Thorntons Recycling Bewertungen 

I have been a Thorntons customer since moving into my house in Beatty Park 10 years ago. Over the decade, our family has grown, and I now have two children (aged 7 and 3).
The crew who collect the bins every week here in Celbridge are an absolute credit to themselves and the company. They have always been incredibly friendly and polite, but they have gone above and beyond since my kids came along.
My little boy turned 3 yesterday, and his absolute favorite thing in the world is watching the bin truck arrive in the morning. He waits out in the garden just to wave, and the driver and collection staff always meet him with the biggest smiles and a wave back.
For his birthday, he got his own mini wheelie bin and a high-vis jacket just like the crew (he even wants to be a binman for Halloween!). When the truck arrived yesterday, he brought his mini bin out to show them. The crew took a little extra time out of their busy route to say hello, wish him a happy birthday, and check out his new bin.
It absolutely made his day (and his birthday!). Thank you so much to this wonderful crew for always being so kind, safe, and community-minded. Outstanding service!

I ordered a skip, which was delivered and left on my driveway, which is on a busy road. I had nowhere to park my car, and the thought of the skip on my drive as a fire hazard filled me with dread, but I thought I could manage for a one-day skip hire.
Tomorrow, it will have been six days and counting that the skip has been sitting outside my house, despite being booked for a one day hire. Like other reviews, I phoned the company and was assured that it would be collected each day. However, each day has come and gone without it being collected.
It’s the lying I can’t stand. If I was told I could only hire for 7 days then I would know and plan accordingly.

If I were to give any advice, it would be this: if the timing of the collection isn't particularly important to you, then this company may be worth considering, as their prices seem reasonable. However, if you value punctuality, reliability and communication that you can trust, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Not the worst company but they never collected my bin this week. I rang to ask why. The agent couldn't tell me and said she would ring back. I never got a call back.

I rang the following day and had to wait 15 minutes to speak to an agent who told me that I have to top up my acc at least 24 hours in advance of a collection.

I had topped up the night before putting the bins out and have done so on many an occasion without any issues. I was never informed or contacted in any way about this stipulation.

I'll be looking for a new bin collecter.

several times they didnt collect mine and my neighbour bin, they collectect whole estate without ours. reported that every time nothing is changing. im changing the company

Great service at the recycle center. A skip was brought over to me to help unload the trailer, the lads were so field s and helpful and then lollipops were given to the kids!

I was a customer for 7.5 years, I either paid the full amount at the beginning of the year or every 6 months. Without fair warning they decided not to pick up my Waste and Compost bins one day. When I called them to find out when they could pick them up they said I would have to wait the two week cycle. Their customer service was truly shocking, unhelpful, unwilling and left me in the lurch with a stinking bins soon filled with maggots. So I decided to leave Thorntons for a better deal with AES. Thorntons tried to charge me a cancellation fee of €15 per bin and €15 transport fee to pick up their bins - they wouldn't even perform their service and collect my bins, why would I pay to have empty ones taken away! Avoid Thorntons!

Really appalling service. Today is Tuesday 25th August. Skip was booked last Monday to arrive last Thursday. Called Thursday - told it was coming. Called Friday - told it was coming. Called yesterday - told it was coming. Called today - still waiting. Building work has to be delayed now.

Re Skip Hire
I wish there were a zero stars option.
Ordered a skip and it arrived days late, once it was full they kept delaying the collection and as i needed to proceed with works i ordered a second.
The delivered the second skip but did not take the first. Then they came and collected the second skip, which was not yet full, and left the first full skip behind.
This is a good example of a company who most likely populates it workforce and pays them minimum wage, they just don't give a sh#t

This is regarding skip.ie. I am a long term customer for waste. Tried to book skip online on Wednesday 12th for next Monday 17th. App not working, so had to call them. Was told by girl on the phone that there was a minimum 72 jour wait for skip so wsz advised to book for today, was assured that skip would arrive Monday, Tuesday latest. Was at work this morning got a text to say skip on its way, rang them , rescheduled and they are hoping I'll have it on Monday. Never again.

Be warned. They charge fees for opening AND closing your account.

What really got to me is their sub-par communications; it took two phone calls and two email exchanges just to sign up (because their website persistently broke when trying to sign up).

We had a kerfuffle over swapping the bins from the old tennant to my name. They were more than happy to drop new bins to my house but they didn't collect the old bins until the old tennant payed the collection fee. Which would have been fine, but I was not made aware of that at the time of signing up.
So I was left with 3 extra old bins taking up space on the footpath for weeks.

I discussed with the old tennant and we looked at other options of disposing of the bins but we eventually caved and paid the collection fee to remove the old bins.

I certainly won't be signing up with Thorntons again. I think the other Thorntons reviews here speak for themselves.

I'd advise you to heed these warnings, I wish I did.

Very simple, if you want your bin collected DO NOT use Thorntons. Absolute disaster.
Spoke to the guys actually handling the bins, the less bins they collect, & the less trips to landfill, they sooner they get home and it shows.

Terrible experience, we didn’t order this skip ourselves, it was ordered by a commercial company doing work for us who I have given my feedback to as well, personally I’ll never order from Thorntons after this. We have been left with the skip in the driveway with excuse after excuse as to why it hasn’t been collected…we have a 24hr delay, a 48hr delay, a 72hr delay…get your act together and collect your skips. Every time we phone you confirm yes it will be collected, and by the end of the day it’s a new excuse, no senior staff/supervisor to speak to, no call backs when you say you will, just shockingly poor and rude customer services. I’m watching a neighbour having skips delivered AND COLLECTED all week with such a quick turn around and that’s who I will be ordering from when I need a skip again.

ORDERED A SKIP ON MONDAY THE 27/01/2026 FOR FRIDAY 31/007 FOR 4 DAYS RECEIVED TEXT ON TUESDAY 28/07/2026 SAYING THEY COULD NOT DELIVERY ON TH FRIDAY AS THEY HAD HIGH DEMAND ON SKIPS AND THERE WOULD BE DELAY OF 24 / 72 HOURS

I RANG THERE OFFICES TO CANCEL AND THEY CONVINCED ME TO TAKE IT ON WEDNESDAY 29/07/2026

I THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER TEXT ON WEDNESDAY THE 29/07/2026 STATING THEY COULD NOT FULFILL THAT DELIVERY

I AGAIN RANG THERE OFFICE AND FINALLY CANCELLED AND LOOKED FOR A REFUND AND THEY IN FORMED ME MY REFUND WOULD TAKE 5 / 7 DAYS BEFORE I WOULD RECEIVE INTO MY ACCOUNT IT ONLY TOOK THEM ABOUT 3 SECONDS TO TAKE IT FROM MY ACCOUNT.

CONCLUSION : VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

The delivery of the skip was quick but collection service is ulseless. They have cancelled the collection day three times now. Totally lost faith in this company. Will not use again for skip hire.

My Sister ordered a skip for one day. Skip arrived on the Monday and was meant to get picked up on the Tuesday. Four days later the Skip is still in my sister's garden, We rang them and explained that the skip needed to be picked up as we were supposed to be moving within the few days prior and that the removal van wouldn't be able to reverse into the garden, we were then told that they were going to put urgent on screen so the skip could be gone sooner than later. They told us that the skip would be collected by Wednesday, that was great but Wednesday came and went still no sign of skip. It is now Saturday and Skip is still sitting out front at my sister's.
Still nothing done about it.

If there was minus 10 stars they’d get it. Skip ordered for last weekend and it didn’t show. Phoned them last Monday to reschedule for this morning and still no show. Phoned again and told there’s a 48 hour delay so it will be at least Tuesday. Asked for a refund and told that’ll be a few days. A pathetic service. Why take the order if you can’t fulfil it.
Do not use Thornton’s. Take your business elsewhere.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing.

After reporting a missed bin collection, I was instructed to leave the bin out again for a special collection. I followed those instructions, but nobody came to collect it. As a result, I wasted my time for nothing.

To make matters worse, I received multiple phone calls within a very short period of time. If a customer does not answer, repeatedly calling several times in a row is not professional.

Poor communication, poor service and no resolution to the original issue. I have decided to cancel my service and move to another provider.

Service not guaranteed even if you pay, customer service -1 star as they try to blame you without checking the circumstances. Better not use them where possible

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, I ordered a skip online this morning to be delivered tomorrow as I have builders coming out, on the website this was not a problem, then they left it until 3pm in the afternoon to call me and say they are unable to fulfil the contract for atleast 48 hours now I am left with 2 hours left in the business day to try and get another one from another company, I asked to speak to a manager and was told there is no manager to speak to I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there was no supervisor either. So they have no problem taking your booking and taking your money but they cannot do as promised, now I am left completely stranded, for such a big company I have never seen anything so bad.

Do yourself a favour and order from somewhere else as this company is pathetic!

As this is a clear breach of contract I will be seeking legal advise for costs and time.

Over the years I have ordered several skips from Thorntons recycling and have had no issues.
But I ordered and paid for a skip a week ago to be delivered today, no skip arrived, phoned to enquire when the skip would be delivered, told its been delayed and they couldn't guarantee a delivery date.
Quite unacceptable to charge and take an order that they can't deliver on.
