Booked a mystery away trip for my boyfriends birthday. Unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations but we managed to make the best out of the trip. From the start we had issues:
- Package information was only sent 6 days (2-3 weeks set out in FAQs) before we flew leaving it last minute to sort out additional holiday logistics i.e airport parking and I was worried about missing my BFs actual bday to gift him the gift package I purchased.
- The gift voucher itself was not worth the £9.99 I spent on it, being just a squished envelope and printed booking.com emails. I felt quite embarrassed wrapping it for a present to say the least!
- Airport booking. The trip was not from my requested airport Heathrow (20 mins from our house) but instead Stanstead 1hr45min drive away which added extra inconvenience. My requested airport does fly with BA (for the same price) to the location we were sent to although they denied this when I queried it and instead we had to fly Ryanair where you have to pay for seats and baggage as extra adding further cost onto us. *REPLY UPATE* MAD claiming to have reached out to me to confirm this but this is UNTRUE. I knew nothing regarding my flight arrangements until package was sent.
- Hotel Quality. The inital hotel provided was not up to standard (2* offering) , However the company did rebook us to a more suitable one, but this should have been right 1st time.
- Ticket issues: Maybe the worst of all! Thinking once we were on our holiday everything would be fine, we arrived to the Mainz stadium to be rejected at the barriers. We missed the first part of the match trying to get to the bottom of it, the staff there informed us that the account who purchased our tickets was blocked and confirmed our tickets were never paid for. We had to then buy additional tickets at a high price for worse seats but we were just happy to see the game finally. On contacting MAD about this issue they have refused compensation which is highly disappointing given this is main reason we paid for this trip. *REPLY UPDATE* MAD is claiming tickets were not blocked but I have offical paperwork from stadium confirming they were. I was never compensated money back from my package for this.
- Holiday logistics. We were flown into an airport 1hr 15mins away from the town we were visiting meaning we had to pay 200 Euros for a taxi or get a bus which only depart an hour and half after we landed. We went for the bus given the high taxi cost, but this turned out to be a disaster! Getting stopped on the motorway for over 2 hours while the police came and took our driver away due to passengers calling them on his driving. While this is not MADs fault, choosing the cheapest flights possible and going to an obscure airport (frankfurt main airport was only a 20min train from Mainz) to save a few £££ has no respect for the overall holiday experience of their customers and you can tell the team behind it do not think about anything else regarding your trip other than what they book. REPLY UPDATE* Completely not value for money: £80 ryanair flights (no seats or luggage included), £117 (hotel fee), £56 (match tickets which we never got) nearly a £300 mark-up on the package price of £550 I paid. The figures speak for themselves that you are better of doing it yourself. No recommendations or anything extra just £300 for the element of 'surprise'
- Customer service: Communication was slow, for example I had no response between 20th - 3rd Jan, I can understand this was during the christmas period but when your holiday starts on the 10th Jan this was very stressful.

While some issues were eventually addressed the overall experience left a lot to be desired. I would not book with them again unless their service improves.

Brilliant Mystery Away Days weekend in Milan. Great experience watching AC Milan at the San Siro. Highly recommend purchasing a mystery away days package, great communication and well organised.

Brought this as a surprise gift and It was a great trip. Was lucky enough to watch a ac Milan game at the san Siro. Recommend to anyone.

Had a fantastic weekend away in Bergamo, Italy, and watched Atalanta FC play AC Milan. We had 10 front-row seats right next to the AC Milan ultras and an unobstructed view of the Atalanta ultras at the far end of the pitch. An unforgettable night of football! Our accommodation was very good for our needs and centrally located. Everything was organised in advance by MAD and went smoothly throughout the check-in processes. We'll all be back again!

The overall experience with the football match at the centre was really good, great stadium atmosphere and supporters. Malaga is a great place although the accommodation was a bit far from the town so taxis were required. The only down side was the air transport which was delayed outgoing and coming back with no real explanation and conditions on the plane was very cramped.

We had a great weekend in Milan. We were buzzing with the destination and the city had everything in terms of food & nightlife. As for the game, we were for Sassuolo vs Salernitana. We were initially disappointed with the status of the game, being in Serie B, and additionally when the stadium barely hit 25% capacity…Further, we were pretty shocked to find out the game was over 100 miles away & a £60+ train return. We also had to pick up tickets at the stadium but understand this isn’t company’s fault. We did however make the absolute best of it, watched Sassuolo win 4-0, and are fans for life.

Mixed feelings as we loved the trip, the surprise element, and would be keen to do it again…but can’t help feeling slightly let down.

Was always sceptical about this actually working,but it finally did and it went well from start to finish.
The trip ended up in gran canaria to see las palmas v mallorca,hotel location was right by the beach,the taxi to the ground was 20 minutes,there was a fan park with live band the game ended up with a loss for las palmas,but 5 goals and a red card made up for that.
Overall one of the best weekends we've done will definitely be doing it again.

I went to Geneva to see Servette in a a top of the table clash with Zurich with my 19 year old son. To be honest I would have never have chosen to go to Geneva, but I’m glad I did as it was a great city and match day experience.

Early flights on Friday from Gatwick and an evening flight back on Sunday meant we were able to enjoy the city and make the most of our visit. The hotel was also great with good public transport links (free public transport for guests was also a bonus).

The seats we had for the match were in the home end, so it was lively with lots of pyro and singing, but all the fans were friendly and the stadium was really good.

The only downside was Switzerland isn’t a cheap place to visit but that didn’t stop us from having a good time.

It’s definitely worth a punt going on a mystery away day and going somewhere different that you might not have ever thought of going before. Can’t wait to book again next year.

Really happy with what has been a fantastic experience courtesy of Mystery Away Days. I opted for the flights and match tickets only package, preferring to sort out my own accommodation. Two weeks before the selected dates we were sent a small box with the details and we were delighted to see we were going to Atalanta v Udinese match. Flight time from Edinburgh to Milan malpensa was 0930, which was ideal. We had to get from there to Bergamo which is 60 miles away but it was 10 euros on the bus to get to Milan, where we spent a few hours exploring then 6 euros each on train from Milan to Bergamo. Bergamo wonderful city, quite chilled compared with Milan. Match was on Sunday so got the full Saturday to explore Bergamo and scope the stadium. Match day tickets were good, close to away fans but superb atmosphere. Flight home after game with Ryanair was 2150 so plenty time to get to Milan Bergamo airport which cost 3 euros. Would definitely use Mystery Away Days again, worked out really well having to go through Milan and all part of the adventure!

Brilliant weekend away , watched Atalanta v Udinese , super atmosphere during the game , hotel chosen was clean and tidy and 5 mins from train station , hassle free from when booking , all flights , hotel and match tickets sorted with no hassle to me !
Will defo use again and many of my friends are looking to sort a weekend away

Brought a mystery away day for my husband for his birthday. We were so excited to get a trip to Italy 🇮🇹 to watch Atalanta vs Udinese at the Gewiss Stadium. Flight times were early on a Friday which I asked for so we landed before 9am which meant we had the whole day sightseeing in Milan. Our hotel was in Bergamo which is a beautiful city and about a 30 minute walk to the stadium. We were in a very pleasant 4* Best Western which had everything we needed, was clean and safe with friendly staff. We also had the whole day free on Saturday so we visited Lake Como which was stunning. Sunday was match day! What a great stadium in the shadows of the mountains. Brilliant seats in row 2! The game had everything! We had a goal disallowed, we then conceded so went 1nil down. Then in 5 mad minutes we drew then scored again to win 2-1! Their fans are very passionate - this is an understatement! The ultras made it all part of the experience! Overall it was a fantastic experience. Mystery away days booking process was easy, customer service when my parking info was sent to them instead of me were really helpful, match day tickets were great. We are already talking about our next booking!

We had a great time in Bratislava this weekend. Not somewhere we would ever have thought to visit. Flights and hotel were great we had 2 full days in the city and stayed right beside old town we were able to walk everywhere and make the most of it. The stadium was only a 10 minute taxi ride too so nothing felt out of the way. I’ve given 4/5 for value for money we could have done this exact trip half price ourselves so you’re really paying for the surprise and the organisation.

Hassle free, great that mysteryawaydays organise everything for you so you can just relax.

Ended up being sent to Bergamo to watch Atalanta vs udinese

The city was stunning, plenty of bars and restaurants along with things to tour around.

The stadium atmosphere was totally different to the UK, we were sat right next to the away fans which created an enjoyable experience and they never stopped singing.

What a fantastic idea executed brilliantly! I booked a trip for my family and was thoroughly impressed. We were based in Milan and had tickets to a local derby, Monza v AC Milan. The seats were amazing, the atmosphere electric.

We will definitely be booking again.

Just returned from a mystery away day weekend in Bergamo. We saw Atalanta 6-1 win against local rivals Verona. The game was amazing, flights and quality of accommodation all worked really well. 7 of us all arrived at the airport on Friday morning and opened the envelope - the element of surprise was possible because someone else had checked us in. Looking forward to the next trip

Amazing weekend in Sofia!!!

Can’t wait to book our next trip with mystery away days. We had the pleasure to see the Sofia derby which was an experience itself. Booking with MAD was straight forward. Got our itinerary and looked forward to it. City was beautiful and so glad we got there.

We booked this about 8 weeks before the date we picked

None of us wanted to know where we were going so, I paid for the package and gave my wife's email address for all the details of the trip.

They do ask you where you would like to go and places you want to avoid.
We left this selection blank as we wanted a surprise.

All we asked for was a place with an atmosphere.

I paid an extra £9.99 for the gift package so my son could open the package at the airport.

Friday 4th October from Manchester airport we all arrived excited to see where we were off to all I told everyone was a time to get to the airport not the actual time of the flight as it would be easy to find where we are going from that and I wanted to keep it as a surprise.

My son opened the Mystery away days package and we found out we were off to BELGIUM.

Somewhere none of us had been before and we were going to Brussels.

What we also got when my son opened his package was a shirt from the home team we were going to see ( the wife’s idea not mine 😊 ) and it was brilliant £40 she paid £75 from the club shop when we arrived there so good shout

We arrived in Belgium from the airport to the hotel was approx. 1 hour 15 mins on a flibco coach they are based outside the airport easy to find and buy tickets.
Ticket price was £17.95 single £34 return ( adults and children all same prices no discount for children )
We paid a bit more for the coach as the train is cheaper, but you have to get two trains to Brussels central ( Midi station )

Coach wasn’t that bad, and we arrived with plenty of time to spare to have some beers and drop the bags off and hit the town.

We were all very surprised at the standard of hotel we were given ( even the wife said she would have stayed there )

Train ride was about 45 mins I think ( too many beers by this time )

While on the train it was full of Mechelen supporters, and they noticed we were English and spoke to us they were all buzzing that we have come all the way from England to see their team.
And they loved the idea of mystery away days – that you can go anywhere in Europe to watch a game and not know who you going to see.

From the train platform to the stadium more and more Mechelen supporters came up to us and wanted to speak to us it was mental.
All the fans were amazing & friendly and loved that we have come to support their team.

What can I say about the stadium and the home and away fans were amazing

We asked for atmosphere, and we got that and more!!

We had 10 seats all together behind the goal right next to the away fans was amazing!!

We got everything and more it was one of the best weekends I’ve had and worth every single penny.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews on here about not receiving any information or the match wasn’t what they expected, or the times of the flights was rubbish.

They literally ask you what you want where do you want to go and what flight times you want.

I was a bit dubious about handing over nearly 3k but Mystery away days DELIVERED !!

It's a bit daunting parting with your money and not hearing until close to your planned weekend. However, when you do get some information it's so exciting!

The trip was booked just right, maximising the weekend break time and sorting all the key bits of your weekend for you.

We visited Milan and had tickets to Inter Vs Torino (3-2, red card and a penalty, what more could you ask for)

The accommodation was a walking distance to the ground and was spotless.

I've been provided with a memory that'll last a lifetime - it is so worth booking with this company!

Amazing time and experience end to end - From booking to the weekend, the comms to jetting off for our adventure it was seamless. Our trip was to see Annecy FC vs Red Star, with us flying into Geneva. Hotel was great, clean and close to Annecy. Annecy itself is beautiful and lots to do (cycle round the lake, wandering the cobbled streets sampling the local food and drinks) the highlight of the weekend was ultimately the match on Friday night. Great atmosphere and really friendly crowds.
