Awful asked for where my parents were married and where I was born I gave the answers and then it said it was wrong so I clicked forgotten details (although they weren’t) then locked me out. I spoke to customer service who said they will resend my password by post SERIOUSLY! It’s a scam to withhold your money as long as possible I’m seriously concerned I won’t get my money back. They said it’s policy to send the password by post they have my email they have my mobile number and I want the money returned to my bank account which they also have so why do they need to send by post?

Atrociously disorganised. Misinformative savings bank.
A bank so disorganised that they Locking out thousands of savers from their accounts. The last CEO was sacked and it’s a continuing mess.
Their phone employees are so very badly trained that they confuse issues continually. Giving the wrong information, or not understanding what they are told to say, thereby, causing problems later down the road.
They freeze an accounts POA without informing the account holder nor the POA. Thereby freezing an account.
Trying to speak with anyone with any authority at NS&I is absolutely impossible. Therefore a customer is at the mercy of those they don’t train very well. Those who seem terrified to put a foot wrong. Continually putting a customer on hold to speak with those who are far too godlike for customers to speak with.
This is a typical government entity. They do what they want, how they want, when they want. Ignoring that it’s a customers money. if there’s a serious issue the only option is to bring in lawyers.

Abysmal customer service from Louise…
Abysmal customer service from Louise who is supposedly a manager there - very rude and sarcastic and didn’t manage to get my complaint resolved or know who their own CEO is. If I ever manage to access my account I will withdraw my bond immediately and never use them again. Terrible user experience, service, website and app. Everything had to be done by forms in the post and they’ve never heard of customer care.
Totally Useless
Trying to login to give my bond renewal instructions. My account has been suspended for no reason. I have tried to get a new password by clicking on "Forgot Password". This tells me to phone a number where I have a pleasure of speaking to a useless robot. At the end of the conversation it tells me to go through the process again which just leads back again to the useless robot. There don't seem to be any humans working for NS&I anymore.
Incompetent to a worrying degree
Great, until there is a problem, then terrible.
My brother recently passed away and i used the "tell everyone once" service, i received a letter from nsandi saying my brother had premium bonds and i should use their bereavement service to recover it, which i did, well it turns out my brother didn't have any premium bonds, it was my account they were closing, apparently nsandi can't tell the difference between Peter and Paul, despite refering to us both by name in corrospondence, now i have £7k missing from my account and i just keep being told "it will turn up eventually" the individual customer service agents are friendly and helpful but it is clear that the organisation itself is utterly incompetent, which is worrying with an organisation controlling so much of peoples money.
Awful Technology
On a PC, The required hash # response to log on your phone callback does not work with all networks.
Secondly the app does not work at all.
By far the worst service I have experienced with any bank.

NS&I Premium Bonds service is fine until the bond holder dies and the estate requests the funds even with all the correct documents, service now absolutely disgusting!!
Think twice before advising an elderly member of the family to put their money in!!!

appalling experience opening a British saver bond account. They require you to give your debit card to check you have the fund available in your ZERO interest current account, which is then verified with your bank at the time, THEN NOTHING. You get logged out with no message as to why. I rang to ask about this, and was told, "yeah that's normal, we'll be dealing with your request eventually, might take seven days!" I now have a load of money in my current account earning bugger all, just for when the decide to open the new account. Avoid if you can

I went to have some money sent to my feeder account to pay an urgent bill only to have the system after having put my password in ask me to answer a question of what city was my father born my father was not born in a city with that it went off and decided it was going to send a new password by post (snail post). I needed the money to pay an urgent bill which I am not able to do because of NS&I incompetent system. Oh yes I rang and because the system has sent me a new password they are also not able to reset a new password when I asked to speak to a manager there was not one in the office, the telephone also had the worst delay on it they may have been in a 3rd world country "UK".

We purchased £600 of premium bonds 2 years ago, June 2024. I opted to reinvest all winnings to buy more bonds. How much winnings did we get (I purchased on behalf of my now 13yr old boy)? Nada, zilch, f-ck-all in a total of 24 monthly raffles. Avoid premium bonds unless your happy giving your cash to HM treasury for nothing in return.

It is very easy to manage savings with NS&I, and the security measures in place are excellent. We have had good growth, better than a standard bank savings account, so our experience has been very good
Not for funds you might need access to quickly as inefficient
I will continue to use NS&I when the rates are good simply because of the government guarantee, although I will not be using it for funds that I might need to get out quickly.
If you use NS&I then you need to accept that this is a state run operation with all the inefficiency that goes with it.
- I regularly find that I am only able to log-in after two attempts (even using different computers - and it's the same on my wife's account)
- Yesterday I was unable to log-in for hours (and website trackers indicated that this was a general issue) but there was no indication of a problem on the NS&I website.
- I few days ago I attempted to deposit cash into Premium Bonds and was kicked out of the site. However, NS&I treated the failed deposit as part of my £50,000 maximum and blocked me from adding to my bonds. Three days later and this has not been corrected.
- Reading other reviews indicate that there are other issues as well.
