I had RLE in 2013. I was sold the dream 20:20 vision. After the first eye was done, I lost all clarity that I'd had before and was told "your brain needs to readjust"... they never mentioned this beforehand. I decided to wait for said readjustment/clarity before getting my other eye done. Surprise ....my brain never readjusted..... that's the waffle they tell you hoping that bullshit baffles brains! After some research into failures I discovered Sasha Rodoy and her endless campaigning for industry regulation. With Sasha's help, I was awarded an out of court settlement from OPTICAL EXPRESS. Skip to 2017 when I visited my GP and told him of the injurious effects of the RLE. Thankfully I had a very understanding GP who referred me to a specialist who replaced the multifocal lens with a monofocal one. So I have come full circle....back where I started wearing glasses. If only I'd come across Sasha's campaign sooner. Trouble is, when you're looking for successful outcomes, you only see successful outcomes. It breaks my heart to read about new victims of these unregulated outfits everyday. If you really want to make a difference, attend those demo's. Or if like me, you're tied up with work, provide a donation, or a regular DD. She's a one woman band and she's working tirelessly for us all.

I contacted Sasha after Optical Express ruined my eyes and then just turned their back on me. I was told I was the perfect candidate, stupidly I believed them and went ahead with lens replacement. Sasha gave me advice and put me in touch with the relevant people. I was able to get my pre op notes from OE, they listed 5 reasons why my lens replacement should not have gone ahead. I was helped by optical express ruined my life to get a modest settlement from Ultralase when out of legal time and I would have had no chance of getting this without OERML/Sasha Rodoy's help and she also enabled the truth to be discovered about what happened to me at Accuvision where I had incorrect ops that didn't fix my Ultralase issues. OERML is really the only place where damaged refractive eye surgery patients can get independent help and advice and it also involves the campaign for government to regulate the UK refractive eye surgery industry including all companies within it.

I was ready to reach for the medicine cabinet. I was truly so low that not even the total love and support of my wife could bring me up from the depths of hell. And then I found Opticalexpressruinedmylife. After 54 years of wearing glasses I made the decision to have refractive lens exchange, it had seemed such an easy procedure, just like visiting the dentist. The risks were low and I would be finally be able to read the labels on bottles in the shower - you know the sort of trivial things that can make a difference as well as all the bigger things that being free from glasses would make. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. What was meant to be life changing certainly was, but in the worst way you can imagine. In my case, as with other people, my surgery went horribly wrong which left me with persistent debilitating pain, ghosting, halos, very poor vision plus a residual prescription leaving me still wearing glasses. I was dropped like a hot potato by OE, just sent away with more steroids for 5 months, and could get no answers or help from anyone. After 7-8 months of laying on the sofa 24/7 with a blackout mask, not able to work, socialise, or interact with anyone, my mood obviously dropped below zero. I was truly ready to give up. But then we came across this website, and talking to Sasha gave me a glimmer of hope. I was not alone. OERMY offered emotional support and suggestions, and helped me to find the right people at Moorfields who have now been spectacular. I had suffered severe nerve damage by the procedure! Thankfully I am on the mend some 18 months or so after surgery, and have the means to pay for the ££££s for the additional treatments. I wish I had done my research and read this site before I signed my life away, but I can't turn the clock back. I can't thank Sasha enough for her help, advice and support at my darkest hour, she made such a difference then, and still continues to check I am ok. If you are reading this review before having surgery, please please please do your research. You may be fine, but you may also be on a long list of people who have had their lives ruined.

Sasha has been a great source of support for those of us that have been affected with post laser eye surgery issues. I myself have considerably poorer night vision due to halos and glare. The surgery in question failed to fix the route cause of these issues.

Sasha supported me with her knowledge and quite simply by listening to what I went through after a lens replacement surgery that should never have taken place.
It might seem that those expressing their experiences are focussing on the negatives too much, but until it uappens to you, it may be hard to understand, just how profoundly affected you are, when your eyes are negatively changed. It affects your brain too with physically and mentally and emotionally trying to live through the changes. There needs to be a site like this, to balance out the corporate facades and false claims that dont allow their customers to make a genuinely, fully informed decision on whether to have this surgery or not.

Sasha is an incredible lady and an answer to a prayer for anyone caught out by the slick sales pitch of Optical Express, Optegra and other privately run companies in a business which is unregulated.
She campaigns tirelessly to help others although battling every day with her own personal issues as a result of damaging and debilitating eye surgery.
When I contacted her myself to try and find a way forward (no aftercare offered in my case when problems were apparent) she was kind, supportive and happy to point me in the right direction for help.
She also made me feel less alone and less vulnerable.
Finding others whose own lives have been so badly impacted too has helped.
Sasha is a beacon of hope for many and may her light always continue to shine as she continues her vital campaigning for a change in the law.

I made the worst decision of my life by having lens replacement surgery after being told I was a suitable candidate - I wasn't and since discovered I should never have had the procedure. It has has a devastating affect on me, physically, emotionally and financially. I wish I had found this before I got surgery and made the biggest mistake of my life. Always get a second opinion from an independent ophthalmologist who does not provide the surgery. I learned the hard way. Record all of your consultations and get everything in writing.

Back in 2012 I had lens replacement with Optical Express what a disaster completely ruined my life. Sasha Rodoy was the only person to help me and find a solicitor who would fight for me. My case was eventually settle out of court 7 years later.
Sasha helped me out of the goodness of her heart no costs not payment just helped me as no one else would.
I can not function at night and my eyesight is getting worse and worse with calcified bad batch of lens. Biggest mistake of my life believing the BS and awful lies of OE.
Sasha you deserve a meddle for helping so many people navigate their way with this ruthless greedy industry.

After having Lens replacement surgery in Jan 24, followed by Laser enhancement surgery in May 24 . My last appointment in Sept confirmed I would need glasses.
I have just collected my new glasses and contact lens (Jan 25) from SpecSavers due to my vision being so poor for driving and generally really poor for distance. I have tried to live with it for the last 12 months but I suffer from glare and halos and I suffer sensitivity to bright lights. Having the surgery was biggest mistake and cost me a lot both financially and mentally. My eye sight is worse after the procedures & optical express don’t care & your simply dismissed as a 1% of people that it’s not worked for.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Sasha. I was booked in for surgery but cancelled this due to reading reviews online. I can't be thankful enough with Sasha and her work. I had booked a laser surgery with optical express and for some reason... I have a gut feeling about it, I wasn't sure of the way they were handling an actual surgery, even the "meet the surgeon" over the phone felt wrong to me, to informal... then I checked the reviews online and all the horror stories of many people left with serious issues after surgeries that I panicked and I wanted to cancel everything, then Sasha came to my rescue and helped me out to cancel everything and get my £500 back, without your help I would have walked away empty handed. thank you so much Sasha for you time, patience and dedication x

Was in the process of saving up for refractive surgery by Optical Express but started having doubts due to the incompetent and lazy customer service I received.
Everything was fine while I was there getting my eyes tested, but afterwards they couldn't be bothered sending me an email back about the details of the surgery when I kindly asked them for one. I called them up after weeks of receiving nothing but they claimed I wasn't even suitable for the surgery!
I told them I'd received an email stating that I WAS eligible for the surgery and if I'd like anymore information - hence why I had asked them to send me all the details.
The receptionist said she would send me a email about the details but didn't.
They also refused to give me the prescription of the glasses I purchased, which cost me nearly £300. I guess they don't want me purchasing glasses from anywhere else!
I suppose I could overlook a bit of administration incompetence, but with thanks to this site and reading people's horror stories of botched OE eye surgery, I'm going to stay well clear and spend my savings on something else

I feel like a guardian angel has just tapped me on the shoulder. Thank you for taking the time to call someone you don't know to stop them making a huge mistake. I'm a mum to a six year old child and can't imagine what would have happened if I had gone ahead and then suffered some of the problems I've learnt about from you and the information you gave me.

Excellent information. Honest and realistic. This woman deserves much, much more recognition for her endless charitable work to help keep people safe from a badly unscrupulous industry that butchers people needlessly.
