I moved into Jacob Place
I moved into Jacob Place, Saffron Walden 5 months ago. We have a very energetic and helpful manager who helped me to settle in. I enjoy having my own flat and the opportunity to join in with the organised activities if I wish to. I particularly enjoy lunches in the Bistro when the conversation flows. There is a very happy atmosphere.

From our first contact with Deborah {Sales Manager} Jacob Place, Saffron Walden in late September to our moving in in early December we experienced nothing but friendly, professional and welcomed help throughoutn the whole process. The staff at Jacob Place have proved to be equally helpfull. friendly and caring meaning that we settled in very quickly and soon were able to call Jacob Place home. We were attracted to Jacob Place because it had space around it, was newly built and did not look like an institution but had avariety of styles both outside and in. We have subsequently found all the resdents to be friendly but unintrusive and the variety of activities available extensive. We are very pleased with our move.

Over the last 3 years we had a House…
Over the last 3 years we had a House Manager, Julie Mitchell, who had no regard for the elderly. I found myself keeping away from the main lounge area to avoid her during her working hours (although she found it difficult to adhere to those hours!). I felt uncomfortable with her presence in our home. She took little interest in us as residents. Having lived in my apartment for 13 years the moral in the building was at an all time low. She had a poor reputation amongst residents, rarely checked on our welfare showing little interest. She lacked any level of professionalism and was often seen to be self-serving in her role. I am happy to say Julie Mitchell has resigned from her House Manager position and over the last 7 weeks we have a new manager, Debs Gillham. Debs is warm and engaging, I look forward to interacting with her during my day and she shows a genuine interest in you. She also shows professionalism. I am excited to see how she develops in her role as of course it is early days for her.

House Manager at Holly Place, Cobham April 2026
We have now been in our apartment at Holly Place in Cobham since October 2025 and wish to comment on the outstanding service we have received from our Manager, Jon Upchurch. He is always cheerful and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for him. Any queries we have had to take to him are always dealt with promptly and efficiently and we are extremely impressed with his attitude and the manner in which he carries out his duties. It is a pleasure to have him on site.

Howarth Court Guest Suite
Another wonderful stay in the guest suite at Howarth Court. Nicki is the housemanager and she is warm, friendly, and makes you feel welcome! The guest suite is so spacious and has everything you need for an extended stay. Love the selection of biscuits, coffee, and teas. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you!

A great place to move into
My father moved into The Gate, in Pinewood Gardens, Tunbridge Wells back in 2020 and I cannot praise the facilities and support available to the residents and their families enough. The McCarthy Stone flats are extremely well equipped for the residents and the communal areas exceptionally furnished and well maintained. There are lovely gardens and good outside seating which the residents enjoy sitting and chatting over a drink in good weather.
There are lots of activities, coffee mornings, social events and organised evenings of music that are very popular. Fish & Chip Friday is always very well attended and the residents have started their own weekly lunch club.
The Manager, Cath is extremely helpful and very easy to chat to with any queries and concerns that the residents and their families may have.
The complex is kept very clean and the recycling room works well for residents as they can access this from within the building so no need to go outside the complex.
The security entry system means no-one without an access fob can enter the building unless they are buzzed in by either the residents or the manager and this is very reassuring. The residents are provided with falls alarm pendants and their flats have control panels which they can call for help in an emergency.
There are good facilities locally to with Medical Centre, Pharmacy, Post Office, Tesco store, library and many other shops all within walking distance. A bus stop is also very close by.
The residents look out for each other and it has a very nice friendly community vibe.

A one bedroom flat was previously offered at auction with a guide price of £5,000
It was not sold.
More recently it was again offered at auction with a guide price of £5,000. No bids were received. Offers of £4,000 were invited but none were received.
The flat was not sold.
When new, in 2010, the flat sold for £245,000
The liability of the current owners for the annual Service Charge of £11,163.95 continues.

Market House
I lived in a four bedroom house and I had become very lonely after the death of my husband. Moving to market house in Wimborne has given me a new lease of life. I’m busier than I ever would have been with all the activities. There is always something going on. There is a real sense of community and we all get on really well together.
The staff are all brilliant and attend all our needs.
We are always happy for new people to join us you would be made very welcome.
