Never using again. How the hell you gonna tell me “it takes three to five days for us to send you your refund, we have it, we just have to process it”. But let’s get to before that. You tried to tell me you didn’t get my refund to pay for your dumb fees, one of them I was forced to pay for even though I was filling my own taxes. I told the lady 20 times I had already checked the irs website and told her exactly what I saw before I had to demand a manager because obviously she doesn’t know her job, then the manager admits they do have my money, but it’s gonna take times to “process “. Last time I’m ever using their services

Terrible experience. Been waiting for the “tax professional” to review my return for daysc only to find out that my return was dumped by whoever “professionall” it was assigned to. Wasted days waiting for a reply. Good thing I went to check it my return was not going to be filed.
This company is ridiculous. I will never use them again.

Had many issues with the app and website, not saving the data I tried to edit, so I had to redo many things. I paid extra for their self employed tax filing option, to get the payment taken out of our refund it was another charger of course, and for Spruce, since they claimed we would get our refund early. But, not the case. Additionally, our card has STILL NOT ARRIVED, and it's been over 3 weeks since it was mailed. Ridiculous. I don't see anything special offered from this company. They just trick people into paying for nothing. I'm going back to Free Tax USA next year. It would have been the exact same had I went through them like I did the 2 years prior, only we would have had about $130 more coming back to us. What a joke. Do not recommend.

Worst tax product I have ever used. Do not use this one. I needed for add a 1095a to my taxes ref insurance. They never said anything about another form that is mandatory. There is no explanation on how to fill it out and so my "tax pro" told me my return was rejected even though I was able to get all the way through it and no red flags came up. Now I am locked out of it and can't get to my return to fix anything. I don't know if I have to start over again or what.

This Company is a SCAM piece of crap and I will never be going through them again, and will let every person I know to do the same. I decided to go through H&R Block because they said I could get up to a $4000 cash advance. My refund is over $12,000. They said I have to meet someone to get the advance, file with a H&R person. This increases the cost of filing by a lot! I decided to not use turbo tax as I preferred to just get an emerald card to get bills caught up faster and they did a $1000 advance more. I go in file taxes was charged almost 500.00 mind you TurboTax would have been 135.80 with an advance of 3k! After filing I am told I was declined for the advance! STOP SCAMMING PEOPLE H&R is a piece of crap. They make you come in so they can charge the crap out of you, tell you that you will get a refund advance and then they screw you! I would have gotten a 3G advance instead I get completely screwed, and will probably have my electric shut off, cool no electricity with 5 kids due to your Piece of CRAP COMPANY. I will be going over contract in detail with a lawyer. Screw you. Everyone that got screwed by this please file with the FTC a complaint. H&R Block was literally just fined for deceptive practices 7 million and now they are doing it again. I am filing a complaint if this is not made right immediately. Everyone that gets screwed really need to file. This deception can not continue. I should have never went through them.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Their site works great until you have to pay something. They don't give you any information on how to pay your taxes, they don't mail you anything, no links to websites, no vouchers, etc. All you get is a from that has big letters that says 'CLIENT COPY DO NOT FILE'. When you call them you talk to a call center in India. This from a company that reported a NET income of $609.5 million in 2025. I would avoid H&R Block like the plague if I were you. I used them and it has been a horrible experience.

Horrible place Selden NY. Incompetent people screwed up my families taxes. I wouldn't go here if it was for free. With many other tax agencies around on Google this place is in the cesspool forever. I heard the same concerns about their other locations.

Entered everything, then it wants me to review a few things, one is a SSA-1099. I DO NOT GET SOCIAL SECURITY. So why is it putting that in there? I can find no help for my issue. Then when you do review you have to go all the way back through the whole thing again. What is wrong with you people?

I gave them a 1 star because it will not take anything less, I arrived for my appointment for 6:00PM at 5:30Pm. Ms. Karen W. came out at out at 545PM and looked at my tax forms and stated that it was a lot of work. she then looks at another client paperwork and says I will do this one because it's easy. She came over to me and stated can I do this one first it will take 5 minutes. It was 0630PM when I complained about sitting there for an hour, Ms. Louise M. came out and look at my forms and stated I am tried and this going to take too long. She than asked a Mr. Sebastion to do it. As Mr. Sebastion was doing my taxes Ms. Louise M., kept coming over interrupting Mr. Sebastion asking him to rebut his system, he stated please I am almost done she stated she did not care she wanted to go home she was tired. I have called the manager of this place for a week straight, left messages with zero result. I have never been treated like this in any business.

I filed with them this year and the irs rejected it! I tried to contact the blockheads and the only way I could talk with someone was to upgrade to a more expensive version! Apparently, there is a difference between a 1099 and a ss-1099. Block doesn’t allow you to differentiate between the two and the IRS rejects it if you have taxes taken out of your social security! Block won’t give me an opportunity to discuss this with them! This was my first and last time using them!

Had taxes done on January 10th and my E-file was kicked back due to my “tax expert” spelling my youngest sons last name wrong and even with giving all my documents needed to see names and spelling. Had to do my own detective work to find anything out and not one “expert” could tell me why it’s taking so long. The kick back then triggered my state return to then instead of direct deposit as I set up and double checked to make sure numbers matched was then sent a check and here it is a week after the state says it’s been issued my money and still not here and now I wonder with the federal even with it being separate entities will it affect it also??? DO NOT GO HERE AND DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY AT H&R Block. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND YOU CHARGED ME 364 for this crap!??? I would like to add that this money is planned for my sons and I to move as we have till the end of this month and this is why I filed early. You do not understand some people are in desperate need of every dollar they can get back so over charging me for this kind of results is wrong and just shows how little H&R Block cares for hard working families especially a single mom of two boys. The only thing the office management can say is “there’s nothing I can do” I WILL NEVER BE BACK!!!! Useless worthless tax experts you don’t even care the amount of no peace of mind you leave me with.

This application is just clunky. Cannot easily navigate between various inputs…e.g. income and deductions. Positive deductions not correct but could not get back to those pages to verify. Painfully frustrating. Went to a different solution. Save yourself time and money. Avoid.

I will never use h&r block again. I hit a wrong button and I called them. They transferred me to somebody that they gave me a phone number to call. I accidentally hit a wrong button regarding direct deposit. There is a card called emerald. I guess I never heard of it. Anyhow, it's supposed to go on emerald card. I don't have an emerald card. I don't know what it is and they just will not change it. My checking like I want it to. There you go

Why is it I make an appointment I get there then some guy that doesn’t have appointment gets seen first. Because the lady at front was taking appointments I told her just to give me back my documents I’m disappointed in there service

DO NOT buy!!!!!I have spent OVER an HOUR with online chat, first because the free federal efile activation code was invalid, she gave me three more different ones and said to try again, NEVER did any work, then she emailed me a patch to download, never worked as the system keeps saying "can not connect to HR block server" - and no, it's NOT an internet issue, been getting this same message for over a week, the update WILL NOT WORK. What's more, EVERY SINGLE time I re-attempted to file according to the chat person's instructions, it put another pending State e-file charge on my debit card, so there is now $140,- holding pending!!!!!!!!! don't buy this crap - it worked fine in year's past but 2025 edition is horrendous!

I went in for my "free" double check at the holiday park location to see if I can find any errors on my 2024 tax return. My appointment was with David Cardonas at 2pm of which he didn't see me until 2:45pm - no biggie. When I asked him to review my 2024 return under the "free" double check, he told me that my return was too complicated for him since I sold my home in 2024. I must have been the only customer he's dealt with that sold a home before or had a brokerage account as that too seemed to baffle him (and he was the "master" accountant per their website). All I needed was a double check to see if there were any errors and he didn't even want to bother as he said "why don't you come back when I'm not as busy".

H&R Block Pro made a basic tax error and refused to honor their own refund guarantee.

I used H&R Block’s “Tax Pro” service for a moderately complex return (married filing jointly, multiple brokerage accounts, RSUs/ESPP). All documents were uploaded early. The preparer ignored a required 1099 Supplement and entered a $0 cost basis, causing me to overpay about $1,000 in taxes.

The mistake was confirmed and corrected via an amended return, and the IRS refunded the overpayment. However, H&R Block refused to refund their ~$800 fee, despite advertising a “Maximum Refund Guarantee” for exactly this situation. Their justification was flimsy and based on a scratch spreadsheet I uploaded after discovering the error — even though it contained no new information.

Customer support was unhelpful, the case was untrackable, and the local office manager wouldn’t even review the file. I ultimately recovered my money only by disputing the charge with American Express, which H&R Block did not contest.

Bottom line:

The Tax Pro service is not suitable for anything beyond very simple returns.

Their “Maximum Refund Guarantee” is unreliable.

If you do use them, pay with a credit card that allows disputes.

I won’t use H&R Block Pro again.

Major software glitch. transferred my tax to state and all of the sudden I made millions of dollars and owe 100 of thousands in stated tax. No humans to speak to anymore, they have just given everything over to AI blindly that cant solve real issues.
