Tax refund £600+ - I received £119 - Bargain ? - Not really ( But better than nothing)

They are incompetent. I ended up with a tax bill from HMRC as in fact I had (unbeknown to me) underpaid tax on my PPI payment. They should have known this from the info I gave them.

Because 0 stars not possible.

Robbers! I had a letter from HMRC saying I had a tax refund but the cheque was sent to these people for 379£ I recieved 197£ !!
Why are HMRC using these thieves?

I was awarded a refund of £1,072, of which I received £520.49!!! only to receive a letter from HMRC to say I had been overpaid and have to payback £477.66. Got no joy from Then Tax Refunds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I had read these reports before I had used these robbing people ,nowhere on the site does it say they will take half your payout in fees .surely this cannot be right ,I'm contacting the ombudsman to see if I can do anything about this atrocious company

I got a letter from tax people that they owed me over _£600.00 on my ppi which I got then tax to file the application for me I get email from them to stated £103 will be paided to me in which I fill the payment link and received the money with 48percent taken for their fees. So where is the rest of the money.

I will be lodging a complaint to financial ombudsman commission and fair trading standards and tax department to investigate where the rest of my money from the ppi is gone. It's a day light robbery .

Asked for my bank details on 25th September refund in my bank on 26th. An expensive exercise but I chose to use them and they came through.

Unfortunately my wife has dealt with this company and as all others has stated it takes a 49% commission on your claim. The thing I don't get if this money is owned by the tax office due to an overpayment why arent they paying it they are quick to contact you if you've not paid enough tax.
AVOID THEN TAX REFUND.

Asked for all my information in March and I've not heard a word since. Now I'm concerned what they are doing with all my personal information. I only responded to them as I was lead to believe they were part of Allay claims who managed to get my PPI back in the first place. May as well have not bothered if Then Tax are going to keep my refund!

Never asked for them to claim for me but said I was owed about £400 ,asked for bank details to pay half of the money but haven’t given me a penny. I can’t understand how they can claim money off HMRC without my consent and then keep all the money

I'm actually experincing my ordeal with then tax currently.
Apparently they claimed tax of £1674
on my pip refund without my knowledge and are offering me only £837. Which means they are charging me half of the refund as their fees.
This is absolutely outrageous.
They are also asking me for my bank details to transfer the £837 which I'm not happy to do.
Can they really do this?
Claim tax owed to me by Hmrc and then charge me half the money refunded as their fees. This really doesn't sound right on many angles.
They keep sending me e-mails to forward my bank details.

They are a company that rob you, I really don’t know how these companies are allowed to operate, I’ve worked hard for years and these lot have took over half of my owed tax without me even knowing, surely this is illegal!!

This company said they were going to claim back tax i have paid from PPI, however they have not , they have claimed back TAX I have overpaid from previous years and then taken half of that about!!! This company is a joke and I seek to get this money back and make a formal complaint to the HMRC and any other body I can about them. I will seek now to make sure this company do not do this again to anyone else!!!

They will take nearly 50% in fees. Do it yourself or get a company with morals to do it for you. If you could see what little they actually have to do to claim your refund, and what they charge you, you will be horrified. You are a cash cow to them.

What a terrible unscrupulous bunch Then Tax are. In November 2022 they contacted me asking if I wanted them to look into PPI tax refund based on a PPI payout in 2019. Okay, why not. Success. I had money owing from HMRC, £200.... yes of course they'll take a commission. No problem. But HMRC make an error, they pay Then Tax £200 from the PPI tax refund PLUS my tax owed to me by HMRC from 2022/23 another £800. Total £1000. Then Tax take their 50 or so % commission. I call HMRC, they confirm its their error but ask me to chase with Then Tax sending them a copy of P800. Do Then Tax admit and understand the error? Hell no. They say "tough" put in a complaint with HMRC. Absolutely scandalous. Go nowhere near this company.

They made a fraudulent claim on behalf of my partner, and now trying to get me to send my bank details, and want 48%, we never asked them to make a claim on our behalf, but don't know how to go about getting it sent back to hmrc

I literally received just under £500 for a PPI tax refund ( I was informed by HMRC of the amount). Then.tax took half of that 😳. I will never use them or any other company again. Better off doing it yourself. Lessen learnt 😳

I have not received any payment from a successful PPI tax claim, several months after notification by HMRC. when I queried this the company said they would send a link to a claim form. This did not happen.

Was pushed on to me by old PPI claim company. Dutifully filled out form. Heard nothing for six months. Now owe inland revenue money! Good job Then.tax. Good job! At least living up to your name. Claim....then taxed! Avoid, avoid, avoid.
