I was offered exemptions due to having studied full time at university. As I had been told I was exempt I registered in 2020 to begin studies and hopefully to be come fully qualified.
Fast forward, pandemic and other mitigating circumstances I haven’t taken any exams but still paid the annual subscription.
Been notified that I am no longer exempt as they didn’t have documentation ( but knew which exams I was exempt from because I actually had sent documentation) and need to pay over £1000 for the exemptions 4years later.
Apparently they asked for documentation prior to me registering when they offered free exemptions.
Massive money maki h scheme with very little support or communication over the years.
I will be happy as part qualified and not having to pay extortion fees as and when it suits

This organisation appears to be like a mafia to me.

My data is held on their platform - I am not able to access it until I pay.

At first, they asked me to pay £617 to re-register. when I questioned, they returned and said they made a mistake and I would need to £175.

Their platform does not offer value for money for me. Just so that I could access my data on their platform they want me to pay £174, which is £89 re-registration fee + £85 for I don't know what!

This organisation needs a proper overhaul by the regulators in my opinion, including how they grade the exams, and why they allow only a certain percentage to pass. Is that even fair?

The website is great. Study materials get updated on regular basis. Exam standards good and no exemptions given lightly. Customer service also very good. It's good Acca is keeping good standard and not going downhill like Cima. I seriously dont know why people complaining. For those who are complaining: try cima and then you will appreciate acca standards.

Firstly the course is very expensive for what they offer to the students themselves, however when you go to the asking for help there response to me was we can’t unless you pay us even more. £154 for 1 individual exam which I then a family emergency which I called over a Month before the exam to try change the exam to the morning not even a refund just change it. They said no u can cancel no refund and then rebook though. Amazing so i could pay £308 for that one exam for what them to fail me by one mark like they have done 3 times now. Also for the price you pay you don’t get to look over the exam you sat a see how it’s been marked to improve you are left in the dark and told come back next time. They don’t care about anyone that is studying all they care about is cash

Subject: Disappointed with ACCA's Handling of Complaint

I'm disappointed by my recent experience with ACCA. I filed a complaint regarding fraudulent activities involving one of their members and dedicated months to gather evidence, only to find that my evidence wasn't thoroughly examined. It's concerning that the responses I received appeared to be influenced by the firm I complained about, possibly due to their indemnity insurance.

I believe it's crucial for ACCA to prioritize a comprehensive review of the documents provided, especially in cases of potential fraud and conflicts of interest. Regrettably, my experience has left me with a lack of confidence in ACCA's ability to address such issues effectively. Moreover, the fact that my complaint was not subject to their jurisdiction despite ACCA being a governing body is outrageous, as they should be responsible for directing it to the correct jurisdiction.

Spend many years and a lot of money to get the qualifications.

Once you get this you have to pay a fee each year.

Can't start up your own practice whilst being an ACCA member without getting a practising certificate which requires a member to sign it off.

So actually the membership holds you back in life.

If you do manage to get it signed off then that's another £500 a year in fees. But for what? 4 letters after your name?

I have cancelled my membership as of today so that I can move forward in my career.

it has destroyed my life and career completly. now i am a suicide patient and waiting to die anytime. it just runs on their marketing power, without having any ability to help a student become succedded into their life.

Would not recommend ACCA to anyone. I have had countless issues in general but with the majority being due to exams being cancelled, starting late and the general conditions on the day of the exam. The amount of money it costs to sit exams for it to be a complete shambles its ludicrous for a "professional" organisation. I have brought this to the attention of ACCA only to be given a £30 credit when the exam was over £400, it really doesn't scream professional does it! Not only that but modules per the ACCA website are now not working for over a month when students are trying to complete their qualification without being able to access information at the time it is due isnt right.
Its really not good enough.
Anyone wanting to sit their accounting exams I would advise ICAEW, they seem to have significantly less issues and much more helpful staff.

I have been trying to obtained the practice licence and proving really difficult and slow with ACCA. Quite disappointed with the process, have to wait months for response and find the process... challanging.

I have applied for the excemptions and paid for the subscription over 6 months ago.Not only I haven't received an e-mail with the excemptions I am allowed to have but they haven't even processed my papers, I've tried processing my papers 2 to 3 times I have never received a response. I called them last week and they said they will process it within 10 days. Today I tried logging on to my account deleted cookies cleared history and my access is still denied.what kind of nonsense is that? As If I haven't had enough problems already, you are denying me with the access I am eligible to ever since I paid for your subscription services. This is a load of rubbish...

I made a complaint against one of their members Sarah Kay of TAX ASSISTWESTMINSTER (to be avoided like the plague)who was to have broken the ACCA rules and a response was not what I had expected, having had a legal opinion from two leading barristers who both say she breached their code of ethics and broke the law, the ACCA investigation a nightmare and I ended up in the hospital due to the stress this caused me and it took 7 months to carry out what i stated from the outset would be the ACCA never finds anyone guilty of anything that would damage their fee income. Not once would they commit to any kind of time frame and when they did, I would have the chase and chase them over and over. Not once would they give me a straight answer to a question or I would get we are sorry we are dealing with an overwhelming amount of complaints? Complaints about based badly behaved, incompetent, and poorly trained accountants. They train and certify them so if they have that many them, that tells you their training is not fit for purpose and their behavior and conduct throughout leads to me believe you cannot trust an ACCA CERTIFED ACCOUNTANT, as itself regulates itself and they are the ones who discredit the profession by their own unprofessional attitude.
I don't believe they serve the public interest and just letting someone pass themself off a certified accountant with a slap on the wrist is a joke. I even asked that the investigator be removed in my complaint about the service and that i lost faith in them as a regulating body, they ignored me and carried on, not even a reply or an apology, They don't serve the public interest they serve their own self-absorbed interest and the £100'm they rake in fees for their badly trained accountants. I am lucky I am insured against loss by my former accountants and legal action has started if she is found by a court of law that she was negligent, I wonder how the ACCA will explain how they didn't come to the same conclusion. so if you don't want to end up in a hospital than don't use an ACCA Accountant because should you complain your interests will not be served just their own.

I was a client of an ACCA accountant who lied and cheated me out of hundreds of pounds, and yet was exonerated by ACCA. A totally corrupt organisation. Avoid.

Very poor curtomer service peoe on the phone are not able to help with anything and the information found on the website are unclear and confusing I have only registered as student and dont like it already!

I wanted to enrol in ACCA but customer service is in India and it shows.

Eventually I decided not to register with ACCA and I requested they remove my personal details and passport that I added on their site, but they kept saying 3 times they hadn't received anything even though it was there on their very own site for me to view. It's really very embarrassing I have to try a 4th time to have my details removed.

horrible experience to deal with.. fees 4 times a year,for nothing in return,I was studying way back in March and each time I go to finalise my diploma more charges appear...I.A.T.I who I previously completed a degree with are much better to deal with,not a quarter of the fees and someone on the end of a phone,with transparency throughout..avoid if possible look at any other of the accounting bodies stay away from these!!!

ACCA is the worst company I have ever worked at. My line manager, Abdul, knew absolutely nothing and just had unrealistic expectations. He notoriously didn’t reply to my emails, didn’t provide the requested ACCA documentation and for months didn’t manage to ensure access to the basic tools I had to work with in ACCA. At the same time he gave me “to do” list with nearly 30 points on it.
The first task he gave me was to write a document that had to be complementary to ACCA global plan - a document which, contrary to what was stated in my objectives and what was explained to me by my line manager, hadn't been created. In the end I had to write twenty pages document without essential documentation.
When I asked about the possibility of shadowing a colleague holding the same position, I was informed by my line manager that another employee on the same position doesn’t hold the same duties and responsibilities as I do although the position is the same. What is more, I didn’t receive my payslips on payday while working in ACCA and had no insight to the way in which my salary was calculated. As ACCA didn’t reply to my payslip request, the company had to be aware that ACCA is not acting within the law.

ACCA , I been studying since last year which I took one subject MA and passed in my second attempt. The problem with ACCA they don't give you feedback for the exam which is taken. When you buy on demand test to practice you can't purchase another test because they will send you the same exam to practice. ACCA collecting more money by failing many student, any student would think to take the exam hoping they pass but with me twice faill Acca think student will keep paying as they don't have choice well I have decided to leave the course due to the nonsense of Acca exam question , no feedback and they charge more

ACCA - Unfair and non-transparent
Your examination script has now been fully reviewed and I can confirm that the result issued to you was indeed correct.

ACCA has a large number of stringent checks in place throughout both the marking procedure and processing of candidates' results to ensure that the final results issued are correct.

They do not provide you with a re-mark, I got 49% for my PM exams. I applied for an administrative review, it costs 52 GBP.

All they do for that exorbitant amount of money is add up your marks again.

Your exam paper becomes the property of ACCA.

For the PM exams, most of the marks are interpretation and analysis but they want to tell me that they cannot find even 1 mark that is relevant or worth a mark?

This has now happened twice. I felt confident after my paper and now this...

Its really bad experience i appeared for remote examination for diploma in IFRS but it was really a bad experience useless IT support huge que lot of waiting time to enter examination and there server always down at the time of examination they cant help students and post that give fee credit and drag students to reappear actually no respect for students effort and health justa word apologies

I have been studying for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification and sat my ACCA Exam in March 2021. I spent more than 5 months studying for this exam with many late nights and weekends, paid tuition and revision courses, time sacrificed over the Christmas festive period, in addition to annual and study leave taken from work, to ensure I was fully prepared.

I was informed by ACCA On 12th April 2021 that it was unable to issue a result for my exam due to an ‘isolated technical failure’ originating with one of its delivery partners. No further information was provided as to the cause of the technical failure and I subsequently complained to ACCA.

On 7th May 2021 ACCA issued its final response to my complaint, which consisted of an apology and a credit note of £130 to re-take my Taxation Exam with no other alternatives or compensations.

On the occasion of my exam on 2nd March 2021, I was assured by my invigilator that the initial technical issue that occurred had been resolved and that my exam could be launched and completely successfully. These assurances were repeated to me during the course of the examination.

I submitted a report of the technical issues I experienced on 2nd March straightaway to ACCA as a mitigating circumstance on the completion of the exam. I received no response to this and therefore I assumed all was well.

In view of the reliance now placed upon online tuition and examinations undertaken remotely, I think it is incumbent upon me to make future students and the wider public aware the incompetence of ACCA as a professional examination board in delivering exam and associated results to its students, and of its unfair treatment of its students when such failures occur.

Had I been aware that this set of circumstances could have come to pass, I would not have ventured to place my trust in ACCA as a competent professional examination board.

I strongly feel that I have been treated unfairly and that the response to my complaint is inadequate and incommensurate with the degree of failure on ACCA’s part.
