Scam company used by Samsung for trade in’s!
This bogus scam of a company is used by Samsung to ‘trade in’ your phone when buying a new one. I sent in my in perfect condition flip 3 when I purchased the flip 4 in august. As soon as I recieved my pre order flip 4, I promptly sent off my flip 3. 2 WEEKS after receiving, MTR sent me an email saying there was a blob on the screen (lcd bleed) accompanied with a very low res image that showed absolutely NOTHING! Asking me to pay £150!!! I asked them for a higher res image 3 times via email, no response other than ‘it’s in your terms and conditions of trade’ robotic responses, completely ignoring my requests and comments. I KNOW that phone was in perfect condition when it left my home. So after phoning Samsung direct, providing them with the ‘photo’ they sent me, Samsung agreed they couldn’t see anything. They opened a case and told me they would get back to me in 48 hrs. Another 2 weeks later - still heard nothing from either party. yesterday I received an email saying my trade in was now complete (no mention of charges).. it just shows that MTR group will try anything on to get money out of unsuspecting consumers. I therefore recommend (as I will be doing in the future) before sending anything off for trade in, take numerous photos of your phone as evidence. You can clearly see by the reviews, this has happened to a LOT of Samsung customers. Proceed with caution with this scam company.
Used Samsung trade in offer to trade my…
Used Samsung trade in offer to trade my old broken Samsung Galaxy S7 phone and got £150 within 3 hours of them receiving my phone.
Well I read lots of people having issues but I didn't have any issues because my phone was already broken and Samsung offer said I could trade any broken phone and get £150. For which I am happy.
Terrible company, SamsungUK are appalling but their user of this company makes their service worse.
Terrible company. I had to return a faulty Samsung Galaxy S22+. Samsung were dreadful in regards to their own customer services but when I tried to get a refund for my old Galaxy S9+ (worth £80) which I'd traded in MTR tried to reduce the trade in price from £80 to £65 as the whole thing from start to finish took over a month to sort out & they claimed that the cost of the phone was now less than when I traded it. I told them that I wasn't happy with this as it was their fault for taking so long to issue the refund & didn't see why I should lose out because of their incompetence. After complaining on Twitter daily about SamsungUK's appalling customer services MTR finally refunded me the full £80.
As I said Samsung were dreadful, so much so that I will NEVER buy one of their products again, but their use of this dreadful company made the whole thing worse. Avoid Samsung, avoid MDT.

MTR just tried to get £75 from me for a faulty USB port on a Samsung s20 plus phone. Emailed Mtr and told them the Samsung sales guy said as long as as the screen shows now cracks you will recieve the full £290 trade in.
MTR have now come back and said they will waiver the £75.00 fee and take it up with Samsung. My phone does not have a USB Port !!!
Absolutely shocking company
Absolutely shocking company! Offered me £77 for a mac book I sent it the and they counter offered 20 cos it was missing a rubber foot off the bottom. Robbery in plain sight.
Absolute rip off company how Samsung…
Absolute rip off company how Samsung have decided to associate themselves with this company is frankly immoral, the previous reviews say so much. They are trying to charge £75.00 to replace a camera cover which is ridiculous the parts are not worth that, I'm going to cancel the upgrade, Apple or any other phone now will never use Samsung again
CON MERCHANTS
Same as most other reviews back glass on my Samsung trade was cracked upon arrival and I got charged £25 .couldn't claim off the post office as they only let me know 30 days after the phone arrived at their facility. Even sent me video footage of it being opened.
Rip off company for definate
Sent several emails to them and got same reply pay £25
I feel cheated!!
Like many others who have left reviews I too have had a negative experience with this company using a Samsung Trade In. Several weeks after they received the phone I got an email with a photo telling me I needed to pay £25 because the back cover was cracked. The phone was in immaculate physical condition when I packaged it up and sent it. I asked for a better photo and proof it was the phone I submitted. They did send one with the IMEI number on the back and it was my phone. If the damage was simply a crack I would have put it down to transit damage and would have accepted I needed to pay. However not only was there a crack on the bottom corner there were also lots of scuff marks and scored scratches on the case. That is not transit damage. I have paid the £25 as I didn't think to take photos of the phone before I sent it off and I can't risk my new phone being blocked. So, if you decide to use the Samsung TradeIn do so cautiously and get evidence for yourself of what you have sent. Unfortunately when you submit the trade in it is all done through the Samsung website and the brand name lulled me into a false sense of security
I would have given no stars if I could
I would have given no stars if I could, I sent off my Samsung s10 that was in immaculate condition always protected ,they had it for over 2 weeks without any emails all I got was 2 texts to say they will soon be contacting me through email so I contacted them to see what was happening and they said that they emailed me to let me know my phone had "screen burn" that seems to be their favourite excuse, and that because I didn't respond they had reduced payment to £80 instead of the £110 that was agreed and it had already been paid ,that was ALL LIES I didn't receive any emails or payment from them ,so now I'm left with no phone or no payment. I'm soo angry that I have been ripped off by complete LIARS they are just cowboys and shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. PLEASE NOONE USE THIS "COMPANY" you will only be conned,I'm just disgusted.
SCREEN BURN SCAM>>AVOID<<
I recieved the "screen burn" email from this company after trading in phone via samsung, stating I have to pay a £75 excess, with a picture with arrows pointing to alleged screen burn which shows nothing !. My phone was in perfect condition it doesn't get a lot of use or abused. I have read so many reviews since with most having the same issue. This is just a money making scam. How they get away with it beggars belief. Trading standards will be notified.
Extortion as a business model?
After trading in an immaculate Huawei P20 Pro I was surprised to receive an email with a very indistinct photograph suggesting that the device had damage to the back and requesting a payment to progress.
Looking around there seem to be many complaints about 'fictitious' faults, either the inventory management is poor mixing up devices or this is an attempt to extort payment.
MTR Trade-in Scam - AVOID
MTR handle Samsung Trade-in's - and are absolutely horrendous to deal with. I would avoid both MTR and Samsung because of my experience.
Having had my new phone for a month I received an email requesting a further £75 to repair the screen, which was perfect when I had sent it off. The repair was for a "faulty pixel" which they sent me a tiny picture that didn't even show a faulty pixel.
Horrendous experience and has put me off Samsung entirely.
AVOID THIS COMPANY
My dad always keeps his tech in immaculate condition so when the time came to get a new Laptop - AO suggested MTR for his old laptop. He was offered £65 (not too bad for an old laptop) and we packaged it well, took it to a post office and was told it would be absolutely fine. MTR received this with a cracked screen apparently so then dropped the quote to £10!! We made sure that his pristine condition laptop was well packaged and now once reading all other reviews see that this is an occurring issue with this company! So he has now lost out on his £65 PLUS he has a damaged laptop! It’s an absolute con! It’s also funny that the box we sent it in was brown but it came back in a white box. When I questioned this, we were told that they “rip” the boxes open - so the box was damaged by them!! Like what?!? Just a bunch of liars! AVOID and take your things else where!
Is this a scam?
After receiving a message asking for £75 for screen burn following a trade in, I instantly hit the Internet ro see if anyone else had experienced the same. I am amazed how many people have had the same issue.
I sent in my device knowing there were no issues, so to get a message saying the device was faulty really shocked me.
Screen burn is usually a result of an image being ghosted onto a screen usually because of high brightness and excessive time on the screen.
The grainy image I was shown was not a good enough quality to see this, and if there is screen burn, my device was always used with adaptive brightness and auto screen time off after 30 seconds, this reduces the chance of screen burn massively.
Also the company has had my device for 4 weeks, so why has it taken so long for them to tell me about this? Very, very suspicious!
I'm investigating this further...
One of the worst and most problematic experiences
One of the worst and most problematic experiences dealing with a large business.
MTR Group Limited are the company who handle the trade in discount scheme for items purchased via Samsung.com.
MTR Group's process is appalling. I really mean that. I design processes such as this for large corporates and MTR Group's is not fit for purpose. Guaranteed failure built into the process.
I've paid nearly £2,000 for 2 x Samsung mobile phones, which are now blocked and unusable, with a message stating that the buyer didn't send in a trade in device. This is not true.
I've got photos showing the stages of me packing both devices into a box, a photo of the box ready to be posted with delivery label details visible on the outside, then a Royal Mail tracking ID that shows it was delivered 2 days ago.
Atrocious, appalling, awful service.
Unbelievably dishonest
Absolute scam. I trusted the Samsung name but this was clearly a mistake. I really can't emphasise how disappointed I am with this whole affair and how differently I now view the Samsung brand.
I sent my near perfect Galaxy Note9 in as a part exchange towards a new Galaxy S22Ultra.
Nearly a month after receiving my trade in, they contacted me stating my old device had 'screen burn' and I had to pay them an extra £50. I really look after my phones and know the device was immaculate and fault free when it left me. They have said the screen burn was caused by using the display on full brightness for too long. I never used the screen above a third of its brightness setting!
They are giving me the options to pay the extra they are demanding, pay the trade in price or return the new phone. I am more than prepared to return the new phone and will be taking them up on that offer. Unfortunately that now leaves me in the position where they will return my old phone with a fault, so either way I lose.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a company that I have always preferred to use. This whole experience has been quite simply unbelievable for a global brand and I plead to others to NOT attempt to use this trade in service. I deeply regret my decision to buy directly from Samsung and trying to use their trade in scheme.

I recieved the "screen burn" email from this company after trading in phone via samsung, stating I have to pay a £25 excess. At first I thought it must be a scam as my phone was in perfect condition. I have read from so many reviews I am not the first person to have been sent this email. It has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and I will never use Samsung trade in again whilst they continue to use this company.
Scammers and Liars.
I never leave reviews for anything however this company had the cheek to send me an email to say 'Back cover is cracked.' and expect me to pay £75 for this.
My device was in near perfect coniditon as only had it for just over a year (with a few minor finger marks on the screen but comes off with a wipe)
They've had my device for over 20 days and somehow a back cover has magically cracked.
Cheek of this company to ask for £75 for something they can't even send me 'evidence' correctly as no picture is attached to the email they've sent asking for this sum.
Samsung needs to use a different company, MTR are clearly awful and there isn't a chance i'm paying for something they've clearly done.

Sent my phone yesterday just received an email the money will be in tonight as long as it is the service is excellent
Highly recommend
I got a quote for trade in on my iPhone…
I got a quote for trade in on my iPhone 11 on Tuesday. The package to send my phone to MTR arrived yesterday and I posted it yesterday. It arrived with MTR this morning and they emailed me to say they had it and they would assess it and let me know the outcome today. They Emailed me again to confirm the value of £240 was confirmed as agreed. They again emailed at 4pm to say the money would be in my bank within the next 2 hours. I’ve just checked and the full amount has been credited to my account. First class and very efficient service.
