We need to give a shout-out to Maria Meyer in the A&K Downers Grove office. As this trip (Magna Carta Tour) was truly our first journey of this kind using an exclusive travel firm such as A&K, we are very happy to state that our trip exceeded all expectations we had and then some. Maria's guidance (and her associates who assisted when she was out of the office) and thoughtful, patient responses to all our silly questions only tended to confirm that we had hooked up with a real first-class outfit. We were not disappointed about anything, including the little details that could be annoying. We'll be back for sure before "our time runs out"!

When we got off our plane in Beijing we found at least two other couples with A&K baggage tags and assumed we would have to wait for a bus load of travelers to assemble for transport for to the hotel. Wrong. There was an escort and van for each group of travelers. This was but the first of many indications of the quality and comfort of this tour.

The experience began with working with Gabriela Zuniga in the UK office and continued with the superior tour director in China, Tim Tang.

The entire tour was carefully and comfortably organized. It was never rushed, however comprehensive, and many experiences were set into small groups which made them even more exceptional. Of particular note was an evening program of the history of the Three Kingdoms. It was spectacular and Tim's effort to get us there with front row seating was greatly appreciated.

Really good guides, drivers, cars and well organized trips

This was our first trip to Africa last October. Our Great Migration Safari exceeded our expectations. The 2 guides were superb,- so knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Each of the accommodations were so varied which added to the experienced. A&K's 2 Sanctuary Camps were the best of the best. the add-on week in Zanzibar relaxing and well-needed at the time.

I will never use anyone else but A&K. After 3 trips they have exceeded my expectations. Of course the accommodations and guides are first class, but if something goes off plan (eg., I lost something valuable), A&K takes over as my guardian angel. They always deliver. Worth more than the cost.

This was my first trip with A&K and my first time in India. The tour was well organized and although it would have been lovely to have had more time to spend in the magnificent Taj and Oberoi hotels, this trip was the best introduction to India. Our tour leader
Shagun was superb. She was attentive and knowledgeable. Anil was wonderful but could not continue with our tour. All the guides were excellent and well chosen. We covered alot of ground in the 14 days thanks to the excellent itinerary.
A&K literally took care of everything from our arrival in Mumbai to our departure from Delhi.
I have looked at some of the other trips A&K offer and some of the single supplement prices are very steep. This somewhat limits my choice of tours.
I would highly recommend A&K tours as they deliver what they promise.

I was on the small group trip starting with a pre-trip stop in Hong Kong continuing through China with the Yangtze River Cruise. Nancy was a real gem of a guide. She made sure we had a wonderful time, and it felt like we were in a dream with the immersion into art, culture, cuisine, history, and fun excursions along the way. I could not believe we were so privileged to be part of such an exceptional experience. The hotels and lodging were high end and lovely. The group was a perfect fit from the beginning, and I could not imagine being part of a better trip if I tried. Every day was an adventure, and it was wonderful to soak it in. I will be excited to be part of another group in the future. It was amazing. Thank you, Nancy and A & K, for a once in a lifetime adventure.

The wings over India was a fantastic trip. Having access to private planes solves so many inconveniences while traveling by air. The itinerary was magical and the small group was filled with interesting, passionate world travelers. It is a bit of a splurge, but we felt well rewarded for our investment.

Our trip to Morocco was extraordinary. Every thing was perfect from day one to the last day. We had a very professional guide (Hakim)and an excellent driver (Rachid), letting us to enjoy every minute of this trip. Hotels and camp in the desert were fabulous. It was an unforgettable experience. Don’t hesitate to book a trip with A&K !

We went on the Great Migration in Style and would score it a 5/5!
The two Tour Leader/Guides were great…attentive and knowledgeable.
The itinerary was perfect and A&K pivoted well during the political strife in Tanzania, disrupting our trip only minimally.
The accommodation was top drawer though I would say the Four Seasons (Serengeti) was over the top. They are maintaining their brand in the heart of Africa.
As a general comment, I would say Kenya and Tanzania are “overtravelled”.
In the Ngorongoro, we had 34 vehicles around one lion kill. It was a zoo…literally and figuratively! Most other areas were not as acutely abused…but both countries need to look at where they want to be in ten years.

A&K and in particular, our wonderful tour leader, Jason, did an amazing job introducing me to China. The country is so much different than I expected, the history, the food, and the experiences were all superb. Our leader exposed us to regional food specialties, arranged guides with local knowledge and at all times cared about our experience.
I do not understand the bad reviews on this site. I have now been on 4 tours with A&K and am booked for my 5th in March. I have had a wonderful experience with all of them and would not hesitate to recommend this company.
I travelled with my husband for the first two tours but have done the past two as a single after his passing. I wish the single supplement was lower, as it is with one of A&K's competitors.

Outstanding guide, thoughtful, itinerary, choice properties

We travelled with A & K to India in Nov 2024, after they refused to refund our payment for an Egypt tour, despite the advent of war in the Middle East, which impacted our itinerary. Whereas one expected excellence from this company, mediocrity and cynicism was our experience. Yes, one is accommodated (generally) in splendid hotels, but you are then left to confront the front desk, when you are allocated an inferior room type. This happened on a number of occasions, with no assistance offered by the tour director. Then the itinerary is chosen with little real concern for the interests of the group - eg only because we arrived a day early in Mumbai, were we able to arrange wonderful private tours of the awakening of the city - the newspaper deliveries, the flower and fish markets and Dharavi. Without that experience, we would have seen almost nothing of Mumbai. The so-called Panna Tiger Park is nothing more than a deer park, and one is given no opportunity to explore the streets and smells of Varanasi. Of course, there were good experiences, but a private tour arranged by one of the reputable local tour companies would be our preferred option. A & K is an over-priced mediocre option.

Australia/NZ, Booked by the US worldwide HQ team. The actual in country tour guide was very good and the itinerary, while not always high end luxury, was decent. The in country Australian team was responsive and did their best to recover from the horrible pre travel experience. The pre travel communications and responsiveness and service was non existent. A&K can no longer be considered high end luxury travel. Yet the price has the significant markup you sign up for in anticipation of a high end experience. Nickel and diming all along on excursions and drinks. We have never experienced this at this level of travel. Half of our “small group” had similar issues with the entire pre travel experience. Since this was managed by the US Chicago office, it is unlikely that it wouldn’t apply to other small group tours.

One thing they are on top of. They do invoice you asap. My sense is that the founder is gone and he took the soul and spirit of such a fine brand with him…or it just isn’t a priority for the current management.

Thank you to Ben at A&K for arranging such an amazing trip for us. Started off gorilla trekking in Rwanda then off to the Serengeti for some game viewing and were fortunate enough to see a river crossing and ended up in Zanzibar for a few days rest! Also took in a balloon ride over the Serengeti which would highly recommend.
From starting the discussion with Ben to confirming all the arrangements, he could not have been more professional, friendly and efficient and most importantly responsive. The company are very lucky to have him. Everywhere he recommended to stay was exactly what we wanted and unlike some tour operators he took the time to find out a bit about us and what we wanted and he matched everything perfectly.

I’ve just returned from a week long guided tour around Sri Lanka and it was one of the best holidays I have had. Margaret Fairbairn was our trip advisor and planner and the route and times she had arranged for us was absolutely perfect. From the very start she was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful and managed to plan our trip perfectly by listening and understanding what we wanted out of the trip.
