**No treatment provided, full payment retained, and disappointing complaint handling**

I had a very disappointing experience with JG Pest Control following an appointment at my property on 23 July 2025.

I contacted the company regarding a suspected wasp infestation and showed the attending technician clear evidence, including more than 50 dead wasp-like insects and several live ones. Despite this, no treatment was carried out. The technician said there was nothing he could do, yet I was still charged £167.99.

I subsequently contacted the company to request a reasonable partial refund, believing it was unfair to retain the entire payment when no pest control treatment had been performed.

After I left a one-star Google review, the company responded publicly, apologising for my experience and inviting me to contact their office directly, promising to investigate the matter as a priority and put things right.

I took them up on that offer. Unfortunately, the outcome was disappointing. They refused to provide any refund, explaining that their standard call-out charge was £150 plus VAT (£180), covering attendance, travel and assessment. However, my invoice did not identify the £167.99 payment as a call-out charge, and this explanation only came after I challenged the amount. They also cited the fact that approximately 15 months had passed since the appointment as a reason for refusing a refund.

I understand that a technician's attendance and assessment may incur a charge, and I never disputed that someone had attended my property. My concern is that I paid a substantial amount for a pest control service, received no treatment, and was subsequently told that the entire payment was justified regardless of the outcome.

What disappointed me most was the contrast between the company's public response, which gave the impression that they genuinely wanted to resolve my complaint, and the outcome when I contacted them privately. Although they were under no obligation to guarantee a refund simply by inviting me to get in touch, their response created an expectation that my concerns would be meaningfully addressed. Ultimately, nothing changed.

Based on my experience, I was left questioning whether the public response was intended to resolve a customer's complaint or simply to reassure potential customers reading negative reviews.

I would advise anyone considering using JG Pest Control to clarify exactly what they will be charged if the technician cannot carry out any treatment, and to ensure the applicable call-out terms are clear before booking.

Prompt, informed and caring response to messages. Upgraded appointment to urgent after my concern expressed regarding the rat issue at the home of my elderly, visually impaired mother. Operator arrived early, was polite, had solutions and job done within a short space of time. No, it wasn’t cheap but it was a great relief to us all just to get the situation sorted

Polite technician who worked quickly

The job to stop the wasps beneath the roof and above upstairs window top of the was carried out very quickly and efficiently.
The lads were very informative and helpful. and gave good advice.

Lovely lady explained everything. Shifted large furniture to get everywhere. Left everything tidy. Called us when she finished and told us when to return. Even moved the cats toys. Would be happy to have her back if it was needed. Thanks Gemma

I was having a problem with things being nibbled overnight. Alistair came the next day and left lots of little pots of bait, and found a probable entrance hole which he blocked. He was very positive and encouraging that the problem would soon be sorted.
