Having used our local branch in Maidstone for my mothers funeral 7 years previous I didn't hesitate to use them when my father died this year. Verity who made the arrangements was very helpful and understanding and it was straightforward to arrange as we already had a burial plot. I was disappointed with the celebrant this time. I got the distinct impression he had too much work to manage. I expected a final draft of the service that we had made amendments to from his first submission to us but though I requested I didn't receive. Not much was suggested by him regarding words at the graveside except the lord's prayer. His spoken delivery of some poetry we chose wasn't very satisfactory either. I did give feedback to Verity regarding this and I understand that they won't use this celebrant anymore. All in all the staff employed at the branch were very good and I would give them 5 stars but the celebrant was certainly underwhelming compared to our previous experience.

It was such fun buying my funeral plan but I didn’t receive an email confirmation. I requested one. Received it and FOUR copies in the post

My family organised my brother’s funeral with Co-op funeral care Carlisle. From the moment we walked in and had our initial meeting with Nicki everything was done with care, support, patience and kindness. Above all, the funeral arrangements felt personal and individual and they fully respected the family’s wishes.
Communication whether in person, on the phone or by email was clear and concise and always provided with a caring tone.
On the day of the funeral the family felt fully supported by very clear plans and arrangements. The staff were very friendly and professional. Again Nicki’s presence added a lovely personal touch.
All in all we highly recommend the funeral care provided by Co-op Carlisle. Thank you to Nicki and the team.

The dealing of my mother's funeral wasn't a problem in itself, but the treatment I've had with them afterwards has been awful!
Months after the funeral they called to tell me they had 'missed' something off the bill and I owed them another £85.
I asked for this in writing and didn't hear back from them (it turns out they were sending letters to the wrong address). Months later I received a phone call supposedly from their credit team from someone who could barely speak English insisting that I give my personal details for 'security' reasons, even though it was them calling me.
I have now received 'notice of intention to recover debt' which magically was sent to the correct address!
All this is long after my mother's estate has been settled so if it goes to court I'll have to pay it myself.
The only reason we used co op funeralcare was because my mother had a policy with them that should have covered everything.

Co-op Funeral Services in Horsham guided our family through an incredibly difficult time with warmth, compassion and professionalism. From our first conversation to the funeral itself, the service was personal, thoughtful and carefully tailored to our needs. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and the team worked hard to ensure every detail was just right.

They handled much of the administration for us, remained readily available and provided valuable emotional support throughout. Jill, our excellent celebrant, took great care to ensure Mum’s eulogy was perfect and reflected her life and personality beautifully.

On the day, Karen was an exceptional Funeral Director, ensuring everything ran smoothly, respectfully and with warmth. The whole team worked together to arrange the perfect flowers and even made sure the pallbearers wore yellow ties in honour of Mum’s favourite colour. These personal touches meant so much to our family.

It was wonderful to see the Co-op network working so seamlessly, with Gill from the Brighton Co-op collaborating with Karen, Ana and Rianna from the Horsham team. We received all the resources and reliability of a national organisation, delivered with the kindness, flexibility and personal attention of a family business. Everyone involved was genuinely caring, and we felt supported at every stage. We recommend them wholeheartedly.

Lynn and Katie at the Taunton Co-op funeral care were caring, kind and respectful and made the whole process easier. They helped us to fulfil the wishes of my husband and had endless patience when the date had to be changed several times. On the day the service was as near to perfect as it could have been and Katie made it very intimate for us as there were only four people as per my husband's wishes. All the 'back room' staff did a wonderful job as well. Couldn't have asked for more.

Very thorough, efficient and friendly

The Coop are a reputable brand and can be trusted to provide the best quality and reliable service to their customers. We shopped around and found them to be the best all round for what we required. You can pay monthly as well to suit your budget, and can pay off more if you wish to do so. You just have to let them know how much you want to pay off and they will confirm your new payment, thank you Coop for a lovely experience considering the circumstances.

We are brother and sister and we recently used Co-op Funeralcare on Huddersfield Road, Barnsley for our Mum's funeral. We met with the lovely Danielle there and she fully explained everything in detail with sympathy and understanding. Any changes to arrangements closer to the day were handled without any fuss at all. On the day our Mum was brought to her address in Stairfoot, Barnsley for a respectful ten minutes in the hearse outside her home then on to Ardsley Church for the service then burial. All staff present on the day were outstanding, particularly Danielle. She is a real asset to your business. Thank you. N & B.

I would never recommend Co-op Funeralcare based on my experience.
Following the loss of my twin babies, my husband and I entrusted Co-op Funeralcare with one of the most heartbreaking and important moments of our lives. Sadly, we were met with a complete lack of compassion, communication and respect throughout the process.
I appreciate that funerals are part of your day-to-day work, but the funeral of two babies is not routine. It is an unimaginable tragedy, and families deserve to be treated with kindness, dignity and empathy. At no point did we feel that our loss was acknowledged in the way it should have been.
We repeatedly had to chase for updates, our concerns were ignored, communication was poor, and we felt pressured into purchasing items at an already devastating time. Hidden costs were not made clear, adding unnecessary stress when we were at our most vulnerable. Rather than feeling supported, we felt like customers being processed through a service.
What hurts the most is that memories of our twins' funeral, which should have been a chance to say goodbye with love and dignity, have now been overshadowed by the way we were treated. That is something no grieving parent should ever have to live with.
The lack of empathy and respect shown has been deeply upsetting, and despite raising formal complaints on multiple occasions, the silence and lack of accountability have only added to our distress.
Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare. Losing two babies is beyond words. Families experiencing that level of grief deserve exceptional care, patience and compassion—not poor communication, pressure, hidden costs and indifference.
I sincerely hope Co-op Funeralcare reflects on how bereaved families, especially those saying goodbye to babies, are treated in the future, because no one should leave a funeral carrying additional pain caused by the very people entrusted to help them through it.

My meeting took about 45minutes. The lady was very respectful.Clear & professional in explaining everything to me.No one looks forward to doing this, but I felt it was the right thing for me & she understood my wishes.Thank you CO-OP.

Everything was explained clearly when we purchased our funeral plans plus all our questions were answered.

Just a very smart, quietly spoken man, explained everything thoroughly, wouldnt have minded being offereda cup of tea though, from the receptionist it was a very hot day, but thats not a bad mark, just wistfulness
lol. I did , however, get a glass of water when I asked.

Helen was extremely helpful and explained everything clearly.

I made an appointment with an agent regarding paying for my own funeral, as I have just lost my husband, trying to find the extra costs was really difficult. So I decided that I didn't want my grown children to face the same issues and decided to take a policy out with co-op.
From start to finish it was a smooth transition, and an excellent price. So now I can sit back & not worry about my children having to find the funds, which I have learnt the last problem you want whilst dealing with a loss is figuring out how to pay for it.
