Will not use H and R Block again. We paid the $109 to file our federal and state taxes, only for them to get rejected ever single time. I have tried to file them about 10 times and every time they come back rejected. I called to get help from someone in customer service, she was very nice, however, just had me submit the exact same information I already submitted, resulting in yet another rejection. I will have to just print and snail mail my returns since they are useless at processing my taxes. I asked if I could get a refund of my money since they will not process my returns and she put me on hold then came back and said I could not get a return of the $109 for some bs reason. They are scamming people advertising they can efficiently and easily file your taxes, when in reality you pay for them to get filed, they won't file or even attempt to fix the issue and refuse to refund the money you paid for their shi**y services. Do not pay this business and do not use them for your taxes.

I engaged Agent Melissa Parks to handle my tax preparation on April 9th at 11219 York Rd, Cockeysville, MD. She promptly scanned all of my documents into the system and informed me that while she could not complete my taxes that same day, she would contact me on either April 11th or 12th to review and finalize the filing. Unfortunately, I never received any follow-up communication from her.

On Monday, April 14th—just one day before the filing deadline—I contacted the office and was informed that Ms. Parks was not present and her availability was unknown. A representative assured me that a message would be relayed to her to call me back urgently. I also contacted the customer service line, where another representative scheduled a call with Ms. Parks for Tuesday, April 15th (the tax deadline). Regrettably, Ms. Parks failed to return my call on Monday and did not honor the scheduled call on Tuesday.

Melissa Parks demonstrated a concerning level of unprofessionalism and unreliability. She neglected to provide even a brief communication to inform me that she would not be completing my return. Her failure to fulfill her responsibilities placed me under significant and unnecessary stress, scrambling to meet the filing deadline at the last minute. I cannot recommend her services based on this experience.

DO NOT GO Here – Charged my Elderly Parents $800 and Posted a Fake 5-Star Review. I booked an appointment for my elderly parents at 891 Upper James St #108, Hamilton, ON L9C 7N1 location. They were charged $800 for two simple tax returns (CPP, OAS, and pensions only), which is completely unreasonable. The person who did the taxes, Ali, did not explain the fees properly beforehand. Additionally, a 5-star review was posted under my name without my knowledge or consent.

I filed my 2024 tax returns with H&R Block early so I could get my return early.
I get a letter from the IRS that they did not get all the forms. H&R Block sent it in electronically and messed up. Then tell me to send it in. I paid over 300 dollars for the service. They make a mistake and won’t help me out or take care of it. The quote they stand behind you is a false advertisement. Because they don’t. Now I have a headache doing all this and fixing their mistake.

I will never use HR block again for my taxes. I paid $95 extra for the tax pro review, had a virtual video appt scheduled with her and she never showed up. Extremely unprofessional and a waste of money. Customer service will not issue me a refund, instead they hire unreliable and unprofessional "tax professionals" to "do" your taxes and "give you advice". Very disappointed.

I received a notice back in November of 2024 regarding a possible assessment from the DOR for our 2021 tax return. I made multiple attempts to contact a tax rep at HR block, with ZERO response.

When I did finally get ahold of someone, probably 1.5 months later, I was told we needed to file an amended return, as there was a missing W2 on the original return and we had to pay almost $400 back to the DOR.

Fast forward a bit, it is now April and I am still fighting this, they are denying my claim (their "peace of mind" option) stating I never gave the documentation to the original prep person, which is completely inaccurate.

This company is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with. Their customer service people are rude and I was hung up on once, one person sent me to some random banking center which I asked to speak to "client claims," then a third rep told me "client claims" has no direct line to call and everything had to be done via email.

What kind of joke of a company does this? How can they sit here and charge me hundreds of dollars for "peace of mind" never stating EVERYTHING HAD TO be submitted online and then accuse me of lying and deny my claim.

This company is an embarrassment and shouldn't be allowed to "help" people with their taxes. It seems like a scam and false advertising.

I spoke with client claims department when someone FINALLY returned my phone call and they again, insisted I never provided the documents and continue to deny my claim.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY + ESPECIALLY DO NOT PAY FOR "PEACE OF MIND" because it is far from what they provide.

I opted for a remote tax filing and was assigned a tax expert. He did not start processing my file for three weeks. I had to call Hrblock customer service and then he started the process. Still the communication via Hrblock messaging system is slow as the tax expert replies with a delay of one or two days and won't be available on phone. When he called me, he only asked for the documents, but did not take time to explain the breakdown of the taxes. In the end CRA disallowed some of the refunds. I now have to follow up with CRA. I will not recommend the service from Hrblock.

Horrible service. Got it wrong. Ended up having to pay a ton extra cause of these morons. You'll end up having to do it yourself anyway. AVOID

I guess you get what you pay for. We had to do more work than the person that helped us. Their fax machine wasn’t working, very unprofessional. Had to make so many phone calls to get help, still waiting for refund, the person didn’t help us at all.If I can give zero stars I would.we did our taxes in February.

Tried to file taxes with H&R Block remotely, got assigned a tax expert, sent him all the required documents, got no response for next two weeks, tried to call him twice to no avail, called their hotline trying to figure out what's going on, got an answer that my case will be escalated and I will be reassigned to another tax advisor. Two weeks later still nothing. Eventually filed with another company. One month wasted. This company is hopeless.

I am very disappointed with H&R Block. I recently received a 30% off coupon for their Deluxe filing service, only to find that it had already expired FOUR days before I even received it.
Upon contacting customer care to explain this obvious error on H&R Block's part and to ask them to honor the coupon, they refused with no explanation. The customer service representative (Kevin) was unhelpful and frankly, unprofessional. And was unwilling to honor the coupon even though it was clearly their mistake. He didn’t offer anything to take responsibility for their error!!
From the increasingly higher fees, to the decline in customer service, I know this in no longer a company I want to do business with.
As a long-time customer of H&R Block, I am incredibly disappointed by this treatment. It's upsetting to realize that after years of loyalty, a simple error on their end is met with bad attitudes, inflexibility and poor service. Not to mention it was THEIR FAULT to begin with.

This experience has made it clear that my business is not valued by H&R Block, and I will be taking my tax preparation needs somewhere else . I have been told there are other services out there that value their customers and are cheaper. Really a shame!

They are pulling a Bait & Switch. One Tax preparer will do your taxes-quote you a price. You than meet with a second Tax preparer to file and they raise your prices through the roof.

I had a frustrating experience with H&R Block this tax season. Despite expecting a straightforward process. Amy B. reviewed my documents and quoted $350 to complete my taxes, however, I was charged $479. To make matters worse, their handling of my taxes led to a near additional payments I wasn’t anticipating.
They put my sons funds for college as addition income totaling in an additional $5,000 owed to the IRS. I was the one who noticed the mistake and had to wait over an hour to have the mistake corrected. If you're considering H&R Block, I recommend carefully reviewing the costs and ensuring you get clear explanations before proceeding and review the documents before submitting to the IRS.

On April 10, 2024 I called because I had problems with their tax disc asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor was three weighed in on the conversation and then instructed the subordinate to hang up which you did.

Absolutely terrible company. I wouldn’t recommend their tax services to my worst enemy and if it was free. Awful interface and super faulty system online/on the app. Customer service full of incompetent fools who don’t give a damn. I was matched with a tax pro who screwed up multiple times. I had numerous scheduling and customer service issues. Good on me for not following through. Will be changing my service provider. An absolute joke of a company. -100/10

I wanted people on fixed income to be aware about how expensive H&R Block is and to not go there.
The last time I was at H&R Block to have my Income Tax done was 2020 in the Glebe, at that time I was charged $83.60. Lately, I went to Merivale Road, and was charged $136.99+$17.81= $154.80. That is a terrific jump in price. In 5 years, there has been an increase of $71.20. Then, I was asked if I wanted to pay $14.99 extra for them to handle any questions from Canada Revenue in the next three years, which I declined. If I had known the young Asian woman would have charged me so much when my income was so small, I would have avoided them like the plague. I wanted to warn anyone in my position who is on fixed income, to stay away from H&R Block. I feel like I was taken advantage of by Na Li. Never ever going back there again.
Are they charging such a high rate because they are from US and are charging additional 25% tariffs? Guess not, perhaps they have become just very expensive.

When they say "tax professionals" they aren’t kidding. This is the annual season of angst + gloom. I tried to do my 41 pages!! myself last year but threw up my hands. This yr, basically walked into a local office, was told to leave them w her overnite(?j n they were ready next morning at 9a. Toni Ann Hildenbrand was warm, helpful n reassuring. Thought of everything! So impressed. Will NEVER try n do taxes on my own again. 1000 stars! Honest.

In previous years, purchasing H&R Block Tax software has been very easy to purchase and download from Amazon, but not now. Instead of a simple download from Amazon, customers are now required to go to the H&R Block website and TRY to get the purchased software from them. I say TRY because their process did not work for me and wasted too much of my time. I therefore needed to cancel the order with Amazon and seek a different software source.

I HAVE BOUGHT HRB TAX SOFTWARE FOR MANY YEARS AND LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR THE SERVICE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. I NEED THE DOWNLOAD LINK FOR CALIFORNIA PORTION OF THE SOFTWARE AND NOBODY WILL HELP ME GET IT! I BOUGHT THE FULL PACKAGE ON AMAZON AND HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS TO GET SOMEONE AT AMAZON OR SOMEONE AT HRBLOCK TO GIVE ME THE DOWNLOAD LINK TO GET THE CALIF PORTION I ALREADY PAID FOR, BUT NOBODY HELPS ME! THIS IS SUCH A SIMPLE REQUEST, BUT I CAN'T GET ANY HUMAN AT HRBLOCK TO TALK TO, AND AMAZON IS TOTALLY UNHELPFUL TOO. I GO THROUGH THIS EVERY YEAR BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANY HRBLOCK SOFTWARE AGAIN AFTER THIS ORDEAL IN 2025! I NEED THE DA*NED DOWNLOAD LINK. WHERE IS IT??
