About Vets Now
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Kept waiting for 1 & 1/2 hours
We phoned and arranged to be there between 5pm and 5.30pm. Got there just after 5pm and was put into a room and asked to pit the dog up on the table, 1 and a half hours later we were seen by a nurse, all that time having to keep the dog still on the table.
When the vet eventually came in she basically just touched my dogs leg and said it's either broken or a tumour has burst,if its either then there is nothing we can do for your dog due to arthritis and twice went on about quality of life which I wasn't happy about and said so.
Add to that the shocking price of £1200 to xray him but depending on findings couldn't do anything till the next day at which point we said we would leave it then and take to our own vets in the morning, which turns out crays were just over £300.
And to top it all off after having us fearing the worst there wasn't a break or tumour, if i hadn't been so adamant the vet would have been happy enough to put him to sleep there and then.
Definitely won't be using this vets out of hours ever again.

We had to wait outside as no one would answer the buzzer with a very very poorly cat … the vetwas lovely WHEN we got to see her she gave him a very detailed examination and said he was to sick to save and made his end as peaceful and gentle as possible. Then 45 min wait to pay the astronomical fee … as grieving parents it was a shit show the admin staff where dreadful …. They have you by the throat as you have to pay before u leave ok I get that but don’t leave us sobbing in reception you should have let us pay and leave asap and go home to grieve ……disgusted
If i could give zero stars i would
If i could give zero stars i would. They failed to tell us over the phone that they knew nothing about beardies. When we got there we found this out when they said there's not a lot they can do because they don't see beardies. When we were there I had to ask to make sure ours was warm enough, he wasn't so they then said they would put him on a HEAT PAD. Offered £400 to observe him overnight (absolutely not considering they're using a heat pad to keep him warm). We opted to go home and keep him in his enclosure where he could be comfortable and go to the exotics vet that we were recommended and told would be a £60 consult fee first thing when they opened. We had to pay the £340 out of hours fee for literally no advice and even treatment that probably made our beardies condition worse because he was cold. We followed the instructions and called the recommended vet as soon as they opened. They said they couldn't give us an appointment without the documents from the out of hours vet which was now closed and if we could get those over, the consult wouldnt be for anything less than £470. We did a U-turn as we were also on the way to this vet while sorting this out, we found another exotic vet and went there instead without telling what we'd already been through. This new vet was incredible but it was too late and our precious bearded dragon passed away. I'm so incredibly angry at vets now and the vet they recommended. They clearly didn't care about the welfare of our boy and only wanted our money and in the end it was at the cost of his life. This isn’t the first time we've had a bad experience with the Farnham branch and I will be telling anyone I know to avoid this place at all costs.

Fantastic care and attention which saved our cats life
The speed at which they attended to our poorly cat, and the subsequent love, care and attention thereafter was lovely and very reassuring even though he was 17 years old. The Vet was very clear on all aspects of his life threatening condition, potential outcomes and treatments. Thank you all so much for keeping our lovely boy with us, in a manner he can still enjoy his life 😘
Exceptional service.
the people on the phone were a calamity
If the vet was perfect the people on the phone were a calamity! The first one wanted to fill a form with since I had to face an emergency for my dog life. I asked for an address I received a msg I couldn’t open : I am living in the north of Scotland, there is no connection there! Not everyone is living in London. The second one gave a postcode … I arrived at the crematorium!
Really!!!

The staff at the bitterne branch were absolutely fantastic on both occasions when Herbie, my lovely cockerpoo, was having serious breathing difficulties requiring an oxygen tent. I would not hesitate to recommend them, they were very thorough, very calm and i has complete trust in them that they were doing the very best for my best friend. Thank you so much.

Terrible Service!
Terrible Service!
Took my very quiet & obviously very poorly Labrador to Vets Now, Wimborne, on Saturday evening. I have had previous poor treatment with them & would have avoided going if I could, but this couldn’t wait. The vets couldn’t diagnose anything but a high temperature (which I already knew) & gave me pain killers. - but they did t know what for! That was over £600!
I had to return the following night. Over £300 charged again with another diagnosis of a temperature. They even charge £35 to contact Pet Plan which takes weeks if not months! My own vets charge £8 & contact Pet Plan the same day.
The next day I took her to my own vet who immediately took her in, put her on a drip & scanned her abdomen. She was then transferred straight away to Southern Counties specialist vets for an emergency operation.
My dog had a perforated caecal mass & secondary septic abdomen. She is lucky to be alive, only due to the fantastic treatment from Lynwood & Southern Counties.
The diagnosis & treatment was terrible from Vets Now & charges of over £900 for a few minutes with us absolutely disgraceful. I have already started an official complaint.

Do not trust this clinic with your pet’s final moments
I am writing this to issue a severe warning to any pet owner considering Vets Now Cheltenham. Our beautiful Pierre, a cherished member of our family for nearly 10 years, was euthanised here over the Easter bank holiday.
Before the procedure, we signed a formal consent form specifically requesting a lock of his hair and a paw print for a planned memorial tattoo. Despite this being a written instruction on a legal document, the clinic failed to take them due to what they admitted in writing was a 'human communication error.' Pierre was cremated before we were told. They permanently and irreversibly robbed us of our only opportunity to have a physical keepsake of our boy.
While their initial mistake was heartbreaking, their behavior since has been utterly abhorrent. They originally tried to brush us off with an insulting £100 'goodwill' gesture (a tiny fraction of our £1,882.59 bill) and then completely cut off all communication, ignoring our emails and refusing to respond to the Veterinary Client Mediation Service (VCMS).
It ultimately took publishing an honest online review to finally force them to the negotiating table. After months of stalling and evasion, they begrudgingly agreed to a token £150 settlement just to close the file. A minor payout does nothing to fix a permanent, irreparable loss, and their tactics throughout this entire ordeal have exposed a callous, corporate machine completely devoid of compassion or professional ethics. Do not trust them with your pets, and do not trust them with your final wishes.
Please note: While our initial experience was with the Cheltenham branch of Vets Now, this review should be considered more widely for any branch of this business nationwide, given the complaint was handled by head office and demonstrates the appalling lack of professionalism by this company.

Prices are extortionate
We visited Vets Now with our dog out of hours. We were there less than 20 minutes and charged nearly £500, £313 of that was just for the consultation! The prices are extortionate and take advantage of pet owners who have an ill animal late at night and feel like they have no other option but to take them to be seen. We still ended up taking our dog to her regular vet the next day for actual treatment. The vet we saw wasn’t friendly or reassuring. He was rather cold and very clinical. We were also charged a £35 ‘admin fee’ because we wanted to claim on our pet insurance, this apparently is for them to provide information to the insurer. The facility was a necessity in a very scary time but In hind sight it’s a total rip off

Admin a disaster - lost my pet
It is now eight and a half weeks since our GS was put to sleep. After three weeks, I requested to know where the ashes for our pet were as we had requested return of the ashes and told I should get a response within 35 days. On receipt of this, I replied this was totally unacceptable as the process was too long and we had her put to sleep on the spot after her diagnosis - so no case history etc etc. I got a response three days later - sorry an administration error - your pet was sent to COMMUNAL cremation - offered cremation fee back + £50 compensation! I immediately replied I wanted to know that my pet had been treated in a humane manner and some confirmation that she was indeed cremated and where she was as we at least hoped to have some closure - 20 days after that I have no response other than to my previous response - we will get back to you within 25 DAYS this time. I paid over £1000 to have her looked at and put to sleep, that there are no checks as to have the after treatment is carried out beggard belief from the prices they charge - can understand higher vet fees for ooh service - but NOT the add ons - especially if they totally fail
