for a few months tried to get a response from customer service. no telephone number available. emails not answered even with help from front desk staff

First put our membership up
Now I’ve been on the sick for about 6 week due to an operation and wanted to freeze my account they told me it would be till September this was from may,
Since that I have been charge a full membership twice,an absolute disgrace and shambles they haven’t a clue how to run the gym if it was me owing them money it would be different,
It took over a month for them to tell me I had a dds form or something to fill out I did that and still been charged again I’m sick of ringing them emailing them at stalybridge I’ve had an operation I’ve even been in with my big moon boot on with 25%weight bearing when I should be recovering i want to take it further but only people I can speak to is GymEtc at stalybridge and they haven’t helped at all only made it worse what a joke honestly

The gym itself has a decent selection of equipment but is definitely in need of an upgrade the pool area never looks clean neither does the disabled toilet. However my main reason for writing this review and cancelling my membership is the customer service or I should say lack of it. The employees never look like their happy to be at their job and the site manager is absolutely awful. She needs some customer service training and even when trying to approach her manager to leave a complaint the entire thing was a shamble. Can't speak to anyone in person can only communicate to the most basic email address for the gym that all staff apparently have access too which i find very useful professional for a complaints procedure. Never addressed the point skirted over it by hiding behind policies and procedures that were unrelated to my actual complaint. Stated I wanted to end my membership due to this and they pretty much closed the door behind me verbally.

Be warned I would 100% recommending avoiding this business.

GYMETC CONGLETON
There are no provisions in place to limit numbers, monitor people training in breach of covid and no social distancing I'm place! Even the staff ignore covid regulations to train with members outside of their bubble! The gym is filthy with hair and other things on the floor, yet GYMETC state they have a strict covid cleaning regime! Staff use the equipment and don't wipe down afterwards.

The manager is never there and they don't respond to emails or contact via social media

Bad gym,dirty, bad customer service, they suspended me and terminated me for reporting them after catching foot infection in there

Taking direct debits when the gym is closed. Changed the length of my contract without advising me. Increased the price without telling me. Changing rooms are dirty. Poor customer service. AVOID.

Be very careful when signing up to gym etc. Bad customer service very poorly run. I haven't been a member of gymetc for a very long time and they are still taking direct debit off me. Whoever is in an office running this company you really need to go back to school. Running a business isn't an easy job and you are obviously not equipped to deal with this company. You need to go back to basics a rethink how this company is run. You also need to hire a cleaner you have some fantastic facilities but you do not look after it at all.

Keep taking Direct Debits when closed due to Covid. Zero communication about what is happening or when it is open. Use the cowboy company Harlands Group to harass you if you try to cancel. Disgusting

This is a very poor gym compared to when it was fx. I’ve stopped using the gym as people are not cleaning the machines before or after use. I don’t know how many times I’ve spoke to the staff about this. I stopped using the gym and started using the pool area. Again very poor. The jacuzzi didn’t work. It was filthy. The zen room was cold and the music was shocking. The fire and ice room had no ice and again not very warm. And to top it off. They have started kids swimming lessons in a very small pool. I’ve cancelled my membership and now been told I have to pay £25 incurred charges and further charges. I’m trying to contact the centre to cancel my membership and they have shut down their sites. Very very poor gym

Concerns regarding COVID secure procedures and policing of members in the club.
No social distancing on equipment , left to members to police themselves
Attended gym with another person coughing continuously... this individual did not clean equipment after use , I complained and no strict measures taken against this member.
No COVID checks on entrance ...
Very worrying

Smell of sewerage in men’s changing room every visit. Members emptying mucus from nose and throats in showers and nothing ever done even after complaining. Then even charged me the extra £20 admin fee after I’d asked to cancel meaning they get extra £20 and I get nothing in return.
Not much to like here try another gym.

Cancelled my membership following the correct procedure of filling out the form and giving 1 calendar months notice.

However the Gym continued to take payments after the agreed last payment date.

Understand that on occasions mistakes happen so gave them benefit of the doubt and rang them to request refund. They initially agreed but never received the refund. After following up they refuse and basically say it's tough. When tried to escalate the matter with the lady, was told she is the manager and this is "how it is".

Appalling service, I used the think this was a decent gym but now won't go near it and will advise everyone else to avoid.

Joined but when got there no information on machines just left me to figure out myself.cleaning leaves a lot to be desired.will cancel as soon as posible

Think the bad reviews are a case of 'I only speak when I'm outraged'. been going 4-5x a week since the reopening In Leyland, it's fantastic. My only issue is the exhibitionist old men who like to walk around naked while 'getting dressed' for 10 minutes in the changing room, but that's not the gym's fault - everything else is great, good choice of machines (but only 2 rowing machines!), great pool and really relaxing outdoor jacuzzi (although the streams and bubbles could have a bit more pressure).

Tried to sign up as a member as free Feb in Stalybridge and they took £28.05 out my bank and didn't give me my free month. Been in contact now for 25 days still no refund. Being passed from pillar to post its ridiculous. Gymetc was quick enough to take my payment but aren't attentive enough to pay it back. Disgusting!

Stalybridge - children’s swimming lessons are bring down the quality of the gym. It has become somewhat of a leisure centre over the past year. As a loyal member for over 10 years I have seen many changes in this gym, but the recent focus on children’s swimming lessons is severely detrimental to the appeal of going in the pool, changing rooms, toilets and coffee area.

I had made a mistake when signing up for the congleton gym. I rang the Congleton gym to try and rectify it, a lady answered the phone in a noisy environment I asked if she could put me through to someone who could understand me over the noise and who i could understand (being autistic phone calls aren't great for me even moreso where the person is in a noisy environment) she continued to relay information back and forth between someone at a computer, the tone of voice was somewhat flippant and disbelieving. She ended by telling me to just cancel my membership. I rang and asked if I could do it over the phone, the same lady barked the word email at me. I sent an email for 4 consecutive days and a message to the personal trainer through their online web area asking to cancel. I then waited 4 weeks before calling back, the man who answered said it could have been done over the phone and he was unsure why my other correspondence went unanswered. I explained the full story he cancelled the membership. He replied to one of my emails stating "confirmation of cancellation, apologies that you feel you had poor customer service" incensed I responded thanking for the non apology, outlining everything asking if he thought that it amounted to good customer service, 4 weeks on no reply. They have taken the money from my account, even though I have cancelled my membership and did so within the terms of their cancellation policy. I am awaiting a response.

Gateshead Gym etc. Clean and friendly gym that is great value for money. 20 metre pool, steam rooms, jacuzzi and gym with long opening hours, (6:30 am till 10 pm Mon-Thur , 6:30 till 8-p Friday 9-7pm Weekends) Open most bank holidays. All for £210 per year (£260 if you want classes too). I pay annually and have never had any payment quibbles

Cramped and dirty changing rooms, cramped dirty and damaged showers, cardio machines not working.

Glad I got the rolling membership so at least I'm not out a full year. Looks great from the outside, and in pictures, but the inside is a completely different story. Wall to wall neglect.

Avoid avoid avoid

I have been attending this gym for quite some time and have found it helps immensely with my mental health and wellbeing.

Only Monday just passsed, I was suspended from this gym without any notice of explanation as to why.

Gossip has circulated and apparently I have offended someone in the changing rooms because I have been seen naked.

The changing room has only 2 modesty rooms and this is unavoidable.

Managers, Leonie (Orrell branch) and Richard Area Manager (Leyland Branch) have not gave me a lawful and binding reason for the suspension.

I was threatened by staff only yesterday, that they had been ordered to call the Police if I am found on the premises even though my membership is still active and they have yet to reimburse me.

I have tried to contact various managers all over the country regarding this issue and have been 'fobbed off'.

Furthermore the staff have been very rude to me and have expressed their dislike of me verbally and in front of other members of the gym.

Gymetc does not seem to have a formal complaints procedure and I am struggling to fight my corner and feel very frustrated and discriminated against.

I will not take this lying down. This is the second gym I have been bullied out of for no formal offense other than certain people ganging up on me and making up random false accusations.

Gym etc have promised me a refund which in my eyes, says clearly that they are in the wrong or they would not be offering a refund....

we shall see. I will keep the public posted how my claim goes.
