Avoid at all costs . Made a booking I had to cancel within hours of making the booking . Having to fight to get my money back . The Poor host of the property I was renting was unable to refund my money because of a technical problem with their site . One week later I am still waiting to get my money back .WHAT A TERRIBLE COMPANY !!!!
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. 8hr drive to house but on arrival no entry code provided so couldn't access property. On hold to VRBO for 2hrs. They didn’t know entry code but said they would refund me so we could get a hotel instead as kids were exhausted and crying and it was late at night by this point. Spent our holiday in a depressing premier inn instead of the nice cottage we had paid for. A month later, still no refund and VRBO keep telling me they’ll “get back to me about it” but are refusing to give any timescale. We have lost £440 on a property we never managed to access.
VRBO seems to be inept
I made a booking via VRBO and then had to cancel it, originating the request via VRBO, within the full refund window. The hosts were very nice and processed the refund, so no issue there. However for some weeks afterwards VRBO keeps sending emails asking how my holiday was and prompting me to fill in a survey. A bit disconcerting in this day and age that their IT system cannot handle keeping track of who has canceled bookings, but based on the reviews I see here it makes sense now. I'll avoid VRBO in the future, their entire business seems rocky, at best.
Absolute no support whatsoever
Have had many great stays with VRBO. However when you need help they don’t support you in any way. Booked a property in Sicily. On arrival the owner was really flustered and didn’t want to let me in. He then told me he had texted me to tell me that there was a problem with the water and I should be in a BNB down the road. I had never given him my details but he claimed he had WhatsApped me. The alternative accommodation was one room whereas I had booked a two bedroom apartment with kitchen, pool etc. Called and e-mailed VRBO but did nothing. Ended up booking alternative accommodation until I could access the property which I paid for. Owner would only refund part of what I lost claiming I gave him incorrect details when we had no contact. Lost over £300 but never had any response. Will never use them again. You pay a fee for ‘book with confidence’ which is total sham

A week in Jullouville
We booked a week in Jullouville. During the 5th day a forced burglary took place and apart from damage to the property certain valuable items of jewellery were stolen from my wife’s suitcase. The local police arrived promptly and undertook a thorough investigation. The owner eventually arrived and assured us that her insurance ( mandatory in Vrbo’s own contract ) would cover our loss. This turned out to be false as the owner had NOT complied to this clause and so we brought this to the attention of management within VRBO , spending hours on the telephone etc. We were given a refund for our visit but nothing for the value of items of stolen jewellery which were over several thousands of pounds! My wife was deeply upset as some of the items were part of an inheritance from her deceased mother. Apparently the owner deliberately ignored any further communication from VRBO as she realised that she had broken her contract as she only had insurance cover for her own property. Needless to say we shall never use Vrbo again and please take this as a warning for other potential users.

DO NOT TRUST ANY REVIEW ON VRBO WEBSITE
Utterly useless
Utterly useless, don't ruin your travel plans by using this scam of a site. They do absolutely no vetting of hosts, so the site is rife with scams, and they will do everything they can to not refund you when your plans get ruined.

The host took too long to come back & not really interested in dealing with such shoddy service, thanks. They're blaming Vrbo for technical error that should have been spotted earlier!
We tried to book 4 days, but apparently min of 6 allowed, so they just let booking expire, seems a blessing in disguise after reading other reviews!

Full of scammers & VRBO won't do anything. Property (beautiful 1 bedroom apartment) turns yo be a jet ski! 😂 When I told them, they said it's not our fault! I said really? So I'll take some nice photo of any apartment from a magazine & put them up on your site & it's not your problem? & Take people's money, ruin their holiday & worse, possibly put them on the streets?
Even worse,they won't take the property off their site & also KNOW previously it was cancelled several times! I wonder 🤔
Nightmare. Fortunately we found somewhere otherwise we were in dangerous streets all night.
Plus told me yesterday the contract is with you & the host (who never replies not even to VRBO). Contacted a legal team to get my money back.
Do not use this company
My son booked his post A level holiday through Expedia/Vrbo and the host double booked his accommodation, therefore he obviously requested a refund. The host was for some reason not able to cancel the booking and therefore my son didn't receive a refund. It has taken 6 weeks of very long frustrating phone calls to finally receive his refund. The customer service centre is totally ineffectual and statements like 'the technical team is looking into it' and 'it is with the refund team and we can't now do anything else' were bandied around during that time. Absolutely ineffectual and unethical, they kept my son's money for 6 1/2 weeks so he couldn't book anywhere else. Don't use them and don't expect them to sort out your problems, because they won't. I'm disgusted.

We booked Cwmllan, just listed as Charming Cottage near Newport in Pembrokeshire for a 7 day break for Saturday, 25th May 2024. The cottage was dreadful, mice, broken windows, dirty, appliances not working properly, Health n Safety issues, therefore, we stayed one night (as long journey home, and nowhere else to stay), emailed the host at 6.00 am Sunday morning, to say what we had found and were leaving and asked for a full refund. She mailed me on our way home with less than half of the price offered as refund. Once home, I mailed back and said not acceptable, I want a full re-fund so was complaining within the 24 hours to VRBO. I phoned their customer services on 0800 032 5622, they told me she had put another amount back into my account, leaving a deficit of 89.00. I said I wanted the full amount. The guy from VRBO was brilliant, sent me a link, we uploaded the photos that we had taken of the state of the property, he contacted the host, and as of the 27th, Monday, we had our full refund back on my card. The Host cancelled the booking however, meaning that I cannot leave a review on their site, hence the 3 stars.

When I first saw a house on Vrbo's website, I thought, wow, that is a stunning house, perfect for the family holiday we’d been trying to get booked since before the lockdown. It was a perfect Christmas surprise for my whole family who started planning what they were going to do when we got there on a Saturday in August 2024 for the week, packing up on the Friday evening to leave the following morning after breakfast, as it stated on our booking from Vrbo.
Fast forward to 15th March, when I received a call from a lady at Habitat Escapes, on behalf of the house owner, who told me not to panic as there were solutions; the host didn’t want a Sat to Sat, but would do Fri to Fri, would this be okay. No, it wouldn’t, because we were all working on the Friday, (7 adults) and there was no chance of us getting down to Devon after 5pm from Lincolnshire on a Friday night with two children. Or, she suggested a different property (which wasn’t yet finished), or go down on the Saturday and leave on the Friday, which we eventually decided on, with the refund for the one missing day.
Several days later she called back saying the host was offering a third of the price of the 'lost' Friday back, I said absolutely not, that was an insult, another offer came through, two thirds of the price back. No! We are making it easier for the owner, so therefore, they owe us the full day’s money back, they changed the contract, we didn’t!
I was told her manager would call me the following week, Easter week. The call never came, but when relaxing after work on Thursday evening (the evening before Good Friday), an email came through that said the host has cancelled our holiday, no warning, completely out of the blue, cancelled!
So onto Vrbo website, couldn’t find anything about refunds. And so the wait started for a refund, nothing came through the first week, then nothing the second week, so our daughter began querying, calling the company who looks after the property, several phone calls and emails going through, offering a £100 voucher for a future stay there (no thank you), and your refund will be in your account either tonight or tomorrow. So we waited and checked the bank, and waited and checked, STILL nothing!
In the end, we sent an email giving them a deadline for refunding the money otherwise a solicitor would be getting in touch with them claiming compensation on top of the full refund.
Strangely, it came though late that same day.
All of this, because we just wanted a full refund for the one day we would miss. We now have to try to find somewhere else to host us during that week, so we can get our very long awaited family holiday.

I STRONGLY ADVISE ANYONE NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY - WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD.
I looked at accommodation in Portugal for TWO NIGHTS, costing around 140 Euros. I didn't book or make card payment, but clicked on a "find out more" button, saw some more info, but didn't book or make credit card payment.
Since then I have had 3 emails requiring payment for eventually up to more than 700 EUROS. I had several phone calls and each time was told it was their standard practice, before eventually I got an email saying I didn't have to take any action, as, if I hadn't paid it the booking would simply lapse.
I AM VERY CONCERNED REGARDING THE EFFECT SUCH BEHAVIOUR MIGHT HAVE ON MORE VULNERABLE PEOPLE.
I am myself a pensioner, and it was very upsetting but at least I am not stupid enough to be harassed into making payments that are not due or justified.
Heaven help anyone who has actually made payments to this company then had problems!.

I tried to use the service when the first customer booked for 2 weeks my property. I was unable to reiceve payment because my account was locked and no option available to change or select new bank acocunt. It ended to be an useless service and never been able to receive payments therefore money are kept by VRBO and they do not provide support or solution on how to get paid on a different account (they just read procedures that does not fit with reality), and finance team, who should update your bank details, simply does not exist in this "company". Very poor quality website, full of bugs, customer service not solving technical issues and escalation team not responding to open tickets ...
Most of employees should be fired ( starting from high level management/ directorate levels) to being unable to solve issues, today you lost 1 customer (who ha been informed by me that your platform does not manage payment properly) + 1 property owner
This is the worst platform in terms of support and the most expensive in terms of commissions.

Blue heaven villa aruba rented from vrbo. Description states hot tub but there isn't one. Broken lights outside the property, pool pump not working properly, outside shower broken, hose reel broken, barbecue filthy, beds were not put together properly, we had workmen coming in for most of our stay and had to wait in for them as they were not allowed to have the gate code, broken kitchen blind, broken overhang above kitchen door which now has iguanas living in there,ensuite showers smell of damp and drains. Villa situated on a very busy, noisy road with motorbikes, quad bikes and heavy lorries thundering up and down 24/7. Management are trying their best to resolve issues but owner seems reluctant to spend funds required to bring this property up to the level he is charging guests and he doesn't discount for long term rentals.
Holiday double booked!
Booking for holiday confirmed and paid in full. Owner wrote back saying apartment already booked and not available. 2 emails requesting refund ignored, so have cancelled booking but 5 to 7 days delay in repaying even if they meet promise. First time using VRBO and last. Usually use booking.com and with over 100 bookings never has similar problem.
