My husband and I joined Gymetc Leyland late last year. Due to working hours, I could only go late evenings, after 7pm. There is an Aqua Aerobics class between 7pm and 8pm one night a week, so the pool is full.
Without fail, every evening I attended, the poolside felt slippery underfoot. The tiles are anti slip, but despite this they felt slimy. Obviously, they are not cleaned properly. The shower and changing areas are never clean and there are only 2 changing cubicles in the ladies changing area.
Due to the lack of cleanliness, we decided to cancel our membership. Cancelled DD but within 2 months, we were threatened with debt collection. Upon contacting them, my husband was was advised that we had to carry on paying until November, he offered to pay in full but was given the number of Credit Resolutions Services. He rang them and paid £185! He received a letter thanking him for the payment.
Today, I received a text message from Credit Resolutions Services saying they needed to speak to me regarding a letter the had sent out.....I rang and was told I owe £236!
So it seems, they only took payment for my husbands remaining membership.
However, I have asked them for a breakdown of what the debt includes as membership was £25 per month each. We only had 5 months membership remaining (£125each) and CRS fees are £66, so something doesn't quite add up.

All in all, Gymetc - unhelpful staff and dirty environment. You'd do well to steer clear.

As most gym users do every now and again, I left some bits in a locker over night (£100 hooded top sent over from America, towel etc) when I stirred the lick had clearly hen cut off and the contents gone... the staff did absolutely nothing to help and the “duty manager” (Stephen) actually looked smug while he explained that “unfortunately belonging are left at your own risk” I am 100% positive that it was a member if staff who took the opportunity to break into my locker and steal my belongings knowing there is nothing I can do about it!

The real shame here is that the gym itself is great! But the staff are AWFUL, constantly chatting at reception, never cleaning, rude, lazy, unwilling to help members with the most basic requests, the “duty managers” are children who have ZERO customer service skills, the facilities are lacking in basic common sense (no water fountains in the pool near he sauna/steam room, no cold showers on poolside) and worse of all iv seems, on many occasions the young “duty manger” walking through the changing rooms on his phone while there are children getting changer... 😡

If you do decide to join Gym Ect Leyland be warned l, the staff are a waste of space and you are literally only paying for the facilities! Might as well be a Anytime Fitness... ❌❌❌

Not to be trusted as the Orrell gym continued to take money from my son's account after he cancelled his contact when he moved to university. They did not refund his money, I would give them a zero if I had the option to do so.

What a surprise that they are all bad. Staylbridge Gym as a whole was ok to work out in. However customer service with them was appalling. I emailed to say I was moving so could no longer commute to and from the gym to my house as was over 20 miles. Replied with no issues and that it was all cancelled etc. Cancelled my direct debit to then be given a written letter of a fee of over £40 for cancelling without notice and also an admin fee. When I emailed to explain etc they denied any contact with me and then sent a debt colllector for over £300 in fees!!! After sending them all my evidence they agreed I was in the right and cleared it for me, will never EVER associate with a gym backed by their name

This is a copy of an email that I sent to Poulton on the 7th March. As of yet, they haven't responded.

Ive also contacted the Leyland Head office to get in touch with the area manager, and was told, that he is based in Stalybridge, and he won't take direct calls, and they won't issue his direct email address,

Dear Sirs

I recently visited the Poulton Gym and was disappointed as to the cleanliness of the wet area and male change rooms. This area has clearly not been cleaned properly for a very long time, I know this, as I left the gym late in 2017 due to illness, and re joined late 2018, with the same areas still filthy

The sauna
There was grime between the seats that has been there week after week and never cleaned. The floor under the seats was full of stale water, and the floor looked like it hasn't been cleaned for a good while.

The Hot Tub
The WHITE grill that goes around the drain area, is filthy, and has not been cleaned for such a long time that the grime has stained the colour, it looks a dirty grey, when it should be white. The drains under the grille have not been cleaned, with dried grime everywhere.

The Pool
There is grit in the corners of the pool , that walls have not been cleaned are you can scrape the scum off with your finger nails. The hand rails to the pool and hot tub are filthy and have no evidence of being cleaned, especially that areas that you don't hold on to.

The steam Room
This smells like someone has died in it, the walls are filthy.

Male Change rooms
The shower cubicles are filthy and have not been cleaned properly for a long time. the white drain grilles have had the same chewing gum in them for as long as I can remember, The swimming shorts spinner wasn't working again,

Altho the main gym area is in an excellent condition, and is cleaned all the time, there is very little evidence to show that the same level of detail is being shown to the wet area.

I am very disappointed that the attention to detail has been lacking for some time, as I remember this area being cleaned all the time.

I have a medical condition called Meyloma, which effects my immune system, so being in an area that potentially make me ill is something I want to avoid at all costs. So I have cancelled my direct debit, and am canceling my membership with immediate effect.

Very dirty. Since they started kids swimming at every possible opportunity there has been Mums sat eating in the changing rooms, unable to swim due to these lessons also. Toilet locks broken for years. Gym is filthy and we have noted towels sat on machines for a week. Same machines broken for months. As they don’t monitor who does in and out can only imagine they are breaking health and safety. Not worth the fee at all. Have been bullied off machines by blokes who think they own the place and as a female I don’t find this acceptable.

Awful gym. Member of the Poulton Le Fylde gym. Small, dark, smelly gym with old equipment and only 4 weight benches so you have to wait for ages to be able to do anything.

Terrible Gym,

was a member at the stalybridge site, where the staff are rude.
The gym is over crowded, to the extent of you cannot use the equipment to a full work out and as a result, is generally very dirty.

Upon finishing my contract, they continued to take payments, then refused to credit it back.
Avoid at all costs !
