I received a notification the other day about my contract expiring with Tepilo. However, I would like to lodge a complaint to raise all the issues I have encountered andthe poor service I have received over the many months. Afterall my flat did not sell with Tepil, they decided to take my fees off me (1045) as no effort was made:

1) Pre-sales service from the Account Manager was appalling – I notified the account manager that I didn’t want to sell until a month or so. Even though I told him this, the frequent daily calls , cold calling and not listening to my needs as a customer was completely below the belt. I wasn’t even allowed to rearrange photography times, an example of this was when a photographer wanted to come and take photos. However, I had a health issue and wanted to re-arrange. I was told that I would have to pay a hefty ‘re-arrangement’ fee. How appalling and inhumane is that?

2) Overpricing my flat – Even though I was exploring alternatives with other agents, Tepilo offered me a higher price than competitors and high street agents. Tepilo offered me a higher price but they then changed their mind and told me my flat was worth less to attract ‘buyers’ . It seems that this used to get me to sign up and get a contract with you. Clever market technique hey?

3) No viewings at all – As a seller, I expected my flat to at least have a viewing a week. However NO EFFORT was made. I had no enquiries or a single viewing for my flat.

4) Hardly received updates – I was never kept in the loop as I had to physically phone up and ask for updates. In reality, this was not great as I had an expectation of being kept updated on the progress of my flat and it could have been sold a lot sooner.

5) Cancellation delayed – I phoned up in mid-September to cancel my contract with Tepilo. However I didn’t get any correspondence until 4th November. How come it has taken this long to come back to me?

I was pestered into listing before I wanted to, without being told the length of listing. I was under the impression it was listed until sold, then after paying my money, told it was 10 months a few days later. The man extended this because that was not listed on the package details on the site and I was not told by him AND I had specifically said I didn’t want to list until September and he insisted it go on in August.

After this happened, the photos were taken and the layout done. The layout is actually incorrect. I was told my photos were ready to be viewed but was unable to view them until I messaged complaining and then they appeared.

I clicked for my sale to go live in September and it was not approved for two weeks, which defeats the purpose of listing with an online agent where you supposedly have control. It would also not allow me to upload my energy report.

I then tried to log in to my account a week ago and couldn’t. I have changed my password several times to try again and no luck. I then go on Zoopla to find my property and see it is now listed with emoov!

At no point have I been told about the change in company, I cannot access my portal to update availability or check for messages (not that I’ve had a single enquiry and I even tried to email myself via the listing at one point and didn’t receive it!) and I want a full refund because I am not and have not received the service I paid for.

I am very upset, especially as I listed due to recommendation.

Terrible I have two houses for sale and Tepilo have them showing on Rightmove in the wrong location, three times I have phoned to complain about this and nothing has changed.
I have also had viewers tell me that when they tried to make an appointment through Tepilo to view they have never heard anything back.
I am thinking of taking legal action against them

Worst company going,buyers can’t get hold of anyone at Tepilo,and us as sellers can’t get hold of anyone at Tepilo,we’ve had people turn up on the off chance, to see if they could look round,as they haven’t been able to get a response for Tepilo,we have also had people contact Romans estate agents as they had no joy with Tepilo,and we’ve tryed to contact them no one answers the phone,you call head office to be I’ve the person dealing with your property has left the company ,or they are on holiday,they just take your money,and that’s all they are interested in,

Very disappointing to say the least. Very poor communication with all concerned with the sale of my property. The buyer was contacting me personally because no one at tepilo would help her with her enquires. I had the premium package that should’ve helped me every step of the way! she eventually pulled out of the sale, and tepilo had no idea what was going on. And now they are charging me £1500 for the lack of help and support.
When you need them they cannot be found, there is no one consistent to talk to.

Struggling to even book a viewing never mind buy a house,great work Tepilo!!!

Complete waste of money. They only contacted me to let me know my adviser was on holiday. I responded that I would hardly notice the difference and then was contacted. When I did get an offer, they left me to negotiate with the buyer and did not attempt to assist at any stage. I am at a loss to understand exactly what I am paying £822 for. Useless bunch of incompetents.

Horrible experience
Before offer: the agent asked me if i want to put an offer, i said i will get back to her, she then went and submitted it without my confirmation.
Later, after offer: I asked for a quote from their solicitors. Without any instruction from us,they assigned us to their solicitor and sent the memorandum of sale for us to find out that both us and the seller were using the same solicitor (conflict of interest!!)
During the exchange and completion: There was never a hand over to sales progression team. I never ever had their direct details.
Mervin from sales progression called me once when there was a problem raised by seller, and then disappeared again, and he never ever replied to any of my messages and calls.

I know they are cheap, but they literally disappear after you put an offer. if you have any issues with the other part, they are simply not there to help and support the conversation.

Tepilo are beyond useless and an absolute disgrace. We have been unfortunate enough to purchase a house through them- never again. From the beginning they didn’t pass on information between the vendor and ourselves. Haven’t responded to emails or telephone calls through our Estate Agents. I was advised to call them to tie up the final week before moving and again no returned phone call (funny how the appropriate person is never there when you phone) and no return email. I have no respect for Sarah Beeny putting her name to the worst company I have ever dealt with. Absolutely shocking, oh and if you’re still contemplating using them, save the money and do it by yourself because that’s what you have to do anyway

Avoid as Tepilo's adverts are misleading as they don't carry out what they say they will do.

Ooh it's so tempting, so so tempting to sign up with this company. My advice is resist, DONT do it. They are amazing at signing you up quickly,taking your money and doing absolutely nothing other than listing.Save yourself the fee and list it with several online agencies and save yourself the money, as they do no more.I cannot tell how many unanswered emails and unanswered calls I have had its horrendous communication is appalling & do not expect any proactive assistance in selling your property, it wont happen.

I’m so angry with the service. I used Tepilo a few years ago and it was brilliant, what has happened? No one calls me back, my house is incorrectly listed (2 emails and 5 calls and it’s still on at the wrong price?!). I’m really fed up, please can someone contact me and please can you correctly price my house on Rightmove!

It’s a pity you can not give no stars.
We signed up, paid money for unlimited viewings and for sale board.
A. Viewing booked but Tepilo had not bothered to get keys so it was cancelled. After many phone calls, keys finally collected.
B. 5 weeks later there is no for sale sign outside house. I am constantly chasing this up.
C. Numerous phone calls, requesting call backs which do not happen.
D. Property negotiator is meant to contact every 10-14 days, I again chased this up.
This company has just caused stress. It trades on Sarah Beeney’s name, I would be ashamed to have so many poor reviews if I had this company. It’s an absolute disgrace. Truly wished we had gone elsewhere.

I was unsure if this was a real company due to lack of response, lack of anything really. I am absolutely staggered they are still in business but I guess it's gaining business on the back of the name of Sarah Beeny. Sarah do you read these reviews? Appauling company. I certainly would never sell with them and as for purchasing ..... well if I actually get a response from telephone calls, emails and online viewing appointments I may get to see this house. It's been 3 months now and the poor vendors house is still for sale & I am still attempting to view it. Time to visit the vendor I think and advise them to change the agents.

I would not advise going with Tepilo…
Trying to get hold of any customer adviser/ Allotted Team member is impossible. They take at least 4 days to reply to your phone-call.
We are thankfully not in a hurry to sell our house ...if we were I would be pulling my hair out. The few staff that I have had contact with have very little knowledge of the property market. If you are serious about selling your house I advise you to go with an established estate agent who can provide a dedicated service and proactively sell your house.
The minute you pay these guys they've done their job, got their commission and are no longer interested in helping you!

A good place to start this review is by confirming we sold our flat by listing with Tepilo. However the overall service and experience was below expectation. For this review to be fair I think it’s important for the reader to understand why we choose an online estate agent.

Firstly, we were selling a 1 bedroom flat in the centre of Milton Keynes. My opinion was this is a very bespoke target audience which shouldn’t need a high street estate agent to proactively sell and market, basically you either want a 1 bed flat or you don’t.
The opposite can be said for houses which i believe needs a local high street estate agent to proactively recommend areas or houses which you may initially think are not suitable etc.
Therefore simply using Tepilo to get the flat on rightmove for the world to see seemed the sensible and logical thing to do.

Secondly, the price. £650 fixed is as cheap as you’ll find. The only reason i choose Tepilo opposed to purple bricks etc was because of Sarah bennie being a recognisable figure from property tv shows.

So yes, we sold after a few months on the market. But the service was non-existent thereafter. My buyer was an investor from Dubai which had its own complications. Complications that needed a dialogue between them, me and him, however I had no support from Tepilo.
We have since completed and Tepilo have failed to acknowledge this - I’m pretty sure I am forgotten about as they have not attempted to contact me for 3/4 months since the confirmation of sale during which time we had complications his side with bank account openings, and my side with probate.

This is where their services fall short. Yes they enabled me to sell
Via rightmove but did nothing thereafter. I personally wouldn’t recommend or use their service again.

The people we were buying from used a high street estate agent and they were fantastic with keeping me updated and proactively chasing solicitors which is always a pain. They basically show cased why high street estate have the Edge as you can have confidence you are being managed by a local branch. Not a national branch with Tepilo and the rest.

Moral of the review. You save money but they don’t make your life any easier in a process which inevitably has its stresses.

Avoid Tepilo at all cost. You pay upfront and although the photos of your property are done well, the service is atrocious I waited four days for a response about a viewing and was finally told the prospective buyer did not turn up and they have not been able to contact them since. Total waste of money and my time BE WARNED.

We feel like we have wasted our money.
Direct contact numbers are constantly on voicemail.
Repeated calls made to help desk with promises of a call back but without any response at all.
Although we have had some viewings booked via the website, the prospective buyers have all complained that they cannot get through to speak to anyone. We have not received any feedback whatsoever. We will never know how many enquiries or offers have been lost because of this company's lack of response.

I signed up with Tepilo in 2018 and as my house had been in the market for over 5 years, they offered me a ‘special’ deal to sign up for 20 months, instead of their usual 10, for the same price. But, I wouldn’t need it as they would sell the property within 50 odd days anyway.
The guy I dealt with left the company shortly after. I have had a handful of viewings, with feedback only from one. The last contact I had from them at all, was in August when my advisor emailed to say he was going away on annual leave for a month. It’s now mid November and I’ve heard nothing.
Coincidentally, the 10 month initial period also ended about that time and they did ask for money until I told them about the 20 month deal. So basically, they’ve only provided 10 months of poor service.
I would NEVER recommend Tepilo to anyone and very much regret not choosing Purple Bricks instead!

Tepilo are the worst! I feel like I am knocking my head against a brick wall. Yesterday I found myself close to tears as I can do nothing until someone calls me back.
They currently have the keys to my flat and all requested viewings since June have not been dealt with. I have called and called and called and eventually just end up leaving a message with the messaging service and here I am still waiting for a call for over 2 weeks.
I am tired of hearing Sara Beany's greeting telling me how wonderful they are..... I just want my keys back so I can sell my property elsewhere. Worst thing is they expect me to pay for this?!

I advice anyone planning to sell through Tepilo to think again and run a mile.

It seems they respond to reviews though so hopefully I will get a call back!
