Delighted with the results and service received when a disk was badly damaged. Not cheap but well worth the expense to rescue data feared lost forever.

Rang the previous day asking if they were able to help recover some data for me, they said yes they would have a look and to call by the office the next day. I did this to a very friendly welcome from Richard and Joanne, they were able to look at my computer and the data was recoverable which they did for me. Excellent customer service and I would use them again and diffidently recommend.

From the first email I sent to Xytron requesting advice on data recovery to the moment I collected my new hard drive from them with all my 'feared lost' data intact, I received an exceptional service from Xytron Data Recovery UK. Their first email response to me outlined their recovery procedures and likely cost. Their integrity was of major importance to me and from the outset I was very reassured about this.
Richard updated me by email and telephone calls throughout the recovery process and to my amazement this concluded with the very good news that they had recovered all my data. On meeting Richard (and the delightful Jo) at their office I found them to be charming; so polite, professional and helpful.

I'm not usually one to post negative reviews, but sometimes companies that supposedly have a great reputation can let the odd person down from time to time, and I feel I was the unlucky one this time around.

I have no issue with the prices that were agreed (about £900 for a 500GB SSD) as the data was priceless to me, and their policy of only charging you if they are able to recover the data you require is excellent. Can't fault them there. My main qualms with the service I received was the absolutely shocking lack of communication from the company.

From day one it was a constant battle trying to extract information from them about the status of the recovery. I had to email them to ask them if they have received my SSD (which they would have received a week before I contacted them). From then on in, I felt like it was a never-ending process of me emailing them, asking for an update on the situation. Don't get me wrong, I was very patient - I usually left it about a month between each email I sent. In the first two months, the responses were adequate - they were struggling to recover the data, but are trying different techniques. They asked if I was happy for them to take it apart and remove the data chip from the rest of the SSD and I said that was fine. The main issue was after this, the responses were in the mould of "We can't get any data, can you give us another week?".

5 months after initially sending the SSD off to them, I finally had enough, and sent a slightly irritated email asking for the last time what was happening. The response made out that they had previously told me that they couldn't recover anything and were no longer trying. Well that was rubbish, because for three months they had been asking for more time - at no point had they said "We cannot recover any data, so there is nothing we can do." I honestly feel like if I hadn't been emailing them for the last few months, I would have never heard from them again or received my SSD back in the post when I requested it. I cannot even begin to imagine why - makes me wonder if they had done something wrong in the process which made the data unrecoverable (although I admit my initial problem of having overvolted the SSD means I would never be able to find this out). As a side note, the quote they gave me was for a 10 day service", not a 5 month service!

When I did say enough is enough, I also had to send two emails asking exactly what they had done to attempt the data recovery, but all I got was the same "removed the data chip from the rest of the SSD". I didn't receive a report or any technical explanation about it. For the price I was willing to pay (£900), I expected at least a professional service. In the end, I'm left wondering if I chose the wrong company to attempt the recovery.

I'm sure they'll reply to my review promptly (how ironic would that be!) and somehow try to make out that I'm lying - that seems to have been the case with other negative reviews. But hopefully my review is balanced enough to show that this is a fair review of the service I received.

The moral of the story is that you shouldn't get yourself into a situation where you have to rely on these companies to try to retrieve your data. Always keep multiple, up-to-date backups! Let that be a lesson to me!

Xytron offer a first class service. We were so worried we'd lost all our family photos on a non-working hard drive.... but Xytron saved them all! The service was incredibly fast, reliable and they even went to great lengths to guide me through the download process of the salvaged files over the Easter weekend. A huge thank you!

Fantastic service from Xytron. Richard managed to retrieve pretty much everything i had lost after a power cut during storm Doris corrupted a portable drive. Also gave valuable advice on safer back-up methods.

I found everyone at the company really helpful. They went above and beyond with regards to customer service and thankfully recovered my data as well.

When our hard drive failed, my husband was rather upset! Not only did it have hundreds of photographs of our grandchildren on it, but hundreds of genealogical family trees in excel form. And I hadn't backed them up!
Xytron rescued every file - over 16,000 of them. And then remotely set up the file transfer for me to put them back onto my PC because I didn't know how to do it.
Very quick service too - from them receiving the hard drive to transferring files back to me less than a week.
The fee seemed a lot initially, but it was worth it to get all our files back.

Xytron were able to recover the majority of our irreplaceable data (family photographs dating back 10 or so years) which failed on an external hard drive. The service was incredibly quick and efficient (despite it being the Christmas period when many businesses shut up shop) and we were communicated with throughout the process. Also pleased to find that the pricing was transparent and conveyed clearly! Richard was extremely helpful throughout and was able to advise and provide a resolution when I was having difficulty downloading from the FTP server. I cannot thank Xytron enough!

Our family 2TB external hard drive suddenly failed and we were faced with losing (most critically) our collection of home video from the first 9-10 years of our children's lives.
The amount of negative feedback and comments regarding data retrieval companies on the internet and the potential costs involved made who to send our drive to a very difficult decision. In the end we narrowed the choice down to the few UK companies that clearly had the facilities on site to carry out any of the likely required processes and, after to speaking to them all on the phone, went for Xytron (who also appeared to have more positive/an absence of negative reviews).
After an initial inspection it was confirmed that a repair would be required, and when questioned about the nature of the failure Xytron explained what appeared to have happened to the drive and what would be involved in repairing it. The costs we paid for parts were exactly as advertised and following the repair we were sent a complete summary of the recovered file directory and the files that were recoverable.
Xytron checked 3 random movie files (selected by us) but none of them played properly which was rather disheartening. Xytron informed us that there was probably more chance of smaller files still working due to the way drives store files across platters, and suggested they could check a further 40 files (video and pics again selected by us) to give us a better idea of how much recovered data was likely working as it should be.
Xytron confirmed within a few days that of these 40 files about 20 opened OK and we decided that (especially given that we had lost everything) it was worth us paying the fee (again exactly as per costs advertised on their site) to have all the recovered data sent to us (copied onto the replacement drive we had sent).
Having sifted through all the movie files we received it appears that over 50% play fine, whilst many of the other files on the drive (iTunes library etc.) are also still useable. Obviously, the irreplaceable files were most important for us and after watching through a number of the movies that do play and feature some very treasured memories, we are extremely grateful for the job Xytron did.
It is not a mistake I expect to make twice (we now have everything backed up across 3 drives, just in case!) but would thoroughly recommend Xytron to anyone else who has suffered the same misfortune.

So happy to have ALL of my data back, it was just over 1TB so no small feat. Great work guys.
