I am profoundly dissatisfied with the service I received from myLondonLockSmiths.co.uk. If I could give them a rating lower than one star, I certainly would.
To begin with, the technician arrived a staggering 1.5 hours beyond the initially promised timeframe, even though their office had assured me of a 1-hour response.
When he finally arrived, he managed to gain access to my property using nothing more than a rigid piece of paper. This service was agreed upon at a cost of £50 + VAT.
However, the real frustration began when I requested the removal of a specific component. Without any prior discussion of additional charges, the technician proceeded to unscrew two screws on the lock and remove the lever.
It is imperative by law that customers be informed of charges in advance. When I asked him about the cost of fixing it, he responded with, "It depends on the lock you need, and the removal has already cost you £39 + VAT." I was taken aback, as he should have discussed the fee beforehand.
Adding to the ordeal, the technician's limited proficiency in the English language made communication extremely challenging, especially given the circumstances.
It is absolutely vital for the company to provide thorough training to your staff for simple English for COMMUNICATION OF SALES - CREATING LEGAL BINDING CONTRACTS.
My frustration with the unexpected second charge on the invoice cannot be overstated. The service line indicated me to email their office email office AT mylondonlocksmiths.co.uk for a refund, but no one answered after two weeks. This entire experience has been nothing short of dreadful.
Just a joke of a firm who takes…
Just a joke of a firm who takes advantage of you when you most need a service
DO NOT USE !!!
If I could give a minus number I would!!!
Accidentally locked our keys inside our flat so myself and my flatmate called this company. The lady on the phone quoted us around £50 for emergency entry with a standard lock so we agreed.
Then the locksmith turns up and says he can't pick the lock and needs to drill it, so the cost will be £189. We are two young girls living alone in London so obviously needed to get back in to our flat so we agreed and were told as we had a second lock we wouldn't need a new one installing.
Fast forward 10 minutes and we have an invoice for £600??? 50 callout fee, 189 for emergency door entry (should have been 129 as our lock was NOT faulty), 197 for a new lock and 3 keys, 69 labour and 100 VAT... we were both in tears by this point as we didnt feel able to say no with a card machine being waved in our faces... 2 young girls now struggling to get by financially for the next month due to these scammers who wont respond to emails...
SCAMMERS. AVOID AT ALL TIMES
On 1 June 2023 around 8:30pm I was locked out of my flat and needed help to open the door. I did an online search for locksmiths to help open my flat door. I came across London Locksmiths 24H offering reasonable fee (GBP 50) to open the door. I called the phone number available online and the locksmith (Eastern European - Romanian man) arrived in about 30 minutes. The lock on my door is a simple lock. However, instead of opening the door, soon after arriving, the locksmith said the lock on my flat door cannot be opened and it has to be drilled to open. He drilled and broke it open and replaced the lock.
He charged me separately for:
call-out charges = 75
drilling charges = 145
installation charges = 89
replacement charges of lock =185
VAT = 98.80. They are not a company that pays VAT, however, they have charged me VAT fee unlawfully.
Upon investigating later, I found the lock on my flat door was not a high security lock. I am scammed by the Locksmith who charged me almost GBP 600 for drilling through, breaking and replacing the lock.
Reading the reviews here, I notice that the Locksmith is notorious for scamming people the same way.
The Locksmith also operates under 2 different names - one that has the website and the other name used to issue receipts. The names are Lock Services London Ltd. and London Locksmith 24H.
ABSOLUTELY AVOID THEM! They are scammers!
Go to trusted websites like Master Locksmiths Association to check whether the locksmith is listed on their website.
Absolute Daylight Robbery - Never use this firm
absolute daylight robbery - came out to replace a lock after an attempted break in. Changed 3 locks and got a bill for £1689!!!!! Have subsequently checked the cost of the locks used which do not even total £100.
Will be starting a small claims court case against this unscrupulous firm.
Scammers
This company is just scammers. They told me on the phone that they would be able to pick Banham locks, turned up and told me they couldn’t pick Banham locks and forced me to pay a call out charge. I had made it clear on the phone that I would only call them out if they could pick a Banham lock. Absolute scam. They ignore emails when you complain and pretend they will reply even though you have been waiting weeks.
Use Which or Checkatrade!
i am so annoyed that i didn't see these reviews. i was locked out of my flat and quoted £50 for 'basic' but then given an invoice of £448 which was a complete shock. I feel like such a fool. They did a good job and the locksmith was nice but the price was way too high and i don't even know for sure that they needed to drill the lock and replace it.
There seems to be a company policy to lure you in with a cheap basic price and then land you with a massive fee. Use Checkatrade or Which Trusted Trader to find a locksmith.
Update: I complained to the company and received a £60 refund. So i gave two stars to reflect this.
had my locks replaced
had my locks replaced - fast and same day service. thanks Viktor.
Totally ripped off
Totally ripped off. Maybe I should have checked while the locksmith was here but was charged £542 to replace two 5 lever mortice locks. £177 + VAT for the locks which could be bought for £30 online. Utter robbery. Going to sue them in small claims.
Do not use this company because they…
Do not use this company because they are scammers. I called them and was told no call out charge then charged me call out on the door step when he couldn't open the lock.
Avoid this company bunch of scammers
Avoid this company bunch of scammers. I usually check trust pilots, on this occasion I didn’t.
I wish I could give 0 star
I wish I could give 0 star. They steal from you. The price they gave me over the phone was £45+VAT.it wasn’t an emergency case so he came the following day, changed 4 screws on the hing of the door and charged me £145. I emailed them and still waiting for their response but as I read the reviews there is no hope from them or getting any refunds.
AVOID them at all cost
AVOID them at all cost. The man who came to fix the patio door did not give the quote before starting the work despite being asked. He kept repeating that I don't know how much it will cost you. When he gave the quote, it came as a complete shock as he charged £462.00 for changing a door lock!!!
It was a complete rip off :(
Scam artists
Scam artists charged £1,108.80 to change a lock on a door. This should of cost a lot less. Quoted £200 then demanded the full payment on job completion.
Beware! They are out to get you
I fell prey to this unscrupulous company which in my view should not be allowed to trade. Like with others who have reviewed, they completely misled on the price and before I properly realised, had parted with a large sum of money. And I'm normally careful. The so called technician was adept and creating an impression that he was very professional and it was a reputed company and was even nosy around what I do and what's in the house so that is even more worrying given he changed the lock.
Absolute conmen
Absolute conmen. My 81 year old Mum couldn't open front door at 9pm at night. She googled Emergency Locksmith (obviously didn't check reviews as on doorstep on own and was needing to get back in). He arrived, told her lock needed replacing (it didn't, sun had swollen door slightly and just needed hefty shove, lock was under a year old). He changed lock (£40 online). He gave her bill for £1057 and took payment via credit card on doorstep. I will also be reporting to Trading Standards. Avoid company at all cost.
It's disgusting that you can't stop…
It's disgusting that you can't stop this company trading , I was robbed like many others, I was desperate and rang the first locksmith on a website to my absolute loss, I am fuming and am going to give their address a visit asap!
Unfortunately it isn’t possible to give…
Unfortunately it isn’t possible to give a 0 or negative star rating on Trustpilot because that is what this company deserves. While I was abroad for a few days my wife inadvertently locked herself out of the house one evening. The first company that popped up on Google was MyLondonLocksmiths and, as it was dark and she was locked out, she called them. The ONLY remotely good thing about this outfit is that they were quick to get to our house, but that is where it ends. A straightforward procedure to drill out the lock and replace it with a new Yale lock came with a staggering price tag of £572!!!! The visiting locksmith made out that it was a complicated procedure that that we were getting a better, more secure lock, which can actually be bought on Amazon for £29, as opposed to the £249 that was charged. Aside from the exorbitant charge that was made, this felt like a violation and that a lady on her own, in a difficult situation, was totally taken advantage of by a bunch of con artists. I asked my wife the following day to query the charges that were made and all that they said was that they were an emergency service and that all their charges were shown on their website. Indeed they are but almost every one is prefixed with the word ‘from’, which appears to give them carte blanche to charge exactly what they want. Having read many of the reviews on TrustPilot it appears that this company have been acting in this manner and conning unsuspecting customers for a long time. It is amazing to think that they can continue to operate in this manner. I just hope that more people do not fall foul of their unscrupulous practices but sadly I suspect that this will not be the case. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE AT ALL COSTS!!!
Report Ionut-Alin ORASANU to Crime agency
I fell victim to these crooks on 2nd June 2023. I took the action to report them to National crime prevention agency. I urge other victims to report their cases to the Action Fraud agency (National Fraud and Cyber Crime reporting centre)
this man Ionut-Alin ORASANU should be behind bars along with his gang for these crimes. He has been doing this for such a long time under different companies. You can check those details in the company house. Search company house for National Locksmith Ltd.
Avoid like the plague
Avoid like the plague! Charged £689 for lock barrel that's available for £58 retail, plus fitting and call out charges totalling £400.
