In general I’ve always been pretty wary of data recovery companies due to the amount of charlatans and the many horror stories of people getting scammed, losing money or having their data held hostage.

Richard and the team at Xytron, on the other hand, have been fantastic.

We sent them our dead external hard drive and they were able to tell us during the free inspection, that a crashed head had caused the problems and luckily that they’d be able to access and recover the data for £350 - which is far cheaper than some other companies were quoting.

They sent us an itemised list of the data that they could recover, and gave us the option to either go ahead with their service or decline. If we had declined they would have simply sent the hard drive back to us.

Xytron don’t accept credit card payment or PayPal and I was quite concerned as I wouldn’t have had any consumer protection if they had turned out to be dodgy but there were no problems and Xytron instantly started work sending out data across.

Originally, Xytron suggested sending our data back on a new external hard drive, which would have incurred extra costs for the purchase of the new hard drive and extra postage. Luckily, after our hard drive failed we had purchased Network Attached Storage and Xytron agreed to transfer us the data onto our hard drive at home via FTP, which saved us a decent amount of money.

Throughout the whole process Richard was patient with my incessant questions, communicated fantastically, and their expertise has meant that we were able to recover around nine years worth of family photographs and documents. This would have been a five star review if they had taken credit card payment or PayPal but that aside I’d highly recommend them to anyone.

Very friendly, helpful, rapid service, they stayed late to receive my data on a Friday night, and once they looked at it on Monday morning I collected it within 4 days. I lost no data so was very happy with their service.

For data recovery you don't need a supplier, you need a partner and Xytron are exactly that. Your data is as secure with them as if it had never left the building.
Quite simply I would not trust anyone else.
Oh and they are very very good at getting results, keeping you informed and being clear about what is happening.

It took me a while to find a company in the data recovery field that did not have horror stories associated with it. As many people know, there are a lot of companies out there who are very willing to take a shot at recovering your data but making your wallet lighter is their main priority. I am pleased to say Xytron's priority is their customer right from the first communication until the end. The steps involved were clearly defined, pricing was fair and all costs approved at each stage of the process. I am pleased to say the majority of my files were recovered from a hardware failure and believe this is down to the teams quality and expertise.

Excellent experience from start to finish. I was extremely distressed as my hard drive had broken and had lots of important family photos and documents on. A local computer shop had tried to start the drive to retrieve the data but to no avail and recommended sterile recovery. I had no idea what I was doing and luckily found Xytron online. They were very helpful on the phone and fully explained what would happen. A courier collected the drive the following day and I had a full diagnostic and quote within 24 hours. The data was all successfully retrieved and returned a week later via courier.

Excellent value for money and much more reasonable than a few other quotes I had. Very prompt and excellent customer service.

Spent two weeks trawling through the minefield that is datarecovery and settled on Xytron after reading recommendations. Dropped an E-mail to Richard at Xytron and it was all plain sailing .Prompt investigations of drive within a day of receiving drive and a fully recovered new drive sent to me within two weeks. Will definitely use the service again if I decide to play football with another hard drive!

That heart stopping moment when you connect your external hard drive with all of your family photos contained only to find the device won't be recognised. Could be the laptop? so try another portable drive only to find that it was also corrupt. This drive was an important business back up so real cold sweats this time.

All resolved in next to no time, took the drives around to Xytron who assured me they would respond in a day or two. They did just that and assured me all data can be recovered, fair price for the job - all data restored and combined on to a new quality portable HD. Thank you Xytron.

Xytron was recommended to me after finding out I had a two hard drive raid system which had failed damaging one of the drives. The drives contained all the photos of my childrens lives from birth and lots of work information. I much a believer in, " you get what you pay for", Xytron did not disappoint. Their communication was excellent, keeping me informed by email or phone throughout the recovery and safely recovered everything I had lost on an external passport hard drive. This is a 5 star company and I highly recommend them to future customers!

shop where my computer was being fixed, got the info off the hard drive and delivered it back to me, hassle free. Then afterwards, they helped

After my vain attempts to copy hundreds of gigabytes of valuable data off an ailing external hard drive had (unbeknownst to me at the time) resulted in damage to the magnetic surface of the disk, making it impossible for me to access even a single file on the disk, I sent the disk off to Xytron, after ringing round a few data recovery companies. Having read the rave reviews on Xytron I already knew to expect a highly professional service, but to add to this, Richard Cuthbertson was very helpful and courteous, in comparison with the rather abrupt manner of the person I spoke to at another company. Once my disk arrived with Xytron, their engineers looked at it very promptly and diagnosed the problem: physical damage to the disk's platters caused by a very serious head failure. From my own brief research on the internet, I knew that platter damage could mean that the disk was totally unrecoverable, and I suspect most data recovery companies would have declared it so. The engineers at Xytron were able to gain access to the disk, however, and within a couple of days of doing so were able to recover 100% of my data!!! -- hundreds of gigabytes of priceless photographs and studio recordings from the last ten years! To have them back is an incredible relief! In short, I wouldn't hesitate for a second about using Xytron again (although, of course, I am now taking every step to ensure that I never will require data recovery again), and couldn't recommend them highly enough.

After Kroll Ontrack which some regard as a leading international specialist was unable to perform recovery on my drive, Xytron took up the task and eventually overcome the technical challenge to restore the data.

Last year my Mac hard disk crashed and, though all my current work was backed, my archive was not (I thought my agency did that but they didn't). There were tv scripts dating back to 2000, plus every idea I'd ever written down in a decade! A local firm tried and failed to recover the data, then I tried Xytron.
