I'm buying a boat and seeking finance for 50% of the purchase. I read a series of positive reviews and used the repayment calculator on the Pegasus website for a guideline, then called them for advice. After a rushed Q&A their representative put me through to his recommendation, a company called Progressive Money. I'm a home owner with a mortgage that's almost fully paid off, I'm a respected senior business manager with a good credit record and the young man at Progressive Money spoke to me as if I'd just been released from prison. He told me it was completely unrealistic for me to expect an interest rate anywhere near what was advertised on Pegasus's website because I obviously had a bad credit record and was a high risk. He assumed this because Progressive Money takes referrals for people with bad credit. He also asked me why I wanted a loan for a new car (?) so had obviously been briefed very professionally. I ended the call immediately and told Pegasus I would not transact with them or any company associated with them, but since then I've received five text messages and two calls from bad-credit loan specialists telling me they can offer me a car loan (?) regardless of previous bankruptcy (?). I've now secured a boat loan at a very reasonable rate from a professional marine finance company that employs intelligent adults who actually checked my financial background, so things have worked out well for me, but I'm astonished that Pegasus Marine can continue to trade when they employ people who simply want to shunt customers to any lender regardless of what's best for them.
