IF THINKING OF TRADING IN WITH SAMSUNG. THINK AGAIN....Purchased s22 traded in s20. Phone was under 2 years old and received email from recycle dept stating burnscreen. Phone was in really good condition and then to be told have to pay 75 excess to get fixed. Samsung advert to trade in didnt mention screen burn. if i knew burn screen was a thing i could have got fixed for a lot cheaper then 75. Which was confirme, by the 3rd party samsung use to trade in their phone. Plus never had a problem with screen in the whole 2 years i had phone. samsung sold phone with screens not good for purpose or scam going on. Called customer services who told me this had to be paid. Not happy with trade

Never ever use Samsung for trade in as long as they are using MTR group. MTR group has no standrads about how they determine the value. There were 2 options on samsung website one for broken screen and other for not broken screen. My phone was fine while trading but due to accident I cracked my screen. MTR group now value my phone way below what was advertised for a faulty device on samsung website. No proper response to why they have undervalued the phone and no replies for emails on why they have lowered the value. Its so stressful if things go wrong and you may spend weeks not months. On top of this Samsung will lock your device

I recently went for trade in to buy A Samsung s22 ultra. Sent my S9 in a perfect condition with no so called burnt screen. Few days ago I received email with picture taken with a potato where you hardly can tell anything telling that my phones screen is burnt and now i need to pay excess of 25£ . The excess is not an issue in this case but the fact that they trying to charge you for something that is entirely not your fault but the way samsung screens are made. Seams like samsung is fine with loosing customers over some "scam" I would like to hear what trading standards have to say about it .thanks for great service

I read what people were saying only to find out that it was actually true. My phone was actually in good condition it even had the plastic protection still on the back with the serial number, no marks no screen issues only to be told that i need to pay £25.00 as I have wait for it ....Screen burn!!!! my phone had NO screen issues at all. total rip off why are samsung allowing these crooks to scam their users? Next time I will use CEX at least you know what you will get back.

Phone was pretty much perfect and had been inspected the previous day by CEX for a trade in price - no faults found. The price was just a tad more that Samsung but I felt it would be safer dealing direct, sent phone off, after a week I was advised it had screen burn and needed to pay a £25 excess direct to MTR, they had attached an extremely low res image which was impossible to make out. Challenged them but no response. Complained to Samsung who then sent an attachment, this was another low res image of the Samsung logo!! Now using bully boy tactics saying new phone can be locked unless I send the £25, absolute disgrace. Screen burn is very rare and you would need to leave the screen with images for days on end to burn a modern screen, BUT it is the most common "fault" found by MTR, the fact they do not engage and Samsung do not want to know leaves you high and dry, absolute con. DO NOT USE, trade in over the counter, probably get a better price anyway.

Avoid at all costs! Offered me £165 for phone. Phone sent to them in IMMACULATE condition, not a mark on it as always been in a case. I was then offered just £75 because of an “apparent” light on the screen. I have pics of the phone just before sending and the phone was mint! I declined the offer (obviously) and I am still waiting for the phone to be returned. The phone that they have damaged to con me out of money. They are hoping people can’t be bothered and just accept their ridiculously low offer! I’d rather chuck it in the drawer than be robbed by this company.

After trading in my old S8 I received an email from MTR group saying there was screen-burn and a request for a £25 charge-back. The phone was in extremely good condition when it was sent however they are stating there is screen-burn of the notification bar of the phone that I traded in. However, even in the extremely low-resolution image they provided as evidence, screen-burn could not be seen.

The fact that an image of such awful quality was provided as 'evidence' is very concerning and reflects on MTR's terrible service. It has become evident that this is a tactic MTR have tried to use on many Samsung customers who may not have known otherwise to scam them for their money.

Sent my Samsung S8 as part of the Samsung Trade-In scheme. Received £80 plus £150 bonus payment. Really easy to do and received the money within 24 hours of them emailing to say my phone passed the inspection! From start to finish the whole process took less than 1 week. Really impressed!

I recently traded in my phone through Samsung recycle after purchasing a new one with mobile direct. The service was excellent I received the return pack with prepaid postage labels. I sent the phone off and the next day I got a email to say the phone had been received and was getting checked. After a few hours I received another email to tell me my phone had passed the quality checks and funds would be transferred to my account that day. I received the full quote without any excesses to pay. I can't fault the service at all.

I cannot give a lower review not that they care. absolute scam.

I bought a Samsung tablet from ao.com rather than an alternative supplier because I could trade-in my old Samsung S3 tablet for £70. I posted the tablet complete with S pen to MTR Group Ltd. Over a period of one week MTR sent me three emails claiming that I hadn't supplied the S pen and as a result I would only receive £50. I replied to each of these emails stating that I had included the S pen with the tablet. I didn't receive any reply or acknowledgement.

I now see many others have had a similarly bad service from MTR. See, for example: reviews here, on eu.community.samsung.com, Google, mamma.com and on moneysavingexpert.com

As others have said, MTR is a company that should be avoided because they do not honour their promises and do not respond to emails.

Traded in a Samsung s7 for a new mobile from Samsung. Received an email stating s7 had severe screen burn which included a very low resolution picture. I explained mobile was working perfectly before I sent it and asked for better pictures showing my IMEI number. They responded with a long explanation about how screen burn can occur and asked me to refer to pic previously sent. Asked for £25 to complete transaction which I paid as I couldn’t be bothered going round in circles with them. Left a bitter taste as I felt I had been scammed. Seems I’m not the only one!! Samsung should really be having a look at this trading partner before they lose any more future customers.

High amount of stress caused by dealing with this company and still not resolved. Tried to do a mobile phone trade-in with Samsung.com, I completed my side of the bargain, however, they've locked my new phone without justifiable reason and no ability to contact them. I'm now left trying to dispute the purchase with my credit card company.

Sent my old working iPhone 7 and received all the emails stating that the trade-in has been accepted but no payment. It has been over a month of emails and phone calls but no response. Avoid at all cost!

I wish that I had read all the reviews from dissatisfied customers beforehand. Its been 3 weeks now and I still haven't received my money from the trade in. MTR deliberately does not pick up the phone when I called on numerous occasions, they do not respond to emails either. But yet they are quick to collect the phone. I have been scammed by MTR yet this company are still trading. Mobile Phones Direct had to escalate my complaint and they are now trying to get hold of the company but they are not responding to them either. They will be taking further action against them. If you are reading this MTR you are dishonest. I give you O ratings.

I wanted to trade in my apple 6 watch for a new series 7 via AO.com. I was quoted £180 For my watch which I accepted. The next day I received the address label and bag to return it in. I used Special Delivery to send it on the same day. On the next day receipt of watch was acknowledged and later the same day the £180 was in my bank account. First class service.

Trade in phone to purchase new Samsung S21. They received my phone, processed it and sent me confirmation emails to say its all been completed. The day after the trade in window ended, my phone was locked with a message saying its linked to an incomplete trade in order. Several emails and contact to get this resolved only to be told its been escalated internally. Now 10 days later, still phone is locked and unable to use it. Have no other phone either due to trading in old phone. Absolute joke.

I don't know how Samsung get away with using this company. Complete thieves, frauds, liars and outright criminals.

Like so many other customers we have been ripped off by this cowboy outfit when trading in 2 Samsung phones for new models. As others have reported, our phones 'apparently 'developed screen burn while in transit by Royal Mail Special Delivery servcice - and so are worth £25 less than we were offered.

This group are a joke. I received this from them on 13th October after sending them my S9 which was immaculate condition, it was like brand new!!

Upon inspection of your device we found the following fault:

Device Faulty – Screen burn; - Navigation bar visible on default background.

Well I have sent emails asking for a larger picture of back and front but to date I have not received what I asked.
I left a review on Samsung Re-Cycle which I was asked to remove as it was nothing to with this Company.
