I've ordered through Abe books a couple…

I've ordered through Abe books a couple of times before and my current order just arrived. I'm surprised to see negative reviews as my experience has been fine other than deliveries being a little slow. The price of the books has been lower than on other platforms so I don't mind waiting a bit longer.

The worst experience I've had with a retailer

AndLight owe me £460 for an item I returned to them on April 26th. I have chased the refund up around five times and 12 days ago was told it had been actioned but I still haven't been refunded. They have now stopped even responding to emails. I've had to raise a claim with PayPal and am wondering if I'll ever get my money back. I think this is the worst experience I've had with a retailer ever. Don't buy from AndLight if there is the slightest chance of needing to return the item.
Update 28/05. AndLight have been in touch six days after my last email to request an update on the refund. Today they report not having confirmation that they received the return despite me send them the tracking information nearly three weeks ago and them confirming two weeks ago that the return had been actioned. I've now re-sent what I sent three weeks ago. Have lost count of the number of times I've had to email them now and still no refund.

Awaiting £460 refund for returned item for nearly a month.

I ordered a light fitting (£460) some weeks ago. When it arrived, it was grey rather than white as I had expected according to the photograph of the item and its description. I returned the item with insurance cover costing me £60. It was delivered back to AndLight on April 26th. I have sent around five emails now requesting the my refund but nearly four weeks after it was returned I am still £460 out of pocket. I have provided all the relevant information including tracking details/confirmation of delivery to AndLight. I was advised 8 days ago that a refund has been actioned but still no sign. Don't buy from AndLight if you have any doubts at all about whether you may want to return the product as arranging a refund seems to be beyond them.

Ordered on 23/11/23 - still not arrived two weeks later

Ordered on 23/11/23. The confirmation identified that the product would be delivered by Royal Mail within 2-3 days. However the day after ordering I received a My Hermes tracking link indicating the order was with them. 13 days later it is still with them with no indication of progress. I raised this with Abode two days ago and asked them to contact Evri, however, they just told me the order was with the courier, which I already knew, and that it would arrive within two days. Two days later, still no order or change to the tracking information. I have set a deadline and will cancel if not received by then.

Fantastic furniture but process could have been better

I ordered two sofas and an armchair from W and H at the end of June. They took longer to arrive than the 12 weeks specified and I had to contact the company to chase up what was happening when the predicted completion date came and went. At this point I read the bad reviews and became worried about having ordered with W and H. I got responses to my emails within a couple of days though again no proactive contacts from W and H to let me know when the sofas and chair were completed and ready to ship. Shipping was problematic also as it was some time after the sofas were ready that I got a date and in the interim the location of the furniture was unclear - again, somewhat concerning. In late November however W and H became more proactive in keeping me informed about delivery and a change of delivery service on their part. Once the change had taken place, the sofas and chair arrived pretty quickly. In the end it was around 5 months between ordering and receiving the furniture. However, now that it has arrived, I am very pleased with it. Both sofas and the armchair are beautifully made and great quality. All in all I am glad that I bought from W and H. It just would have been good to have been kept updated about completion and delays by the company. My sense is that they have been badly hit by covid and like many other companies, by Brexit 😠 also. Nonetheless I am very happy with what I have bought and if the reviews picked up, I would consider buying from them again. One thing I would add is that multiple reviews from four and five years ago on Trust Pilot is actually unhelpful as it looks a bit suspicious, so anyone posting about a purchase made long ago would be better not posting. Reviews from people who have bought recently and who are happy with their product would be much more useful.
