Since creating the earlier review I have found out from experts that the peanuts and sunflowers in the Insectivore mix are likely to cause Metabolic Bone Disease in Hedgehogs. Apparently they contain too much Phosphorous and block calcium absorption, causing MBD which is something like osteoporosis. It is on the increase apparently. Ark do mention this in their detail about the Ark Hedgehog Food Original which is formulated to avoid this. Shame they mention the Insectivore Food as being suitable for birds and hedgehogs... It should not be given to Hedgehogs at all. It is too good to waste so I will put the remaining feed I bought on the birdtable and make sure I buy the Ark Hedgehog Food Original instead.

Was lucky enough to spot hedgehogs in my tiny garden in mid August but noticed two looked small so I read up on hedgehog risks. Apparently they would struggle to get food naturally in very hot dry weather and needed to be able to put on a lot of weight before they could survive the winter. I researched food and ordered the insectivore food fom Ark Wildlife and a food and water dish. The order arrived promptly and at dusk on the day it arrived, I put out a small amount and water, and in 10mins had 2 hedgehog enjoying the snack given. Every night since I put out the food, and now two little dishes, there are up to 4 on the food 🍲. No need to bring any in as there is nothing left after an hour or so. I noticed the birds pick up any spills at dawn. Thanks to Ark for the great food.
