer handling service, their use of inferior quality materials and their excessive charge for labour.

Absolute scammers. This Eastern European guy turned up, drilled my lock (unnecessarily I am informed as the lock itself wasn't damaged) said it would be £189........thrn wanted to charged nearly £1000 by the time he had fitted a new lock. Two other locksmiths have said it should have cost £300 max but the lock didn't need drilling. Never use these scammers.

The operative who attended requested me to put a review and so here I am. I can only describe it as day light robbery. Despite, the operative was very nice. The pricing was not explained accurately. On top of what they call destructive entry which is drilling the lock costing £129 and a new lock, a barrel, costing £149 which you can but for £10, he also charged labour cost. The company I called said it will be £45 but the operative arrived from a different company?

£50 call out, £169 drilling and £375 for a £20 lock. AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. They really abuse their powers, because I was desperate and needed to get into the house quickly, got charged £712 total for a job that took 20minutes, really abusive company.

DO NOT HIRE these crooks. They are crooks. They charged my tenants £100 for a £13 lock, them couldn’t give me the managers name to complain. Crooks

This is such a scammer service !! I got locked out off the house for and for a simple lock and they charges me for almost 400£ for it. If i had known that it would cost me that much i would have stayed at my friend's a bit til my flatmate comes a day after!! Avoid it !!

Needed a repair to the lock on my entrance door, because the handle connected to it would not open the door. Ended up with a replacement lock, which in retrospect probably wasn't needed and being charged over £500 for the whole experience. Pure extortion

Awful experience ..My son broke his key in the front door lock. As all the other reviews have said I was quoted £50 or more if it was an expensive lock and was told he would be there in 25 mins. So I was sold. I ran round the corner thinking I had time. They arrived 15 mins later and kept calling me saying he couldn't wait. We I arrived within the 25 mins. He said he couldn't open the door without damaging the lock. Told me it would be £150 and £100 or £80 for replacing lock depending on the security I wanted. He started drilling it took him all of 5 mins. Then said it was £350. I was TOTALLY SHOCKED when I asked why so much he said it was for his labour and if I had taken the more expensive lock, labour would have been included. I was so mad, asked why he had not mentioned that before. I felt intimate as he new where I lived and like a fool for being crooked. From £50 to £350..

One star is too generous. Avoid this company at all costs. In addition to a £50 call out charge and £99 labour they charged £275 to replace a barrel lock worth about £15 excluding VAT. We needed to secure the property as we had to catch a holiday flight. On our return the repair lasted only one day before failing again.

Needed emergency locksmith as my normal guy I use was away. They quoted £59+ vat on the phone.
He pretended he couldn’t pick the lock and said it was a medium lock and that it had to be drilled at £149 + vat. The quote he gave for replacement was extortionate so I turned the replacement down.
My normal guy came two days later and told me had a standard lock that could have been picked! So I’ve wasted so much money and now I have to change my lock as he drilled it off.
Do not use!!!!!
