This was the worst experience ever

This was the worst experience I have ever had with renting a car. The hubcap on a poorly maintained vehicle came off whilst driving in the tunnel nearly causing an accident. They charged me nearly $300 to replace a hubcap. They then charged $500 additional excess for the damage the hubcap caused. The hubcap was only attached by a cable tie but we did not realise this when picking up the car. The customer service was appalling. Never again. Do not use Uber car share.

Reviewing as an owner.

Firstly DO NOT PUT YOUR CAR WITH UBER CAR SHARE

Zero responsibility and zero accountability.

Good funking luck trying to make a claim wirh any damage or compensation.

Here are a few scenarios/experience I had.

I always do my due diligence after every single rental. After one particular rental I noticed one of the latch was broken (interior part). Made a claim for damage and was declined because borrowers are not required to take photos of interior and because they didn't and there's no proof for me claim and regarded as wear and tear!

So basically they can trash your interior and damage any parts including steering wheel or entertainment unit etc and won't be borrowers responsibly nor uber!
There's a big loophole. A bunch of Crooks.

Stay the hell away.

I have more bad experiences other than this.

False advertising and refusing to refund

They falsely advertised a vehicle to be in working condition and serviced. It broke down and they confirmed it has not been serviced in a long time which wasted 1 day for me. I hired a 2nd car for the next day, against falsely advertised to come with a lockbox for self check-in/out. When I tried returning the keys, the owner did not pick up and I couldn't leave the keys in the car in fear it would be stolen. So they charged me 6 extra days of rental + a late return fee and refuse to refund me even though this situation was completely created by their false advertising and failure to deliver service as expected. It is ridiculous they are intentionally advertising for service they cannot provide. Support has stopped responding to me and I will be following up with the appropriate authorities, I will get my refund and this will be reported and escalated for predatory behaviour towards customers.

CRIMINALS

I rented a
van out for 1.5hrs 2 weeks ago, collected 1 item, dropped it off and drove vehicle back.
A couple days later uber hit me with a $500+ fine for damage to roof of the van.
In the pictures I uploaded I wasn't able to take pictures of the roof of the van due to it being over 2.3m tall.

I then got some photos emailed to me with the kms driven, they told me I was the last one to drive the vehicle yet it had done an extra 95km from when I dropped it off which I actually have photo evidence off.

Even at that they chose to ignore this in the email I sent.
I also had google maps on which was tracking everywhere I went in the couple kms I travelled.

I'm still so shocked about the situation, it's the first time I have ever been scammed and it's a horrible feeling.

Please stay away from these criminals

Uber permanently blocked my account…

Uber permanently blocked my account from driving for them because someone stole my identity off they website and started doing uber eats in my name. Once I sent necessary documents proving I was who I say I was… they still decided to permanently blocked my account. I think this is insane and they have to do better with their onboarding process.

Disappointed by the lack of integrity in accurately displaying available cars on the app and inadequacy of compensation

I deeply regret having to recount such a disappointing experience with Uber Carshare. My partner and I had meticulously planned a much-needed romantic day, investing not just financially but also sacrificing work days and hiring childcare to ensure a smooth, enjoyable outing.

However, what awaited us was a sequence of frustrating events that completely shattered our plans. Despite booking a convertible through the Uber Carshare app, upon arriving at the designated property, we were met with an unresponsive owner, who neither answered the phone nor acknowledged our presence at their doorstep. This lack of professionalism and unavailability of the promised service left us stranded.

Seeking assistance from Uber's customer support, we encountered further disillusionment. Despite the cancellation of our initial booking and the provision of a mere $40 credit as compensation, our subsequent attempt to rebook a different car only led to another dead end. The second property we arrived at revealed that the car had been reported as unserviceable due to prior damage, information that Uber Carshare failed to communicate to us accurately.

After spending considerable time on the phone with customer support for the second cancellation, we were offered a paltry compensation of $50, utterly insufficient to cover the costs we incurred due to missed commitments, including a significant $150 loss due to missing our scheduled lunchtime appointment.

The pinnacle of frustration was reached when, in a plea for adequate compensation and to speak with a supervisor, we were bluntly informed that no supervisor was available to address our concerns. This dismissive attitude toward our justified request for appropriate compensation compounded our disappointment.

The lack of integrity in accurately displaying available cars on the app and the subsequent miscommunication, coupled with the inadequacy of compensation and the unavailability of managerial support, left us utterly disillusioned with Uber Carshare. Our day of anticipation and excitement turned into a chaotic and disheartening ordeal, leaving us hoping for a reasonable resolution to acknowledge the significant inconvenience and financial loss we endured due to Uber Carshare's shortcomings.

Appalling customer service: beware!!

This company is perpetrating an absolute scam on the Australian public reminiscent of the Robodebt scandal. They take thousands of dollars out of your account on the last minute claim of the vehicle owner without any real attempt to verify the claim even in a prima facia manner. Then they refuse to speak with you directly, hiding behind emailed proforma responses that fail to answer even the most basic questions viz what IS the damage it's alleged I caused?
People should've exposing them to the media via A Current Affair etc Nothing else will make them reconsider their shonky business practices.

Absolute rip off.

Absolute rip off.. so expensive. They charge you for petrol which makes no sense, considering you are the 1 who pays for the petrol. So for instance if you have a car for two weeks you will pay an up front fee and you might put $200 worth of petrol in the car but they charge you on top of the normal daily rental fee, a fee for every km drove so you might pay another $800 on top of that for 'petrol'. The customer service team is shocking aswell. Very slow to get back to you. I've been overcharged and am still waiting on a reply days later.

Had a little accident with the car

Had a little accident with the car, 2 little dents on the side of the van, cost $3890 AUD to repair.... hopefully they only can deduct $2000 from me but still what the hell???

I rented a car that had a flat battery and was blamed for it and charged money when I did nothing wrong! SCAM!

I rented a car that had a flat battery and I ended up just using my own jump starter to get it going because I am so sick of their cars not working or not having a lockbox. I was blamed for the flat battery and charged $100 dollars. They provided battery voltage reports showing the battery was fine. Luckily for me I always film the cars starting up to make sure they work and no lights are on they can blame me for. The battery was DEAD! I have time and date evidence of the video I took which was in the 15 minutes before the trip even started.

SO lets break it down...

1. Providing false/incorrect battery voltage information.

2. Discounting the fact that I provided private feedback to the owner after the hire that it is dead.

3. Blamed me without any evidence that I left anything on to flatten the battery for the next person.

This company is a dodgy, untrustworthy scam business and the best you get to resolve it is fools in the Philippines.

Currently not resolved and I am ready to fight hard.

Do not use this service as it is too risky and most of the cars are bombs.

Not trustworthy, shabby service

Not trustworthy. I heard this company offered cheaper rentals, but I still felt uneasy uploading so many private documents, which I regret now. They rejected my application, probably because I have a Japanese license or I am a foreigner. It took two complete days of scanning in documents and translating them, and then they just rejected it without any explanation whatsoever. If they don't accept foreign drivers licenses, they should say so in the first place. It would have saved me a lot of time. For tourists, I would strongly recommend an established car rental agency.

Security issue

We had our car rented and it got returned after 3 days from the actual day it was suppose to be returned. Uber car share went ahead and completed the trip prior us actually getting the car to us. And the car was missed creating security issues on me which i can not go in to details.. now almost 1/2 month gone Uber car share did nothing. This platform does not look after owner interest and safety. Very risky to rent cars

Terrible company and pathetic owner service. The company has over 10,000 outstanding zendesk tickets and owes me a significant amount of unpaid insurance which was already approved. Don’t waste your time or money. Avoid at all costs.

We've been scammed by this company. We will not hire car with them anymore. They are so scary, you will be shock that they will charge you again after 3months of using their car. Don't try it anymore.

Multiple complaints about sexual and verbal assault, and this driver still hasn't been banned from driving for Uber in Sydney CBD, disgusting. Don't get in the car if he's assigned to you.

Writing the review as a lender

Writing the review as a lender. I signed up my car for borrowing but then had to cancel it because of some damage to car. In the meantime, uber carshare sent me the starter kit. I sent multiple emails to no response for two weeks. The customer care sent an email saying that its been over three weeks and charged me $530. Customer support is very poor from these guys.
