I went with my partner as surprise date idea, we both had such a good time!
Very excited to pick up our pots in a couple of weeks.
Funny instructor, fast paced great experience! Will definitely come again!
Had a good time, it was a funny hands on experience!
Great experience, very interactive and staff available to assist and guide you through the process. Would definitely recommend this pottery class to others.
Had a great time making my pot - loved learning to throw and shape and glaze. Thanks for having me
Such a fun experience, had so much fun - really great staff & highly recommend
A brilliant way to learn how to make a pot!
I had a great experience at Token studio. The session was well organised and the instructor was very helpful and gave clear to follow instructions but also enough freedom to make the pottery I wanted. Would def recommend!
Booked the BYOB pottery class through Groupon, expecting a fun, creative activity like the listing promised. It was anything but.
The venue was run-down, the staff weren’t friendly or helpful, and we were left waiting around with no direction. The class was messy, chaotic, and hard to follow — the instructor was barely audible and difficult to understand. There was no real teaching, just rushed instructions and staff doing most of it for us.
The hygiene was shocking. We were told to wash our hands in a cold, dirty bucket of clay water and dry them with soaking wet towels — no soap, no proper facilities. I ended up getting sick after the class.
The decorating stage was just as bad: not enough tools, watered-down paint, and no guidance. Staff disappeared halfway through, and no one explained what to do next. We ended up leaving completely frustrated and disappointed.
This is a BYOB class - you would expect them to have/supply cups...nope! Can't even get that simple task right. Thankfully, we brought our own.
Not worth the money, not enjoyable, and definitely not “enriching.” Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
I paid £10 extra, booked twice to collect my pottery and paid £10 it was cancelled a day before I was told the pottery is still being glazed they could not find it. Same thing booked cancelled and I called over x20 calls and not answered. Extremely unprofessional and I did not get my pottery which I had a pottery class on my birthday so you've taken 10 pounds and not giving me my pottery. Absolutely unprofessional and disgusting behaviour. Shame on you!
we arrive 15mins early, there was no one available to help us or sign in. we then waited while others arrived so the same session (we did the pottery painting). we started 15mins late - the women running the session said about 3 sentences and told us to pick from the very limited available items to paint (they had run out of many of the options) before disappearing for the rest of the session. The paints available were heavily watered down. No one explained the process of layering different colours. there are much better pottery painting cafes in london and i would not recommend this one!
This pottery class was a complete waste of time and money. From start to finish, the experience felt rushed, impersonal, and nothing like what was advertised.
The instructor was rude, spoke too fast with a strong accent that was difficult to understand, and instead of actually teaching, he would just correct mistakes himself without explaining anything. Several of us felt frustrated and confused throughout the process.
The class was poorly structured. We were essentially left on our own for the last two stages, with little to no support. The pottery was still wet even after using the microwave, and the cheap, watery paint made things even worse.
The studio itself was freezing, with ice-cold water in the taps. We were told to wash our hands in a filthy bucket of water that had been reused all day, with no fresh water provided. The towel to dry our hands was soaking wet and dirty. Hygiene was clearly not a priority here.
To top it off, they charge an extra £10 for glazing, which is not worth it. But if u don't then you end up taking a wet pottery home. When it was time to paint, we were rushed because the next session needed the space. No customer service, no proper goodbye—just a dismissive attitude.
Overall, a terrible experience. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers and provides proper instruction.
We have been unable to use our vouchers, despite multiple efforts to book a session, and turning up in person at a time we knew there was spaces. Staff can’t or won’t help, telephone not answered, and groupon also not helpful. Please save your time and money by avoiding!
We don’t live in London, so tried to book in advance- it’s just too complex with so many stages -I don’t know how I managed an online MSc but can’t book a pottery class!

Even with the Groupon voucher it wasn’t remotely worth the money. We paid £50 (half price) for 2 people, the venue was freezing cold, the ‘instructor’ had such a strong accent and rushed through the ‘script’ so quickly we couldn’t understand him. He seemed totally bored and disinterested, not remotely the fun, arty experience we had hoped for. The piece of clay was tiny so it was difficult to make a pot, more like an ashtray, and the instructor took over to make it better rather than giving us an opportunity to try any more. It felt like we had only a few minutes on the potters wheel. We then painted with the runniest paint ever. If you don’t pay £10 extra each to have the pot glazed you get a thin paper bag to take it home in. So mine was broken and squashed and went in the bin. I paid for my daughter’s to be glazed but the booking procedure for collection wasn’t great and you need to do that at least 8 days before collection so I wasn’t able to go on the one day I was going into London as I tried to book 6 days in advance and there was no reply to several emails trying to arrange this. So I had to make a special 3 hr round trip to collect one tiny pot as my daughter really wanted it as she’d added a little cat figure of our cat who’d died. Even though she’d layered lots of coats of paint it made barely any difference as it was so watery. It was far too much money for what it was and the booking and collection methods are time consuming and overly complicated with seemingly no way to actually speak to anyone there. Go to your cheaper local pottery painting shop and have a better much cheaper time.
ADDITION - Token studio replied to this review with lies. Yes when you email them you get an automated reply with the option to book a collection at least 8 days away. My issue was that I wanted to collect it in 6 days but they ignored my emails asking if there was any way I could arrange that. I therefore had no choice but to book for a later date and go to a lot of trouble to collect it. There is no way to speak to someone to get any assistance. The fact that they lied and said I was attempting to book collection for the next day speaks volumes about the integrity of their company and maybe the rude person who writes long insulting responses to reviews could spend more time looking at emails and offering some sort of customer service to help their customers.
EDIT. Don’t say someone is being racist because they said they didn’t understand what someone was saying because they spoke very quickly with a strong accent? That is just a truthful fact, not a judgement on the person’s race.

I had a disappointing experience at Token Studios due to poor customer service and inconsistent policies. I was running late for a class due to an emergency and attempted to call the studio multiple times, but no one answered. Upon arrival at 2:12 PM, the receptionist informed me that latecomers within 15 minutes could still join the class. However, the pottery instructor immediately refused and insisted we reschedule, stating that he would have to start from scratch.
What made this more frustrating was that another couple, also late, was allowed to join after the class had begun. When I questioned this inconsistency, I was given a vague explanation that one of them had checked in earlier—yet that reasoning didn’t add up since their pottery still needed to be started from scratch.
The instructor, Jos (if I recall correctly), was extremely rude and dismissive. He cut me off mid-sentence, leaving no room for me to explain my situation. His attitude was unprofessional and completely lacking in basic courtesy.
Overall, Token Studios provided an unpleasant and unfair experience. Their inconsistent policy, unhelpful staff, and poor customer service make it a place I cannot recommend. Your time and money are better spent elsewhere.
terrible experience - dont recommend
Went here as a christmas gift and expected a few hours of fun and learning a new expereince. YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER! They want you in and off of the wheel as quick as possible, as the next group a queing up behind you. Once you're off the wheel with a basic pot shape, they dump you in an area at the back with some carving tools and some paints with very little explaination.
Next up they tell you its extra money if you want your piece fired and you need to collect it within 60 days.
here's the kicker.... we both paid the extra cash, took photos of the items and when i went to collect, mine had clearly been dropped and had a totally different paint colour on the side of it. When i asked about getting a refund for the firing fee it was l talking to a wall. They couldn't care less about it and they already had my money.
I'd avaoid this place at all costs and go and find a better one where the owners want to spend time and teach you some basic skills and to give you something you remember to take away.
You won't learn much. It's very in and out. However I had a great time. It was a lot of fun.
