Professional teamwork.

From start to finish in the buying and selling process, the team at Gibbons Richards was professional, efficient and approachable. They kept us informed at every stage and answered all our queries promptly. We couldn't have wished for a better team of people, all working together with the same goal.

Professional and helpful.

My experience was at the Taunton office. Beth took the lead, with other team members also helping. All were very professional, friendly and helpful, taking time to really know our requirements and those of our buyers, and keeping in close contact at every stage. There were some complexities on the way, which were dealt with proactively and calmly. Overall, we had a very positive experience. Thank you.

Excellent sales experience

A great viewing of a property in Wellington by Jackie from the Wellington office. Jackie took time to understand the history of the house and current vendors. She answered all my questions and was very knowledgeble about the area. Good emotional intelligence in understanding what I was looking for. First class.

Exhausting and poor service

Very difficult to write a review but the experience as a whole was very poor. My first view of the property I was interested in I was shown around by someone who knew nothing about the property so any questions we initially had could not be answered.

Second visit was with Tom who again had poor knowledge of the property. I explained that I would have a electrician with me to look at the property who was coming from another town and to check that the electric had credit before we arrived so it could be checked however this was not done so no electrics could be checked.
When a offer was made on the property I was told by Tom that the offer was not acceptable and the seller had told him not to consider lower than x amount however this offer was later excepted Tom then stated as long as we didn't change the price later.
The house when we moved in was extremely unhygienic skips had to be hired to remove possessions and rubbish from the property something gwhich I was assured had been removed by gibbins Richards a very poor experience throughout.

Nicola however was wonderful so polite and helpful she is a credit to the bridgwater branch however everything else in the process of the purchase was so poor hence the rating.

Senior Negotiator Prepared To Break The Rules

We bought a property in Bridgwater through Gibbins Richards Estate Agent. All went well until the moving in day when we had problems with the electric garage door not working. Not only was the electrics not working, but because this had been broken for so long, the manual winder was also broken.
Whilst trying to work out how we were going to unload our vans, we thought we would make a cup of tea only to learn when we turned on the mains water we had major leaks both in the kitchen and in the utility room.

We understand that both of these problems would not usually be the estate agents problem however in this case it was directly linked to the estate agent.

The vendor was the mother of Gibbins Richards Senior Negotiator Tom Hopkins. On the moving day Tom was at the property helping his mother move out and was probably aware of the issues with the garage door and the plumbing. I believe Tom and his mother sneaked off before I could address the issues with the garage door leaving us unable to open the door to move our belongings in. When we turned on the water at the mains it soon became apparent that they had not only left us with a garage door that couldn’t be opened, but they had also left us with water we couldn’t turn on.

If Tom is happy for us to be left in this state, I wonder how he could be trusted to negotiate on your behalf. I would say from our experience that the Gibbins Richard representative has been untrustworthy. My impression is that he probably thought we would never make the link between the sale of his mothers house and him.

Whilst the directors of the company advised that this was a problem that the solicitors should deal with as the non working garage door was not mentioned in the legal pack, they gave the impression that they wanted to distance themselves from the link between Tom and the sale of the house.

I don’t agree and I would say the link is very strong and whilst they say Tom had nothing to do with the sale of the house, Tom certainly would have known that the garage door should have been mentioned, also Tom Hopkins was at the property on the move day and could well have been responsible for the removal of the washing machines/dishwashers leaving the water uncapped.

I wonder how much Tom knows about the house market because whilst looking at the water leak it was clear that the plumbing was in an extremely poor condition and there was no water trap under the sink.
It then became very apparent why the house, mainly the kitchen smelt of sewerage.

A Note For Tom
The UK Building Regulations require that any appliance, which discharges water to a drain, such as a wash hand basin; bath; shower; kitchen sink or WC, should be fitted with a trap. This is to prevent foul gases from the drainage system from entering the building.

This is now in the hands of my solicitor

I don’t know how Tom Hopkins, who was directly involved with the moving of his mother did not recognise that there were problems here that were not acceptable. Although he might not have actually overseen the selling of his mothers house, to believe he was not aware of these issues is pure fantasy especially as he was around on the day his mother moved out helping her move furniture.

One other point for Tom. You are supposed to clear up all your rubbish before you leave and to say the rubbish left at the garage was left there by someone else is actually quite funny. If it is on your property it is your rubbish, another lesson learned for Tom.

It’s a shame that a Senior negotiator at Gibbins Richard can either be ignorant to the rules or just happy to break them, but in either case it is not acceptable.

Taunton lettings team were horrific

I found the Taunton lettings team really poor - they do not operate a first come policy which is unfair on anyone requiring somewhere to live and may be in a desperate situation. I've reported this now, and have no doubt they will try and discredit this review, they were incredibly rude in an email too. It was difficult to make contact with them all this morning and their system accumulates peoples information and they group applications to be compared against. They can do this because they know demand is high.

It's really bad; anywhere else would work a first come, first serve then be accessed for suitability and application then submitted to the landlord for approval. It was a shame because the property's in Geoffrey Farrant Walk, and Allington Close - I wanted to pay the tenancy & deposit in advance so I wouldn't be left homeless. I strongly recommend avoiding these purely based on their approach and any conscious landlords with any form of morals, go elsewhere.
