The process of obtaining my PMP certification was a great experience overall. All the instructions were clear and defined and I was always informed of where I was in the process.

Earning my PMP has been one of the most rewarding professional achievements of my career. The exam is challenging and requires much more than memorization. It develops critical thinking, sound decision-making, and the ability to apply project management principles to real-world situations rather than simply recalling facts.

Preparing for this certification also changed me personally. It taught me discipline, consistency, and study habits that I had struggled to develop for much of my life. This journey became about much more than passing an exam. It showed me that with structure, commitment, and persistence, I could achieve goals that once felt out of reach.

Looking back, I also realized something unexpected. At the beginning of this journey, my goal was simply to pass the exam. As I progressed, my focus shifted from memorizing concepts to understanding why PMI recommends certain approaches and how to think like a project manager. By the end, the certification represented more than professional knowledge. It became proof to myself that I could commit to a difficult, long-term goal, stay consistent, and see it through.

I am proud to have earned the PMP and would recommend it to any professional who is serious about growing their project management knowledge, mindset, and capabilities.

Truly a growth experience

I thought it was very difficult but the PMI study hall and SNEC study group really helped me to prepare for it.

I sat near the entrance and almost 10 minutes at the end, people from outside talked very loud and too noisy which made it more difficult to concentrate .

My experience was very good through PMI and acceptance with Syracuse U O2O program.

I would recommend PMI to everyone.

Persons taking the exam should be allowed more time to read and review options.

It seems like everyone has imposter syndrome when it comes to passing the pmp test and earning the cert. I suppose that actually works in pmi's favor, to keep the cert competitive. i found the pmi study hall very helpful, but I had to really figure out how to train AI to help me study so developing courses on that would be good. It would have been nice to have a chat feature, or something where commutes can seamlessly utilize pmi study guide during commutes or doing chores at home. also, a guide to after the pmp test would be great.

My only issue I have is with the test. The test should be about comprehension of the PM principles and knowledge needed to be successful in the work place. There should be plenty of time given to test takers to read and ensure they comprehend the question and give the right answer to demonstrate their understanding. In real life we'll have more than 75 seconds to do this and in real life we have dialog to be able to ask clarifying questions. I'm unclear of PMI's logic behind the 230 min. for 180 questions. What does that contribute to PMI's understanding of the test takers comprehension? My Recommendation is that test take should be given closer to 3 min. per question. There is a strategy being taught by some PMP prep instructors to answer questions without reading the actual question. This strategy would be deployed if the test taker is running behind. In doing this, how does this instill confidence in PMI that the test taker has actually grasped the concept and principles of PM? Idid not deploy that strategy even though I knew I was running behind. I ended up running out of time and left about 15 questions unanswered. I still passed. I dont understand that either. But apart from the time allowed to take the test I think that the principles being taught in the PMBOK are a great foundation.

The questions were fair and relevant to the contents of PMBOK and the testing partner Pearson Vue was also very professional. The clarity of what environment to expect eliminated additional anxieties: I was there to take my exam and everything was set up to help us do this efficiently and securely and without hiccups and I really appreciated that. Also, as I was reflecting on this entire journey, I realized I’m grateful for the entire system. I learned so many good practices and mindsets about project management as I studied and I’m grateful for such robust and comprehensive framework to lean on for success. Thank you!!

very easy, professional experience

I’m disappointed in their product called Study Hall. Many of the questions are dated and it needs a revamp. It’s not the easiest to navigate. It would've been nice to have the feature to take practice test by domains. Additionally Study Hall constantly kept locking me out weeks at a time because it would think I’m logged in elsewhere. Tech support was slow to useless. I think this is because I would log in on both my phone and PC. If they could fix these issues then it would be a lot better.

My overall experience was excellent. The course material was well structured, practical, and closely aligned with the PMP examination content. The instructors demonstrated a strong understanding of project management principles and explained complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand manner.

The practice questions, mock examinations, and ongoing support significantly boosted my confidence and ensured I was well prepared for the exam, contributing greatly to my success. The learning environment was supportive and motivating, encouraging me to remain committed throughout the preparation process.

Overall, I found the training to be highly effective and would confidently recommend it to anyone preparing for the PMP certification.

Great guideline to how to be a perfect and efficient project manager, but it doesn't seem likely that any one PM would have time to put together all of the articles suggested for any one project, so it was a little overwhelming. I would have also appreciated more hands-on training classes to really understand how to put these documents, charts etc. to good use. But the course that I took and the studying and learning that I did has definitely changed the way I work and view PM roles.
