AVOID Viking Star hotel!
AVOID THIS HOTEL! It is a one star hotel at best! Nowhere near the "luxurious 5-star hotel" it claims to be on love holidays website! Don't believe the five star reviews.
The initial room we we're given smelt of sewers and was slightly dirty. We were told we could not change rooms until the next day so went back to the room. A cleaner came and sprayed the floor drain and covered it with a towel. The smell remained! We could not endure the smell of sewers and could not sleep with such a stench. My husband went to complain and demanded another room and we were given another room. This room was cleaner and did not smell initially, but three days into our stay, the sewer smell 'travelled' into our room.
Key card does not slot in the doors - it has to be tapped and takes some time to register before door opens. We eventually got the knack of opening the door. The door handle from the inside was almost hanging off its hinges!
WiFi is not free in the rooms - €3 a day. Very slow WiFi in the reception area. It is very deceptive to write 'at a glance' that WiFi is available without adding an asterisk that this is available at a charge.
There is no kettle to boil water for tea or coffee - a basic amenity in other lesser starred hotels, all inclusive or not! There is no mini bar in the room as is claimed on their information paper.
Don't let the claim that the TV has satellite channels fool you if you enjoy watching TV and don't speak Turkish! All the channels are in Turkish.
Hangers are a luxury in this hotel apparently, and we had use of six hangers between the two of us. Hangers have not been replaced when they go missing.
Two restaurants DO NOT serve guests as is claimed on love holidays where I booked this hotel. There was only one functioning restaurant, which is not a problem had they not claimed otherwise. The food tastes bland, with some of the food tasting absolutely disgusting. They did not taste fresh and tasted like they had been cooked days before, frozen or refrigerated and then reheated. Had I not eaten at a restaurant that served food which tasted 10 times better, I would have thought all Turkish food tasted like dog's dinner (i.e. no seasoning in any of the food, not even salt and pepper)! Not much variety of drinks at the bar. Not worth paying for all inclusive at this hotel. All of 'not much' is included.
The noise level was high, with noisy teenagers running around the hotel and lots of door banging very late into the night! There is no noise proofing in this hotel at all and it's very easy to hear conversations of guests in neighbouring rooms.
The lifts were always dirty!
Apart from the end of Ramadan celebratory act/singing on the first night of our stay, nothing else going on in the hotel so was boring.
We thought that one positive was we were able to check out late at no cost, dependent on the busyness/demand for rooms, as we were told by the man who checked us in at the reception desk at check in and another young man who was sitting at the reception desk in the morning. We were told in the morning that we could check out late at no cost. However, when we came to actually check out, we were charged 1934.93 Turkish Lira! This is the worst hotel to stay at. You have been warned!
