Bad customer service
Have been a customer with city bins for over 8 years. Some issues during this time with bins occasionally not being collected and having to wait 2 weeks for same bins to be emptied, bit overall nothing to much to manage. All was good until it wasn't. I had an agreement for them to take monthly payment from my bank. First became aware there was an issue in Feb, when I was abroad and received an email regarding overdue payment. I explained my payment method and that I was abroad and would be flying in during the next week. I inquired as to the reason the payment hadn't been collected and received a follow up email stating the had tried contacting me on an old phone number and by letter and email, but no explanationof what had occured and what had happened with my banking details. I arrived home to no bins, and a letter repeating they had tried contacting me from start on Feb, although the emails only arrived towards end of Feb. The last contact was an basic 2 sentance job asking me to contact if I was interested in staying with them. Strange way to deal with a long time customer, and still no answer to me quiries as to my bank details and what went wrong there.
Unreliable Service
Every other month I have to contact them and ask why hasn't my bin been collected. Not only do they often just not show up. But on multiple occasions when they have, they just ignore my bin. It's been captured on my door cam. They always schedule a pick up later in the week. BUT I still have to waste my time raising this issue over and over again.

I’m moved house and closed my account, I cancelled my direct debit and yet again they went into my account and tried to charge me 63 euros for rubbish that doesn’t even belong to me, AVOID THESE SCAMMERS LIKE THE PLAGUE

The most genuinely appalling customer service experience I have ever had. I had issues with the payment set up from day one and was paying my bills off a text I received every month. I had an agent call me and try to resolve the issue. At this point I set up a payment and no longer received messages to pay the balance. Last week my bins were not collected with zero communication. I rang to cancel and asked them to send a final invoice for any balance. They went into my account this morning and took over 200 euro in an unauthorised transaction and essentially admitted that they were in the wrong as they had the correct details all along for payment.
Slow to refund
They took an annual payment from me, despite the fact that I'd told them that I was finished using their service. When I contacted their customer service section about this, I was told that I'd be refunded within 10 days; I'm still chasing them for the money.
I had no issues for years
I had no issues for years, but in the last few weeks the service has been extremely poor. Our bins keep getting swapped with our neighbours' bins and now we all have the wrong numbers. Plus the grey bin wasn't collected two weeks ago.

Bin never collected on time since the day we signed up with them. We have to chase them every week for collection. We have been told they will call us back about the collection, never received any calls back. Rang up few time asked to speak to manager/supervisor. They are always in a meeting and will ring us back. Spending at least 2h a week on hold to get through. Been promised refund and after been told management decided to not grant the refund. Absolut waste of money and time. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM.
No collection yesterday
No collection yesterday, 5th of November, of the grey bin. And no communication either. Neighbours' bins not emptied also. Did City Bin forget a whole estate? Westbury, Lucan.
Terrible Service lately will not be using them anymore
Wont collect waste bin for another 2 weeks - I dont know what has happened to this company used to be so easy to deal with - texts the night before bin collection - texts to remind when payment is due - now nothing - then leave my black bin at the side of the road and wont arrange a collection untill 2 weeks away - terrible service on the phone -useless already changed provider
Didn't collect my green bin (again)
Didn't collect my green bin (again). Customer service promised to call back to reschedule....but lied and didn't call or reschedule collection.
I had no room remaining in our green bin so I put the extra into the grey bin.
City Bins increased my next invoice for exceeding their Fair Usage policy by a few kilos because of the previous week's uncollected bin.
I called again and was told they would remove the extra charge from the invoice and that a Manager would look at my complaint and contact me.
No manager has called since but today City Bins have not collected our brown bin.
City Bins used to be a good company but I've been waiting over 10 minutes on the phone for an answer. Always problems these days.

I visited today 5/10/2024 to drop off my recycling and waste as I do every 5weeks ...and a really helpful young man assisted me in getting a heavier bag frm the car into the skip and I was very grateful for his help...then he said that they were giving away soil bags to customers and would I like some...I'm delighted as he put 2 into my car looked at his watch and said we will be closing soon would you like a couple more ....fantastic I told him as I'm a keen gardener.
I've always found City Bin staff really friendly and helpful and have used the service for 5 + years...also recommend to lots of friends and holiday neighbours.

After repeated missed collections
After repeated missed collections, fake promises to collect bins on Saturday after missed collections and lack of response from customer service causing me to have to constantly chase them and find alternatives such as going to dump or bringing rubbish to friends houses I eventually cancelled. I was called by a lady who wanted me to give them another chance as this was the first she heard of my issues. When I refused she said there would be a charge to remove the bins to which I told her in no uncertain terms that I would challenge if they applied it. I am still waiting for a refund as the direct debit for next year had just come out of my account a few weeks before cancelling. I will continue to chase them until it is repaid in full.

Very poor service recently
Very poor service recently. Bins not left back in same place, multiple error in text messages when bins are due out. And most recent, our black bins on the whole road has not been collected in a week, despite verbal promises to do so. Emails are not responded to. This company used to have excellent customer service until a few months ago. Would NOT reccomend.

Pretty consistently fail to collect bins every second week or so. Ignore all attempts at contacting customer service except to either (i) Say you didnt have your bin out or (ii) say they couldnt access the street, both being total fabrications.
To have one job and consistently fail to do it is pathetic

Terrible service, changing to another supplier. Have not been collecting bins for the past month in Rathfarnham. They text saying operational issues and to leave bins out for collection on another date, failed to collect on these days too.

The people answering the phone are very nice but bins arr still yet to be collected after 5 weeks of being a customer. 3 times we were asked to leave the bin out on a Saturday after Thursdays collection was missed. They agreed to nor charge us for the first two months but this is besides the point. Bins overflowing with nowhere to put our rubbish. Very dissapointing.

I am a loyal customer of the city bin co for the past 10 years never missed a payment or disputed rising costs they send me, in july of 2024 I lost my bank card and had to apply for a new one, I received a message to say payment had failed, no phone calls or email just a text message, I tried calling their customer service number to update my card details to no avail, phone is always busy no answer, so I emailed on the 10th of August to explain my situation with regards to my card being lost,I received a reply on the 16th, six days later asking me to call the same number they don't answer, so on the 15th I updated my new card details on my profile when my new bank card arrived,I replied saying that I updated my card details on the app, today is our bin collection day and our bins weren't collected, City bin why do you treat loyal customers with contempt, your non existing customer service answers my email DAYS LATER no call to say hi is there a problem, no no just remove the service, well CITY BIN CO IM NOW REMOVING YOU AS MY BIN COLLECTOR FOR YOUR UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER NON EXISTING SERVICE
