Terrible experience. They didn't have the soup or fish and chips in stock for the lunchtime meal deal, so I ended up ordering something I didn't really want. They still had the old menu with the old p... Mehr ansehen

We worked for this company and to put it politely i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The manager where we was wasn't fit to be a manager seems like all the staff everywhere in a marston's pub are the same from what i have read. They even get own staff to leave 5*reviews which we don't think gives other's the real feel to the place. Also noticed any bad reviews of the place are removed.
Chalkhill Blue pub in Andover
Chalkhill Blue pub in Andover
Absolute joke of a pub, don’t bother wasting your time. Their website shows they are a World Cup pub and I went inside to watch the game to find out their TV was not working. The solution, the staff watched it on their phones. I then tried to order food noting other customers numbering just 6. The answer, we are not doing food for walk ins as we only have one chef so it’s people who have booked a table only. Bear in mind there was hardly anyone in there and nobody was eating. Staff seemed happy as there was hardly anyone in there and as no England game was being shown they had very little to do. Very poor customer service and their webpage should remove all mention of the World Cup. I would also remove the menu options as there wasn’t any for me. Do yourself a favour and just go anywhere but here
False advertising
False advertising. Advertise selling carlsberg lager £2.95 Monday to Thursday, yet, coming to watch the England game and it’s £4.20.
Disgraceful shall be reporting. Screenshot for proof and no T&Cs
The Sun Pub
The Sun Pub, Romsley Halesowen; food was very nice but appears to be severely under staffed with only one serving at the bar, this is clearly a busy establishment. Duty Manager has got a very bad attitude. Not only did she reprimand a member of staff in full view of customers she also snapped at a customer who told her what to do with her attitude. She clearly does not have the required skill set for such a demanding job.
Reinstate the weekday Carlsberg £2.95…MARSTONS ARE A RIP OFF!!.
Reinstate the weekday Carlsberg £2.95 offer and actually get some customers back.Marstons drinks prices are absolute extortion and a complete and utter rip off!.My friends and i simply could nt believe what prices they were asking for a pint of beer.We had one drink and went elsewhere for much better value and choice.YOU ARE A DISGRACE MARSTONS!.
Visited Hurley flyer in Morecambe
Visited Hurley flyer in Morecambe. Main portions were of starter size. Sunday lunch - well the “roast potatoes’ appeared brown however they had not seen an oven. Covered in gravy browning possibly. No sign of being crispy just boiled. The roast beef was so chewy it curled up on the plate. Never asked if the food was ok. Waitresses came to take plates so I tried to explain about the alleged “roast” potatoes and she just said ok no apologies or anything. Gravy was just brown water with no taste. You try to complain on website but it does nothing just sends you round in circles so you can’t complain. I attended afternoon of 21st June. Not overly busy and I now know why. Save your money and stay at home!

Sadly having recently changed their menus at the TyMawr and Ffynnon Wen Cardiff prices have been increased, choice reduced and quantity on the plate also reduced. I also get the impression that the number of staff available to provide a professional prompt service may have also reduced.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Talardy Inn - St Asaph
The vilest and rudest ‘manager’ I’ve ever come across.
We turned up having booked a week in advance.
The man who took the booking was super friendly and accommodating. I advised that we would have 4-5 dogs with us and he said that was fine we can sit in the ‘hard floored’ area of the dining area.
I also received a text message the day before asking me to confirm the booking - which I did.
On arrival my family entered before me and were dismissively informed that there was someone sat at our table so we couldn’t sit there. My cousin told them that we’d booked, and was told ‘yes we know, but we’ve sat those people there so you can’t sit there’. My cousin was a bit taken aback at the rudeness, and reiterated that we had a booking. Again she was told, ‘yes but we’ve sat those people there, they have the dog area now so you can’t have it’.
So what’s the point in booking? They knew about our booking and made a decision to ignore it and book someone else in, they also made a conscious decision not to contact us and let us know that they’d decided to cancel our booking to make room for a walk-in.
When I arrived I went in to explain that I’d booked a week ago, that the man I spoke to confirmed that we could sit in the dining area with the dogs.
Her response ‘well it’s not come through and it’s not our fault’. It clearly had come through as she’d already told my cousin that they knew about the booking but just chose to give the table to someone else anyway.
I was a bit thrown by her tone which was clearly blaming us because they’d messed up the booking.
I pointed out that no one had apologised and that they were being very dismissive. I got a full Kevin and Perry head wobble and a sarcastic ‘well I’m verrrrry sorrrry’.
Honestly like something from a bad sitcom. I nearly laughed in her face. I’m surprised she didn’t say ‘talk to the hand’.
I asked who the manager was, she said it was her. I asked where I should go if I wanted to complain about her specifically as it was like she was putting major effort into being as vile as possible towards us. She said I could email her 🤣🤣.
This explains her attitude. Woman given a bit of power and no consequences. The highlight of her week is clearly being nasty to people she knows have no control of a situation. I dread to think how her staff feel. None of them seemed surprised by her behaviour.
I would advise anyone against visiting this pub.
Over priced crap !!
I had the misfortune to attend the Black Lion Pub in Cardiff Road Llandaff this evening with my sister. I am over in Cardiff to visit family and as my sister lives in Fairwater she suggested we go to Llandaff for a meal, She suggested the Malsters Arms however I persuaded her to go to the Black Lion as I have been in Australia for 35 years and had (note past tense) fond memories of the Black Lion while a student at Llandaff tech as it was. I had a so-called chicken burger which was over priced at over 10 quid (paid extra for the cheese) and undersized (could get bigger in Macdonalds at half the price) with no chips. My understanding is my sister is providing her own feedback regarding her traumatic experience with some rubbish posing as a chicken curry. Prior to receiving the so- called meals I remarked to the barman (who for the record was very polite and helpful and apologised for the Sh..t that was served up) about the importance of ensuring local pubs remain part of the community. My only hope is that this scam masquarading as traditional pub food is removed from a community that deserves. If there was a rating less than one star I would use it !!!
Go to KFC or Macdonalds
Skylark Taunton
Drove in and discussed KFC, Macdonalds and the Skylark. Decided we wanted something a little better than take away (mistake one) greeted by someone who could hardly be bothered to pass on all the relevant info regarding ordering etc. Food delivered by someone who looked quite scruffy (wonder if they know what an iron is?) Burger looked like they had run across the road and got it from the Macdonalds we ruled out and the “buttery” baked potato was dry with a spoonful of the filling dropped on the top. On balance the 2 stars seems fairer than the one I want to give as the seats were comfy. Poor value for money. Go to one of the fast food places where you will get what you pay for!
Hunstanton
We visited Hunstanton on Thursday and had a very lovely meal. Staff were very friendly (Yasmine and Steph). It’s lovely that the pub is dog friendly too. I think overall the food and price were very good and we will visit again!

As a cask ale drinkers I was surprised to be told in a Marstons pub that they don't sell Marstons pedigree (what a joke).I listened to all the febel excuses none of them wash with me. Marstons arrogant dismissive attitude towards cask ale drinkers smacks of pleasing share holders rather than the customer. I will never use a Marston pub again. Trying to press gang ale drinkers to change to alternative drink solely in the name of profit has meant loss of costom.pub is short for public house but Marstons pen pushers wouldn't understand or even want to understand that. What ever happened to the customer comes first !
Chequers Inn, Dalton
Chequers Inn, Dalton. Recently been taken over by Marstons. Prior to this it was a traditional country pub serving home made Sunday lunches, they were known for the welcoming friendly atmosphere and good home cooked food where you would struggle to get a table if you didn’t book in advance, since being taken over and restrictions placed on the amazing staff it has now lost a lot of regulars who did not want the frozen food the staff were forced to serve! You should let the staff bring back the full home cooked food, including the home made desserts and specials, that is what made the place so popular along with the amazing staff!
Rated a 3 purely because of the staff, and thank the lord for the them!
We visited the Mary Dilwyn pub in…
We visited the Mary Dilwyn pub in Swansea on Monday 27th April 2026. We were greeted by a very pleasant lady who showed to our seats and took our drinks order, I did not get her name but she was lovely. The young man who took our food order was equally pleasant and professional. When the food arrived one of the meals was very overcooked and we returned it and the complaint was dealt with professionally by another lady who agreed that the steak was overcooked and she took the cost of the meal off the bill. My husband had ordered a mixed grill and the meal was also overcooked, the yolk of the egg was solid, it appears that the food was left under a lamp for too long. I took the plate to the same lady who I had dealt with previously and simply said this one is overcooked as well. She immediately went into a rage and said that there was not way that she was going to take that meal off the bill and said that she had watched as my husband was trying the different meats and he had actually eaten some of the meal, whilst I would not dispute that some of the meal had been eaten as one would when trying the food. I said to her that I was merely asking her to acknowledge that the meal was overcooked and she barely let me get a word in. She then came to our table and instead of trying to make things amenable she continued to be confrontational and rude, this was extremely embarrassing. The young man who had been dealing with us came over and did his best to calm her down but she was intent on wielding her authority, she told us that she was the Manager and that we would no longer be welcome in 'her' pub. She referred to my husband as 'an old man' which was totally inappropriate. She also claimed that my husband swore at her and I can honestly say that he did not swear, he was simply asking her for a resolution. I found out later that here name is Sophia and apparently this type of behaviour is not unusual.
We have been frequent visitors to the pub since it opened and we are not looking for compensation, but as long as Sophia works there we will not be returning.
Absolute disgusting service
RedHawk brough
Absolute disgusting service , attitude, customer service from Karl one of the most unprofessional managers I’ve ever come across, it’s not the 1st time we have been on the receiving end when he clearly can’t cope with a busy pub.
5 of us ordered food told 1.5hrs wait , that’s ok as we wasn’t in a rush , the remaining 2 ordered told bluntly no finished at 7.30pm!! At point of the evening from our arrival at 5pm was we told they was stopping early & there was no notices displayed anywhere.
The remaining to of our group had to go without, we consider ourselves regulars going in anywhere from 3-7 times a week, we have a good rep our with the other girls behind the bar , Pauline , Lydia & Leanne very hardworking & professional, unfortunately due to Karl we will be taking our custom elsewhere!!
Admirals Table Bridgwater-The table…
Admirals Table Bridgwater-The table service was good but…
Prawn cocktail starter-the bread was dry as if just defrosted-slightly picky but missing a lemon wedge.
The buttered Tuna mayo jacket potato was missing both butter and mayonnaise, the salad leaves were old and brown and missing the red onion and dressing. The potato was over microwaved and dry.

Had a meal with wife and son and food was delicious apart from the chef/cook not knowing the difference between spinach leaves and shredded lettuce. Wife had carvery and my son and I had menu and almost everything was lovely.
Staff were very friendly atentative and polite.

I went to this pub for a meal & during the meal I had a choking incident & none of the staff helped during this. My wife tried to help by slapping my back to try to dislodge the blockage to no avail then I ran outside & managed to cough the piece of food up while being sick at the same time. Then a member of staff came out to me to offer me a glass of water which I declined. My worry is this could happen again with even worse results.

9th April myself friend husband went to Redsails in Hull whilst having our meal my husband began chocking I tried to dislodge what what stuck in his throat he began panicking as any one would managed to go outside the pub n coughing which eventually he was able to remove the food by vomiting Nobody from the staff came to his assistance only after the fact. A waitress asked me if he was chocking properly told her yes and nobody came to help I have emailed and still not had a satisfactory outcome from this
Food is good
Food is good. Great scones! Started charging to replace mash potatoes and spinach with vegetables. Not just $1.00 but $12.00. As a result we will rarely dine there any more. Seems a bit short sighted to squabble about a few vegetables when we spend $80 per visit. We used to go 2 to 3 times a month. That's $160 to $240 a month they will no longer be getting all over broccoli. If you want Chicken and vegetables go to Olive Garden or Islands. Olive Garden offers it with a salad and bread as well.
