Solid oak doors for an Edwardian renovation
We needed to replace all the internal doors in our 1920s house as part of a full renovation. The original doors were long gone and we wanted something that suited the period without looking like cheap repro. After a lot of searching we settled on UK Oak Doors for solid oak internal doors rather than the veneered stuff you see everywhere else.
Spoke to Layla on the phone a couple of times before ordering. She was helpful without being pushy and talked us through the differences between the door styles, what would work with our existing oak door frames, and the options for pre finished versus unfinished oak. We went with unfinished so we could match the stain to our oak skirting boards.
Ordered six four panel solid oak doors in total. Delivery took about a week and everything arrived well packaged. Our joiner was impressed with the quality and the consistency across the batch, which apparently isn't always the case with natural timber.
Only minor issue was one door needed a bit more trimming than expected to fit the old frame, but that's just the reality of period properties with nothing quite square. The doors themselves were spot on.
Would use them again for the external oak door we're planning next year.

Purchased 5 doors in total costing over…
Purchased 5 doors in total costing over £1500. Although the doors are pretty good the customer service is lacking and don't make the same mistake I did as they won't do u any favours at all.
I had 4 oak doors on order and arrived, the carpenter I used let me down so had to wait for a later date to fit them which took extra time. I looked at the outside of the boxes for any damage and there wasn't any, so in my mind it was logical to expect solid oak doors to be undamaged inside if cardboard wasn't damaged on the outside. I didn't want to open them all when they weren't going to be fitted straight away and didn't want to stack opened doors onto of each other in case or scratches as the doors were finished. I personally stacked the doors on top of each other in my lounge so they would lay flat and not get damaged. week or so later when the carpenter came and we opened the doors up one of them had a large split down the thinner sections of the door. Obviously UK oak doors wern't interested and just sited terms and conditions which I guess I couldn't really argue with as it's in black and white. So now had to order another door at £350. Being that they sent me a damaged door you would have thought they might have been able to offer me a decent deal on a replacement door. I asked them what could they do to help me out, even just paying for the delivery would of helped or a discount to take into account what had happened, the whole experience kind of left me feeling sour with them that over a technicality I was out of pocket for damage that was done by either them or the courier they used.
No matter what people if you order from this company sign the courier unchecked and physically check every inch of your doors as customer service isn't interested in helping you.
Edit... In reply, the so called good will offer you made was 10% which doors were on offer for anyway, so there was no real good will gesture of anything extra. I even asked and was told NO!!! asked again and ignored.

We’re sorry to hear that one door was damaged and understand how frustrating it must have been to discover a defect at the point of installation, especially after waiting for your carpenter.
Our 48-hour inspection policy exists so we can raise any transit or manufacturing queries and resolve issues before tradesmen arrive.
Deliveries are booked in advance so someone can be available to check the goods at the time of arrival. As the damage was reported around four weeks after delivery and the items had been signed for in good condition, we were unfortunately unable to assist.
That said, we wanted to help where possible, which is why we offered a goodwill discount on a replacement door. We understand this wasn’t the outcome you hoped for, and we’re sorry the situation left you feeling disappointed.

I received my delivery of 7 oak doors from a parcel delivery company(in my opinion they are not the type of company to handle this type of high end product!). Fortunately, only one door was damaged. I showed the damage to the driver and his reply was to contact the supplier. There was no paperwork, so I was unable to put it in writing. I scribbled in the box of their phone device and then I contacted Oak Doors the next day via email. After many emails back and forward, the outcome was that I must have damaged the door myself, and as I had signed for the delivery, their comment was that I had accepted the order. My advice to anyone would be not to use their transport company but collect the doors yourself. Or if you do and have any damages, send the delivery back because Oak Doors loyalty is with the transport company, not the customer!!

To provide some clarity, the doors were dispatched fully checked and securely packaged. At the time of delivery, the goods were signed for as received in good condition, and the carrier also recorded images showing the packaging intact. The damage was reported after the doors had been taken away from the delivery address in a private vehicle.
Unfortunately, once items are signed for as received in good condition and taken away from the delivery location, we’re unable to assist further with the issue. This was explained during our email correspondence and reflects standard industry procedure rather than a preference for any third party.
We do understand how frustrating this situation can be and appreciate the feedback regarding delivery arrangements. We always recommend checking goods thoroughly before signing and contacting us within 48 hours if there are any concerns, so we can help as quickly as possible.

Although the doors are lovely I thought I was getting a bespoke size and gave the company dimensions in every communication I had with them. They sent a quote ignoring my dimensions and I stupidly didn’t check the sizes. The door arrived standard size and oak doors flatly refused to offer any compensation.

While your initial enquiry was made via the bespoke section of our website, our subsequent correspondence, quotation, invoice, pricing, and lead times were all clearly for standard doors to be trimmed, which is exactly what was supplied. These details were confirmed in writing and approved prior to manufacture and dispatch.
The dimensions you provided could be achieved by trimming standard doors, which is a common industry practice and was recommended to avoid the significantly higher cost and extended lead time associated with bespoke manufacture. For clarity, trimming is typically carried out on site by the installer once final fitting conditions are known. We do not offer a factory cutting or trimming service unless a full bespoke order is placed, which involves signed-off dimensions, bespoke pricing, and a different production process.
We fully appreciate that you expected the doors to arrive already cut and we’re sorry that this expectation wasn’t aligned. However, the doors supplied do match exactly what was quoted, invoiced, and agreed at the time of order, and for this reason we were unable to offer compensation.
We’re pleased to hear that you’re happy with the quality of the doors themselves, and we remain more than happy to offer guidance on trimming allowances or resealing to ensure the finish and warranty are maintained.

I do not recommend it
I do not recommend it, beware of a scam. The door frame arrived in the wrong finish as described, and the moldings were crooked. I waited two weeks for delivery, and customer service hasn't responded for two days. I do not recommend it!!!

It took you three days to respond to my complaint request, after pay pal dispute. I emphasize that the product was not damaged it wasn't inspected before shipping. The bent strip disqualifies installation. I lost a customer and time. Now I'll have to wait an unknown amount of time for a replacement. Only when I see the faultless product with my own eyes will I change my opinion. This doesn't change the fact that I've lost a valuable customer. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I've ordered doors online and received a defective product, even though I'm paying for excellent products like you boast about in the description. One more thing: don't describe the frame as prefinished, it is finished, varnished, and I was going to oiled the frame. This is another misinformation. It seems you're preying on clients who don't have much time and want, for example, a door to the bathroom, or are pressed for time, so most people turn a blind eye because they're cornered. Poor practice.

Delivery problems
Ordered 4 doors with a guaranteed delivery for friday at a £65 charge. Friday comes no doors. Contact them on Monday to say it's their mistake. Refund me money back so I can replace order with guarantee next day delivery but now costs me more than original price and now won't guarantee me delivery till wednesday with no set time. Absolutely shocking customer service. Spent over £1500 and still not recieved order and had joiner booked in and paid for with no compensation. Project needs completing for friday so can hand keys back. Will never order from this shambolic company ever again if I could give zero stars I would. Totally embarrassing

Misleading
Delivery is not in 3-5 days but 3-5 days from dispatch. 'Glazed' door apparently comes without glazing and needs a glazier and bits cutting at awkward angles to complete. Both delivery and description are misleading on website. Some attempt to remedy the description since my complaint but inadequate. Poorly executed joint so not great quality either. Far too many emails from me to get the door collected and to get clear reassurance of full refund. Slow refunds process. Took hours of my life to sort. Avoid!!

Throughout our email conversations, we arranged the collection promptly, as we did not want you to be left with a product you were unhappy with.
We use a third-party carrier for both deliveries and returns, which can occasionally influence scheduling. Our returns process can take up to 14 working days, and your refund was completed, with a confirmation emailed to you once processed.

Ordered 4 pre finished doors for a 7…
Ordered 4 pre finished doors for a 7 day delivery. After 14 days no sign of the doors delivery. I contacted UK Oak Doors and was advised that the doors were not delivered due to the need for a further delivery payment of £35 I had already paid the standard delivery cost of £35 as billed by UK Oak Doors at no time did anyone advise the further delivery cost. I paid the extra delivery cost of £35 and was advised delivery would be in 5 days. After 5 days no sign of the delivery I contacted uk oak Doors again this time I was advised that one of the doors was not in stock and it would be at least a further month before delivery could be made. They offered to send 3 pre finished doors and another unfinished door with a tin of varnish for me to paint. Totally unacceptable to sell pre finished doors and ask the customer to paint 1 of the doors. Further I now need to wait 7 days for the refund.

Not really external doors
The external oak doors are really only suitable for interior use. The frankly ludicrous T&Cs require an awning so that the door never gets wet, but it's not really possible to have an awning on an existing porch. Despite this, they will sell you a weather bar if the door does have to be exposed to rain. No problem, I thought, as the door was carefully painted with weatherproof gloss anyway. Big mistake - the door was fine all summer but warped as soon as the damp weather started. A waste of money, and softwood would hardly have done worse.

All of our external oak doors are made from natural timber, which requires specialist care and treatment to ensure long-term performance. They must be protected with a suitable hardwax oil finish — not paint, varnish, or other coatings that seal the surface and restrict the wood’s natural movement.
We clearly state on every product page, and within the documentation sent to all customers prior to dispatch, that our external oak doors must be installed under a porch or canopy and finished only with a suitable hardwax oil. These requirements are not hidden within our terms and conditions — they’re highlighted online and reiterated in our pre-dispatch disclaimer to ensure full transparency. This can be viewed here.

In this particular case, you did acknowledge these instructions on 26th June, confirming in writing that you will be painting the doors so this probably voids the warranty.
While we always aim to support our customers wherever possible, applying an unsuitable finish and exposing the door directly to the elements will, unfortunately, void the warranty, as it prevents the oak from performing as intended.
We do our very best to provide clear information and guidance to help our customers make informed decisions, and we regret that this product has not met your expectations on this occasion.
