Oktoberfest Package

I started asking for MAD Gift Vouchers last year and finally got round to booking the Oktoberfest Package in July 2024. The booking system was simple and easy and the team at Mystery Away Days were helpful and always on hand to help.

Not knowing what to expect we set our expectations accordingly and waited to see where we were being sent. Just under two weeks before the travel date we got all the information through; travelling to Cologne, staying in Dussledorf and watching the mighty Bayer Leverkusen. Could not have been happier.

Joined by a friend we travelled out on the Friday (fantastic flight times there and back) and arrived around 3.00pm German time in Cologne. The train services in German were top notch, cheap and the trip to Dussledorf was a short 45 minute train journey away. Easy to book online using an app.

Arrived in Dussledorf and the apartment was a ten minute walk away. We went for the AirBNB option and in all honesty it was better than a hotel. We could not have been happier. Instructions to get in were clear and concise and the apartment was top floor, huge and clean and comfortable. Dumped our stuff and another 10 minutes walk we were in the bustling centre of Dussledorf bars. It was Oktoberfest and these guys like a bier. Great night bar hopping and the area is very safe and friendly.

Be aware that a lot of bars are cash only if you end up here!

Next morning we were up early and back on a train to Leverkusen. Cost about 13 Euros and could use the train 24 hours. 40 minute journey. Arrived at the stadium, got some food and we were able to access the stadium two hours before kick off, look around, get some photos and enjoy the concourse biers and pretzels.

The stadium was superb, the atmosphere even better. We had a slightly restricted view next to the wheelchairs users, but it didn't affect anything really. The crowd was like no game I've seen before in England and it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend. After the game it was back to Dussledorf and a repeat of the night before.

Sunday morning our flight was evening, so we headed into Cologne via train again, settled down in a bar, watched the Chelsea vs Forest game then headed for the airport.

All in all it was great value for money, well organised and an amazing experience. Would highly recommend for any football fan out there. Thank you Mystery Away Days.

The trip was unreal the location of the hotel to the train station and to the stadium. The ultras of Charleroi made the most incredible atmosphere and the fans around us were even translating the songs for us it was brilliant

we had an amazing experience for our first football experience to Milan, San Siro Stadium. I recently took a leap of faith and booked a mystery away day, and wow—it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! If you’ve ever considered booking a trip without knowing your final destination until the last minute, trust me, it’s so worth it!

My journey didn’t start smoothly (hello, cancelled flight from the Isle of Man, nothing to do with these guys!), but after a quick rebooking, I found myself in Manchester ahead of flying out to Milan the next morning.

The cherry on top? That evening, I was sitting in the iconic San Siro stadium, watching AC Milan crush Lecce 3-0. The atmosphere was electric, and the chance to sit in amongst the heart of the Rossoneri for the match in such a historic stadium was something I’ll never forget.

The rest of the weekend was a dream—wandering through Milan’s bustling streets, indulging in amazing Italian food, sipping wine & unfiltered peroni, as well as having a full day soaking up the beauty of the Lombardy region. It felt surreal how quickly the weekend passed, and by Sunday afternoon, I was already on my way back to the UK.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat! Whether you’re solo like I was or with a group of mates, it’s an experience that leaves you buzzing with excitement. The spontaneity, the rush of not knowing what’s next—it’s something I think everyone should try at least once.

If you’re thinking about booking a mystery away day, don’t hesitate. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made!

What a trip!

We found out the Friday before we travelled that we would be going to Milan to watch AC Milan at the San Siro.

Flight out was at 10.40am with a 2hr flight time to Milan Bergamo.

There was plenty of busses into the centre of Milan running every 15mins with a 50 min transfer time.

After arriving on the bus our air b&b was 150m from the central station/ bus drop off.
Air b&b was realy nice, way over equipped for 2 lads for 2 nights, there was a manned reception from 10-6 and they even let us leave our luggage when checked out on the Sunday.

Our match was a Friday night kick off 2045hrs this gave us time to grab a couple of drinks before heading out of the city towards the football stadium.
Metro was really easy to use and being based 150m from the central station made traveling around the city easy.
The San Siro is in a rough neighbourhood we had a little walk about but it did feel uneasy on the streets near to the stadium, so we spent most time outside the stadium where there was plenty of trucks selling food and drinks.
For the match we were in the 3rd tier above the ultras, they put on show singing for the whole match. A C Milan ended up winning 3-0!
We then had 2 full days to explore the city with our return not scheduled until 2255 on the Sunday.
We literally couldn’t of asked for a better trip and have no suggestions how it could of been improved.

Will definitely be booking again.

Excellent weekend, amazing value for a weekend away in Hamburg. Will definitely be a regular thing. Had a few questions leading up to the trip and the support and response was quick and very helpful. Apart from the hangover, can't fault a thing!! And had a full extra day to explore the city as well, which was a massive added bonus.

I bought the Mystery away days trip for my son’s 21st Birthday. We got AC Milan at The San Siro Stadium. Couldn’t believe our luck. A late Friday night game with an unbelievable atmosphere…absolutely electric. The whole trip was amazing from our flight times to our more than adequate hotel. Unbelievable value for money!! Would recommend Mystery away days and have recommended mystery away days to friends. Thank you so much.

Just got back from our mystery away day trip, RC Sporting Charleroi v Club Bruges! First class trip and a great game to watch, brilliant!

Spent £155 per person for £31 return Ryanair flights to Eindhoven and £13 match tickets to watch a 0-0 between FC Eindhoven and Roda JC.

Just £111 per person profit for Mystery Away Days, should have just booked it ourselves.

We made a good weekend of it whilst we were in Eindhoven but that was all down to our own planning and organisation.

Flew out to eindhoven from stanstead. Brilliant city. We watched a game between RKC WAALJIKI V AZ ALMAAR

Four of us just got back from Gothenberg , what a fantastic trip , everything very smooth from first flight to last , air b&b very good . Watched GAIS draw 1-1 , had a good drink with the home fans before and after very friendly , all I can say is , do it !

Absolutely brilliant weekend. Early flight to Copenhagen. Hotel was 2 stops on the Metro so we dropped the bags off and went straight into Copenhagen. The game was that night so jumped the train to Lyngby to see them play Vejle. As we didn’t fly back till Sunday night we had the bonus of a full 2 days in Copenhagen. Cannot recommend it highly enough and will definitely do it again.

Firstly the flights were awful times meaning we didn’t get much out of the trip that we paid for. The communication from the company was absysmal, on the way to airport trying to get in contact with the company to ensure we could access the accommodation. The accommodation was in the middle of nowhere with no transport links. We ended up spending a fortune on taxis lax wasn’t impressed at all. Personally wouldn’t recommend

Fantastic trip to Madrid and to watch Atletico - wonderful city and awesome stadium. The Mystery Away day team were great, and communicated throughout. Christian was very generous ahead of time and was able to work out costings when some of the stag party dropped out due to unforeseen circumstances. Was also super helpful and flexible when tickets to the original game went to ‘season ticket only’ and managed to rearrange tickets to an even better fixture. Atletico Madrid V Osasuna at the Metropolitano! Contactable throughout, including during the trip. Highly recommend. Fantastic stag doo, weekend and fixture had by all!!!

Great trip, early flight out of Birmingham, arriving in Berlin at 10am local time, straight to the hotel by the central station, bag drop then a chance to get to see the sites. Game day, jumped on the train to Wolfsburg, Great game day atmosphere, we wore home shirts that put us in a great place to chat and drink with locals. Definitely will be booking again, thank you

Absolutely amazing weekend away!!!
What a trip!! Arrived Friday morning to our secret destination Genva. Somewhere none of our party had ever visited before. What a place 👏 🙌. Few drinks on on lake geneva was the first thing we did, as we made our way to our apartment. Great spacious and very clean, and central geneva. 10mins walk from bars and restaurants.

Day 2 game day. Our fixture was in the neighbouring city of lausanne, another stunning city. Short train ride (40mins) and then more drinks and food as we made our way to the ground. Lausanne Stade olympique. What a great little ground. Watched a local Derby between lausanne sport vs lausanne. And wow what an atmosphere. Lausanne away fans were incredible, bouncing singing cheering for the entire game with banners giant flags and flares. Absolutely brilliant. The ground is surrounded by the Swiss alps and having a cold pint, sat in our seats with the sunshine beating down and snow capped mountains in the distance, was and incredible experience.

ABSOLUTELY 100% booking again next yr.

If your looking to book an away day in Europe look elsewhere trust me. From start to finish the customer service was awful to say the least, when fixtures changed and timings changed they offered no solutions and simply told us to book trains as they had accommodated us 70 miles away from the actual match venue. When arriving at the accommodation they had booked me a single room for myself and my 18 year old son to which the useless hotel staff would not change for us so it cost another £300 to book alternate boarding to which mystery away days refused to refund. Overall a good experience to get to a game in Europe but totally let down by this sham of a company to who I would not book with again or reccomend to anybody.

As a first-time traveler to France, I was excited to watch the Montpellier vs AS Monaco game, arranged by Mystery Away Days organizer. However, what was supposed to be a thrilling experience turned into a series of frustrations and letdowns.

To begin with, the airport (Beziers) was a staggering 60 kilometers away from the hotel, leaving me annoyed and upset right from the start. The situation worsened when I discovered that the anticipated match had been rescheduled to a 3rd division game between Nimes Olympique vs Sochaux. Not only was this a significant downgrade, but the lack of communication and consideration from the organizer was disheartening.

Throughout the trip, there was a distinct lack of support and guidance from the organizer. When faced with a train strike upon arrival at the airport, we were left stranded without any assistance or advice on how to proceed. The subsequent need to hire a taxi to transport us to Montpellier only added to our expenses and frustration.

As if that wasn't enough, the football match itself presented its own set of challenges. Located a further 50 kilometers away from our hotel, attending the match required extensive travel via buses and walking. Despite reaching out to the organizer for guidance, their responses were vague and unhelpful, leaving us to figure out the logistics on our own.

Ultimately, the experience culminated in watching only 55 minutes of the match before having to leave to catch the last bus back to the hotel. The total cost of public transportation for the trip amounted to approximately £550, a significant expense that could have been avoided with better organization and support from the organizer.

In conclusion, my experience with this football match organizer was nothing short of disappointing. From the lack of communication to the disregard for customer satisfaction, it's clear that this company has much room for improvement. I would strongly caution against using their services and urge others to seek alternatives to avoid similar disappointments.

Bitterly disappointed with Mystery Away Days and the shocking way they have handled our trip. We were given Montpellier as our destination to see Montpellier vs Monaco in Ligue 1 which we were quite happy with. However a week later we were told the fixtures had been re arranged and that we would be sent to watch 3rd division Nimes Olympique vs Sochaux. We had informed them that we were not happy with this downgrade but they insisted that there was nothing that could be done. Our airport ( beziers ) was 63km away from the hotel & the nimes stadium was 51km away from the hotel. All in all we spent roughly £550 as a group of 3 just on public transport for the weekend which is shocking logistical planning on mystery away days behalf. We also only managed to watch 55 minutes of the football match in order to catch the last bus transfer/tram transfers back to the hotel as it was a 9pm kick off and a 35 minute walk back to the bus station. A huge disappointment as the entire weekend was supposed to revolve around the football which had an an attendance of about 3000 in a tiny tin-pot temporary stadium with nothing to play for in the 3rd tier. Disgusting value considering we paid £385 each just for the flights,game, and hotel. Would definitely not recommend using this joke of a company and would advise everyone to look to do it themselves going forward.

Having spoken with the management team, we are happy to offer a full refund of the match tickets originally bought for Montpellier as well 50% of your £550 travel cost as a gesture of goodwill which amounts to a total of £365, on the basis that you remove the defamatory reviews.

As mentioned, we do apologise for the change of game, we’re disappointed that the Montpellier fixture was rearranged, but this was no fault of Mystery Away Days.

We’re sorry you were not happy with the only other fixture we could send you to, but as the trip was booked before Montpellier changed fixture date, we unfortunately could not rebook your entire trip at late notice and could only send to one other fixture in the area.
